I always loved the Finding of the Child Jesus in the temple. The Joy Our Mother must have had in finding Her Son is probably unmeasurable.

Every time I attend Adoration I have (I’m sure to a lesser degree than Mary) an upswelling of happiness and love (and when alone a hearty wave and air kiss)

I always thought the sorrow of Mary was the losing the Child Jesus and unable to find Him for 3 days (preparation I would think for her in waiting for His resurrection)

We attended the public Rosary yesterday that takes place every Wednesday here in our small town. It was beautiful.

When this public devotion started about 2 years ago, some 50 people attended regularly. Now, it is only a handful of people. We ourselves had not been going for a few months. We can do better.

But yesterday, our little family attended, and it felt really good, leading up to 13 October tomorrow. God bless all here!

Maybe the answer to this question is obvious to most Catholics, and I don't know it. But something that concerns me during meditation on the mysteries is whether it constitutes the sin of idolatry to remember human physiognomies that interpreted Christ during meditations on each mystery. Generally, when I am meditating on the fourth painful mystery in which Jesus carries the cross, it is very difficult not to remember the scene of Jim Caviezel representing Christ on the way to Calvary in the film "The Passion of the Christ". I have been trying to avoid this, but sometimes it's difficult to dissociate this film from the meditation on Christ's passion.

I wouldn't stress about it. It is not idolatry. Its making use of your imagination. I often think of scenes from The Passion when praying the Sorrowful mysteries. I think that movie was anointed by the Holy Spirit.

This movie was pivotal for me in understanding The Passion. I never truly understood the suffering He endured until that movie.....then slowly, over time, the suffering endured by Our Lady also became more "tangible", for lack of a better word. It wasn't long after to going to the show that my husband decided to convert.

Totally agree it was "anointed". A very great grace for those who needed help to understand.

I remember that there was a screening of this movie in the parish hall of the main church of my parish in 2004. At the time, I didn't attend because I was only 10 years old, and I thought I wouldn't be allowed to enter due to the" high degree of violence and realism in the movie". However, I remember my catechist saying at the time that there were people crying to the point of sobbing during the screening. Hardly another movie about the painful passion of Christ will have this same impact.

That was me in the movie theatre. I'm not one to easily cry, but the tears just flowed and I was not alone in that. From then onwards, the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary became very real...

Interesting: Did our lady allow many to go through a small part of the pain she suffered on Calvary when Simeon's prophecy was fulfilled?

imho, a very small part. Speaking for myself, after many years of saying a daily Rosary, her pain became more and more real....it would be impossible for me to explain this in words though. Maybe someone else would be able to do so...

In the midst of a tsunami of disbelief and attacks on traditional Catholic doctrine, we can pray some jaculatory during the rosary, asking God to hasten the arrival of the triumph of Mary's immaculate heart, or would this be considered some kind of pretension to alter the time designated by God?
