This is my 36th year (and last) in the teaching profession and have lived through many new initiatives in my time none of which have amounted to a hill of beans - all have made teaching worse --

As a result I can recognise B/s initiatives from a mile away --

    Synod on synodality
Synthesis of the People of God
    Communion, Participation, Communion

This is all window dressing. It is an illusion - it is a smokescreen for radical change.

It is a ruse, a Trojan Horse to change Church teaching using the facade of democratic engagement.

Believe me the decisions have already been made - they will be rubber-stamped next year.

I so much appreciate a place where devout Catholics can gather. This is a huge comfort in these desperate times. Once more many thanks and prayers for Padraig and John and Brian and all those who keep the forum going.

I think you're completely 100% correct. I'm of the opinion that the synod on synodality was designed from the beginning to have a pre-set outcome to try to justify their outright sin and heresy. God is unchanging.

We only have one priest in my 3 local churches that actually wants us to recite this prayer at the end of mass.

We stand before You, Holy Spirit,
as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us,
    make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go
and how we are to pursue it.
    We are weak and sinful;
do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path
    nor partiality influence our actions
    .
Let us find in You our unity
so that we may journey together to eternal life
and not stray from the way of truth
    and what is right.
All this we ask of You,
who are at work in every place and time,
in the communion of the Father and the Son,
    forever and ever. Amen.

Yeah, we, the laity aren't the one's doing that..... Many of them are simply using this ruse they've set up as an excuse to justify sin, and it will not go well for them.

Oh, FWIW, my careers is in industrial and graphic design, and that synodal logo is the most visually revolting thing I've ever seen an artist come up with. It's u g l y !

What saddens me with this prayer is there is no reference to the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church; it is so generic. Even the reference, "in Your name" addressed to the Holy Spirit seems contrived. :censored::coffee:(n)

Asked on whether the Synod on Synodality is shaping up to be “an attempt to destroy the Church,” Cardinal Müller flatly stated:[IMG]

Yes, if they will succeed, that will be the end of the Catholic Church. [The synodal process is a] Marxistic form of creating the truth… It’s like the old heresies of Arianism, when Arius thought according to his ideas what God can do and what God cannot do. The human intellect wants to decide what is true and what is wrong… They want to abuse this process for shifting the Catholic Church and not only in another direction, but in the destruction of the Catholic Church. The World Over, October 6th, 2022; cf. lifesitnews.com

    POPE
Pope: Synod Assembly of Bishops to be held in 2023 and 2024
Pope Francis announces that the Assembly meetings of the Synod of Bishops on Synodality will take place in two sessions: in October 2023 and October 2024.

    By Devin Watkins

The Synod of Bishops’ meetings in the Vatican—originally scheduled to be held in October 2023—will now also take place in October 2024, as part of the same Synod but held in 2 sessions.

Pope Francis announced the extension of the Synod on Synodality when speaking to pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square at the Angelus address on Sunday.

    Extended discernment
He noted that the first phase of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops opened on 10 October 2021, which is focused on listening and discernment.

The Pope said there are already many first fruits from the ongoing Synod, but added that more time is needed in order for them to become fully mature.

“In order to provide more time for extended discernment, I have established that this Synodal Assembly will take place in two sessions: The first on 4-29 October 2023 and the second in October 2024.”

Pope Francis said he hoped this decision will “favor the comprehension of synodality as a constitutive element of the Church, and help everyone to live it as a journey of brothers and sisters who bear witness to the joy of the Gospel.”

    Further details from Synod Secretariat
Following the Pope’s announcement, the General Secretariat of the Synod released a press communique to explain the decision, saying the Apostolic Constitution Episcopalis Communio allows for the possibility of multiple sessions of the same Synod.

“This decision stems from the desire that the theme of a Synodal Church, because of its breadth and importance, might be the subject of prolonged discernment not only by the members of the Synodal Assembly, but by the whole Church.”

The Synod Secretariat said the extension fits in well with the ongoing synodal journey, since the Synod is “not an event but a process in which the whole People of God is called to walk together toward what the Holy Spirit helps it to discern as being the Lord's will for His Church.”

The pair of sessions spread out over a year will therefore form a “journey within the journey” with the goal of fostering a more mature reflection.

the conclusion of this new final stage of the synod will be in the vicinity of the 2025 jubilee, I don't know if this is a good or a bad sign (n)(n)(n).

