What I remember from the first week is that two facts that caught the attention of some Catholics in Brazil were that Leonardo Boff "prophesied" the day before Bergoglio's election, on Twitter, that the chosen pope would adopt the name Francis, but he thought it would be the American Cardinal Sean Patrick O' Malley. Another relevant fact was that he refused to give the blessing, I believe in the Paul VI room, out of respect for the non-Catholic journalists present. I was not a member of the forum in 2013, and I have no idea how most members would react if I posted about this back then.

I think that a demonstration of closeness like the phone call to the mother who lost her son is an example that other popes could follow in the future, but without giving up preaching the true doctrine, as unfortunately happened in this pontificate.

This seems to me to merely show that Boff wasn't much of a prophet. Perhaps, a reflection of his sources.

He was right that the papal name would be Francis, and an anonymous user on an English conspiracy forum predicted days before that the pope would be Sandri or Bergoglio, and that the US was trying to regain control of Latin America with this. He even said that everything that happens in this world is planned. I can't find the source for this information now; at the time, it was shared in a Catholic eschatology community on the extinct social network Orkut, which was very popular in Brazil in the 2000s.

My implication was that the 'sources' might be demonic. Not all 'prophesy' is genuine. Little seems genuine about a pope who has recently been alleged to have misrepresented himself as a conservative before his election, in order to curry favour.

VATICAN CITY, March 2 (Reuters) - Pope Francis, who has been suffering from influenza, said he delegated the reading of a speech at a ceremony on Saturday to an aide because he was unable to read it due to bronchitis.
"I have prepared a speech but as you can see I am unable to read it because of bronchitis. I have asked Monsignor (Filippo) Ciampanelli to read it for me," a hoarse-sounding pope said.
The speech was for the opening ceremony of the judicial year of the Vatican tribunal.
Afterwards, the pope was able to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during an audience at the Vatican.
Francis, who is 87, has had a number of health issues recently.
On Wednesday he made a brief trip to a Roman hospital for a check up after he missed reading at his weekly audience, saying he had "a bit of cold".
He cancelled appointments on Monday and last Saturday due to what the Vatican said was a mild flu, but he gave his regular weekly address to the crowds in St Peter's Square on Sunday.

The pope was forced to cancel a planned trip to a COP28 climate meeting in Dubai at the start of December because of the effects of influenza and lung inflammation.
In January, he was unable to complete a speech owing to "a touch of bronchitis". Later that month he said he was doing better despite "some aches and pains".
As a young man in his native Argentina, Francis had part of a lung removed.

I think this priest is very right in much of what he says, but it is not up to him to declare whether or not Francis is a false Pope.

He certainly cannot be accused of ambiguity or evasion. He is very direct in what he says.

Modern art in general, which the Vatican appears to love, is very problematical for Catholics and especially for Catholic Worship. We saw this, for instance in recent Nativity scenes at the Vatican.

    Thank you Padraig,
Fr Linus Clovis gives us the unadulterated truth.

I will have to listen again, his explanation of truth in marriage and the subsequent apostacy from this truth is so beautifully simple.

    It is the answer!

And it is the truth!, and I need to memorise the wording of his understanding which is our Catholic understanding, to counter any and all darts that come from the evil one who has invaded the thoughts and reasoning of so many, even some of my children.

Lord have Mercy on us all.
May God Bless and Protect Fr Linus now and always. Amen

Father Linus Clovis is wonderful, plus I love his accent. :):)

One of the good things about the present Apostacy is God is raising up so many good priests Bishops and Cardinals amongst us to lead and guide us. Many of them like Cardianl Pell were and are saints and martyrs. Like Cardinal Zen.

He is quite extraordinary for age, I have to hand it to him. I seem to recall his 10 years ago suggesting that retirement would be very much on his agenda. That never came to pass.

    Sigh.
