They are terrified and repelled by it. Because it is so loved. And it's drawing souls--especially the young. If their aim is a universal liturgy then this beautiful TRUE rite of worship is a major threat. They truly despise this ancient Mass. That tells us all we need to know.

Pope John Paul II Recommends Wider use of Latin
VATICAN, Feb 21, 02 -- Pope John Paul II has recommended the use of Latin in the Roman liturgy and in seminary training.

In a message to a conference being held at the Salesian University in Rome, the Holy Father emphasized that Latin remains the official language of the Catholic Church, and expressed his desire that "the love of that language would grow ever strong among candidates for the priesthood." The Pope's message itself was written in Latin, and read by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the Vatican Secretary of State.

The conference to which the Pope addressed this message was commemorating the 40th anniversary of Veterum Sapientia, the apostolic constitution in which Pope John XXIII wrote of the importance of Latin as an important part of "the patrimony of human civilization." Pope John Paul underlined the same message, pointing out that the use of Latin "is an indispensable condition for a proper relationship between modernity and antiquity, for dialogue among different cultures, and for reaffirming the identity of the Catholic priesthood."

Pope John Paul II Praises Traditional Latin Mass' "Magnificent Prayers"
VATICAN, Sep 27, 01 - The liturgy of the Catholic Church must never be reduced to a merely esthetic exercise, Pope John Paul II has warned. Nor can the liturgical ceremonies be seen as "instruments toward pedagogical or ecumenical ends."

The papal message was addressed to the members of the Congregation for Divine Worship, who are meeting in Rome this week. The Holy Father reminded them that "the celebration of the sacred mysteries is above all else an act of praise to the sovereign majesty of God." For that reason, he continued, the first characteristic of any liturgy must be "a profound sense of the sacred."

The Pope also encouraged the Congregation for Divine Worship which in May published the instruction on liturgical translation, Liturgicam Authenticam to ensure that the prayers of the liturgy reflect the depth of the Christian traditions of piety. He cited as examples the "magnificent prayers" found in the rites of the Eastern churches, and in the old Roman Missal of St. Pius V.

For the Catholic Church to dump the Latin Mass would be the historical equivalent of the USA Declaring that the American War of Independence was a mistake.

Or for someone to shove their grandparents under a bus.

I think it should be pointed out that Cdl Gregory was a young priest serving under the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin.

These restrictions on the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar represent direct violations of Papal orders as issued by Pope Pius V in "Quo Primum". There, the Holy Father promulgated that the Traditional Latin Mass cannot be abrogated, not even by a Pope, let alone by an Anti-Pope. In fact, Pope Pius V wrote in Quo Primum: "Should anyone dare to contravene it, let him know that he will incur the wrath of Almighty God and of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul." Quo Primum was later confirmed by Pope Benedict XVI, in "Summorum Pontificum".

I sat with my eyes closed to take in this marvelous teaching. Great preparation, presentation, and depth. Thank you, your Excellency! Thank you, Padraig!

I was listening today to a podcast with Fr Ripperger. He said that one thing in the NO mass that was discontinued was the prayers for the Pope and the Church. When we pray we ask for grace to be given. He added well we can see where that got us. I know it’s not funny and remarkably true but I still had to laugh :):barefoot:. Now that the TLM has been restricted, I no longer have the ability to attend one. But I continue my practice of praying for the Pope and his Bishops because I’m sure they need it! (As do I)

I heard the most beautiful sand I believe the most true message from the Mother of God at Medugorje. She
said that if we kept the Faith that no matter what goes on around us in the World we would be at peace.

    I really do believe this.

I don't say we might not find life hard and difficult, but that we would always, always, always be at peace.

    I have found this myself.

Always huge, huge, huge, peace. Peace and a deep down happiness and joy.

Always this really , really deep down joy, peace, happiness , even in the most difficult times.

Very often I even wake up laughing. Just a total delight.,

Maybe people decide not to believe in God; do they have this constant joy and peace? I don't think so.
I was walking through the forest this afternoon, the light was fading. It was full of mist and the rain was falling....but I said the rosary through the mist, the rain the dark and you know such an immense feeling of the presense of God.

    Such a joy.

As noted above, Cardinal Gregory stated "Tradition dies a slow death, sometimes a bloody death".
This one line hit hard. Doesn't his own authority as a Prince of the Church come via Apostolic Tradition? Isn't he undermining his own authority by stating this?

Increasingly, in Ireland at least, people don't seem to be going to the Novus Ordo, so it makes little sense to speak of uniting them around it. Also, we're rapidly running out of priests to celebrate our Masses and those that remain are a 'Dad's Army', increasingly under pressure to serve the demand that is left.

Fulton Sheen reminds us of the importance of having really holy, educated and capable clergy who can teach the truth. That education and reading are really, really important, especially at this present time when we are perpetually be fed lie after lie.

I’m really trying for peace and joy but failing miserably due to work demands- ok let’s be frank - it’s the people at work. In some of my more explosive moments I yell out Jesus I Know you have to be God cuz no one else would have the patience to put up with this. Of course in saner moments I do think there are other people who are saying the same things about me. :D

In my search for communities that are deep in faith, I have found the traditional Latin Mass and also the Neocatecumenal community. I attend Latin Mass every Friday. I have been part of a Neocatecumenal group for the past 2 years. Our group of 160 people has 3 young men in the a seminary and 5 young women in the vocational for becoming Nuns. There are many teenagers as part of our community, and many families. I recently learned that the Neocatecumenal Way was started as a result of an apparition by our Lady to the founder of the Way, Kiko Arguello.
