Slow down a bit, John. Godparents are chosen to be involved in the life of the baptized to aid the parents, primarily by setting good example in word and deed. Their sexual ID isn't primary in this task. A priest, however, acts in persona Christi which necessarily requires a male. I don't see a direct correlation between the two. In addition, godparents don't necessarily have to be a couple (though couples are the norm to stand in as godparents). Even I as a baby baptized in 1954, was allowed to have only a godmother, Helen Dillon; no godfather.

 

How can a godparent’s sexual identity not be considered a primary factor when so much of our Catholic teachings depend upon a clear understanding of the terms “man and woman”? How can a man who transitions to a “female” but still retains his sexual genitalia be a Catholic role model if his girlfriend or wife is a male? The confusion is going to be mind boggling. This is just the beginning of the great murky set of choices that will be thrown into the hands of parishes. Thank God we still have some strong and courageous defenders of the faith; good priests who will withstand the social pressure.
Several of my adult children are already concerned about what will be taught in the Catholic schools that my grandchildren are enrolled in.
I believe that it is wise to wait until the Vatican releases the actual substance of this matter. But we already know which side of the coin that the current inhabitants of Vatican City fall on.

But it reminds me of the old Fairy Tales of the town that had a dragon living on a hill far above . The dragon demanded a person from the town be given to him once a month to feed him or he would get angry and burn them all up.

So regular as clockwork someone got hauled up to keep the nasty dragon happy.

The dragon here is woke and the alphabet warriors. The vistim is Catholic Orthodoxy.

But unlike the dragon in the Fairytale our own dragon will never be happy. The more we feed him the more he will demand until he has all of us gobbled up and snug and warm in his great big belly.

They won't be grateful to us for accommodating them. They'll just despise us all the more. Anyone who has ever had dealings with teenagers will understand this. For this is whom we are dealing with here. Adult teenagers. People who have never grown up.

When the body of a man who thinks he is a woman and changes his name from Ryan to Ryana is dug up in 100 years they will see and say he was a man.

This is basic level stuff.

It is pure and simple diabolical disorientation. There is not so much some mysterious small crack where the smoke of satan is entering the church someone has left the front and back doors open and there is a gale blowing through.

Mario, when a woman can become a 'godfather', it seems only a short hellish step for a woman to become 'Father'.

Sadly, these perverts are not for moving slowly. As recently as the turn of the century, what has happened since in the world in terms of sexuality would have seemed incredible. Now, we have satanic representatives of the Church giving their 'imprimatur' to it all.