Well this is an interesting addition, which to me confirms again that this "Synod" is so unique, that it is the one of Garabandal prophecy. Now I know someone is going to ask me, so I will offer an answer now. ( Does this extend the time line for the Warning & Miracle ? )
I say " not really" because what is most important is the fact that he still must go to Moscow, and return, before for the Warning can take place, and that doesn't look like it is going to happen anytime soon either. Besides both dates were already given to two Visionaries.

the conclusion of the German synod is scheduled for March 2023, will this extension of the synod in Rome change that deadline as well?

Apparently, part of the reason for the extension is the insignificant numbers of practicing Catholics who have chosen to participate. Which must have come as a surprise to Francis and his friends but then they believe in a God of surprises. Perhaps they should treat this surprise (to them) as Vox populi/Vox Dei and recant.

German synodal way leaders: Extension of global process is ‘important sign’
    LUKE COPPEN - 17 OCT 2022
    [IMG]

The leaders of Germany’s controversial “synodal way” have welcomed Pope Francis’ decision to extend the global synodal process by a year.

Irme Stetter-Karp and Bishop Georg Bätzing, the co-presidents of the German initiative, said on Oct. 17 that the extension of the process to October 2024 was “an important sign.”

The pope announced on Sunday that the worldwide reform process would end with two meetings of the world’s bishops in Rome, the first in October 2023, and a second in October 2024.

    Share The Pillar
The 85-year-old said that the additional assembly of the Synod of Bishops in 2024 would allow “a more relaxed period of discernment.”

In a joint statement, Stetter-Karp and Bätzing said: “We welcome this step, which makes it clear that the Church is facing great challenges worldwide and is confronting them with the need for change.”

“The announcement of the global synod for the period Oct. 4-29, 2023, and for a second period of deliberation in October 2024, shows that Pope Francis considers synodality to be the decisive moment of change.”

“He explicitly emphasizes the participation of the people of God. So we assume that this participation does not end with the consultation process of 2021. On the synodal way in Germany, we have experienced consultation, direct cooperation, as a decisive moment of change.”

The pope formally launched the global synodal process in October 2021. It opened with a “diocesan phase” that featured local consultations with Catholics around the world. Participation rates varied widely, but in many cases were low.

Germany’s synodal way is a multi-year initiative bringing together the country’s bishops and lay representatives to discuss four main topics: power, the priesthood, women in the Church, and sexuality.

The Vatican has repeatedly intervened in the process, most recently in July, when it underlined that the synodal way has no power “to compel the bishops and the faithful to adopt new ways of governance and new approaches to doctrine and morals.”

At an acrimonious meeting in September, synodal way participants approved texts calling for changes to Church teaching on sexual morality and endorsed the creation of a permanent “synodal council” to oversee the local Church.

Germany’s bishops are preparing for an ad limina visit to Rome in November. It will be their first in seven years and include a meeting with Pope Francis and prefects of Vatican dicasteries scheduled for Nov. 18.

Senior German bishops’ conference officials visited Rome earlier this month to prepare the ad limina meetings. The General Secretariat of the Synod shared a photo of the German officials with its leaders, saying that they had met in “an atmosphere of great cordiality.”

Cardinal Mario Grech, the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, has lamented public criticism of the synodal way by bishops outside Germany.

“I have trust in the Catholic Church in Germany, in the bishops, I trust they know what they are doing,” he said in an interview for a magazine promoting the synodal way.

Pope Francis has granted private audiences to a series of German bishops in recent weeks, including Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich and Freising on Oct. 6, Bishop Franz-Josef Overbeck of Essen on Oct. 8, and Bishop Heiner Wilmer of Hildesheim on Oct. 17.

Concluding their joint statement, Stetter-Karp and Bätzing said: “The pope’s decision helps to shape the process and thus to take the right steps with calmness and decisiveness.”

“The Church in Germany wants to make its contribution to the worldwide process with the experiences of the synodal way. We are resolutely moving forward on this path.”

Because of the pathetic numbers of practicing lay Catholics who have chosen to accompany Francis and his allies in the synodal 'consultations' to enable the 'fix' (reconsideration of the Church's stance on contraception, abortion - at least in some case, the liturgy, same-sex relationships, Church government etc.) it has been found necessary to extend the 'consultation' process. So, when Francis knows that most apparently practicing (but mainly apathetic or 'progressive') Catholics agree with him, how does he get them to say so and to trumpet these 'demands' to the world? Well, my guess is that every parish will soon be handing out questionnaires and urging 'Catholics' to complete them so that he can get an appearance of solid support from the laity for a deconstruction of the Church that he and his minions crave. Watch this space.
