In which case stepping down from moderating is probably wise. However please don't deprive us of your valuable insight. Remember , you may just be a channel from above, John
Please reconsider John. I know you have a big family, but we need you as part of our family here and I thought you were doing a marvelous job as forum moderator and made valuable contributions to discussions. I know you have a big family and that is your first concern, rightly so. Whatever you decide may God bless you and your family.
John, You are a great value to this forum. Please don't leave. Our Lady wants you here. If you need to take a break from moderating, so be it. We can all have off days on the forum. Luckily we all don't have them at once! I love to hear everybody's input. Nobody here is a saint but we are all on our way hopefully. Please continue to give us your valued and respected input, John. We would miss you greatly here.
Also, I would like to add that we need to be accountable for what we say and for our attitude and tone when we say it. It won’t hurt us at all to apologize if we are out of line. (Online or in pm) The other thing I have noticed here is a passive-aggressive stance, not quite overt but still hurtful. Sometimes we accuse others of the very thing we are most guilty of ourselves. It’s hard sometimes to think before we post. It also helps to remember that this is a DISCUSSION.
There needs to be a hard and fast rule that slandering or vitriolic attacks on forum members will not be tolerated. Let recent unpleasant events be learning for us all who claim to be Christian
Maybe there should be a pinned notice at the top of the home page, on the "rules of engagement." Other forums do this. It is helpful, I think.
My goodness! Thankyou. That is very kind but I know my technology limitations thank God. I'd be pushing all the wrong buttons.
You know I take your post as a yes, you will stay with moderator status. Just time out the naughty joe crows for a while. And Padraig still has his right hand man, and we all live happily ever after. How about a category for A NAUGHTY STEP. Where you can post names of naughties. We could then shake in our shoes in case our name ended up ON THE NAUGHTY STEP.
Look out Beth B, I had you in my sights too. Maybe you might be able to take the rains from time to time and give John a break. Just sayin.
I will always respect what decision you make, John. Just remember, the heat of confrontation is still very fresh. JoeJerk at this point loves to throw in a few barbs against those who wield any form of authority: Who do you think you are? If everyone on MOG knew what you were really like...of course, there are much more qualified members to do this task than you! Members aren't saying anything to your face, but can't you just feel the undercurrent...such a thankless job... But: I have enough children at home to keep an eye on...There is a consideration to ponder. If time on the forum is taking too much time away from family, you would need to adjust. Anyway, whatever you prayerfully discern, go for it! Always your friend! Guess who once said, "When it pleases Jesus to join two souls for His glory, He permits them to communicate their thoughts from time to time to incite them to love God more!
Hi John. While I don’t have a lot to contribute on the forum, I do read it everyday and I appreciate very much, the work you do in overseeing our posts. I really hope that after a break, you will come back to moderate and contribute your insights to the forum. You will be a special intention today in my Rosary, John.
Awww Julia, I too have limited tech skills.....and likely less skills at moderation! I’m thinking someone who has been here awhile, has tech skills and a personality that historically has been objective. I’m also thinking that there are quite a few on here that fit that bill....and they know who they are... And while I’m at it, thank you all ...past and present who have offered up your valuable time for MOG! May Our Lady Richly reward you! We’ve all been blessed to be a part of this beautiful ministry.
