So, maybe government is now made up of, say, 2 competing factions, as opposed to political parties. Both factions being power hungry and more than willing to throw their own under the bus to achieve their ends. I've thought this for awhile, especially after our New Democratic Party propped up the Liberals here. And during the height of Covid, they literally all sang the same song...

Jason, what gets me is the seemingly callous way the women are talking in the background. I gather this is not a live video, but I wonder about the women, almost laughing.

 

Same observation HH, just saw many Twitter posts cheering this bridge bombing. I would be scared if I were them. I hope Putin can still restrain himself from ordering a nuclear armageddon...

 

War is evil. It hardens hearts as each side claims the moral high ground and sees the opponent as evil. Look at the horror of abortion and millions continue to support the slaughter of innocent babes.

We are not 'going to freeze' in Europe. Some of us in the UK will recall the power cuts of the 1970's, caused by strikes, during which there were no records of people freezing to death. Some of us are also old enough to recall houses without central heating and seeing ice on the inside of the windows when we woke. We usually had one coal fire in the living room and that was it. It usually went out during the night so the mornings could be 'exhilarating' in mid-winter. Many thousands managed to survive the Arctic gulags on thin gruel and minimal barrack heating, most people can survive the occasional, even frequent, loss of heating. I think that those most likely to freeze are the grossly ill-equipped, ill-clothed, ill-shod and ill-fed Russian conscripts in their trenches.

 

I read that the Russian nuclear doctrine only allows the use of nuclear weapons if the existence of the Russian state is threatened.
So we are probably still a few steps away from that.
It seems obvious that a massive counter-offensive is being prepared.
It is reported that Putin is being pressured by hardliners to act harder.
I hope that Putin will not become Irlmaier's murdered high-ranking person, because things will certainly not get any better for the West under his successor.

 

Now that parts of Ukraine are 'officially' part of Russia then an attempt to retake these lands will be interpreted as an attack on sovereign Russian soil.

Makes nuclear war more likely.
