Wow Brian, wow! What are your thoughts about this? I'm thinking about "with all the other Catholic bishops of the world", hopefully that is the case but either way this is a good step.+

    Here it is in English:

IMPORTANT: The Pope Will Consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

“On March 25th, [Feast of the Annunciation], following the celebration of Penance over which he will preside at 5 pm at Saint Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Russia and Ukraine. The same act, on the same day, will be accomplished in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Pontifical Almsgiver, as a envoy of the Holy Father.” (Vatican Press Office)

It’s definitely more than a rumor. But unless he does it in union with all the world’s bishops I’m afraid it may be in vain.

I think he would ONLY do it if he had the express permission and blessing of Patriarch Kirill.

Brian, You are too fast, lol. I had the same thought more or less and modified my post accordingly.

Maybe the fruit of this consecration might be the conversion of the pope?!

Hopefully it will still have some effect, just as the 1984 consecration was not done correctly but still (I think) helped cause the fall of the Soviet Union.

Maybe. But if it’s done out of cold political calculations or worse yet, cynicism, it could make things worse.

Please do it correctly Holy Father,

In union with the whole universal church along with the laity, the priests, bishops, and Cardinals at the same time.

I must say...I was not expecting this.

We must pray very hard for this to happen. Honestly, I think it will be truly miraculous if the Holy Father does the consecration properly. I am hopeful, but guarded.

The following statement was just released from the director of the Vatican Press Office, Dr. Matteo Bruni (link):

Statement by the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni

Friday 25 March, during the Celebration of Penance which he will preside at at 5.00 pm in St. Peter's Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Russia and Ukraine. The same act, on the same day, will be performed in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Almoner of His Holiness, as envoy of the Holy Father.
    ***

We are living in historic times.

Cardinal Krajewski was just in Ukraine.

The prophecy of Fatima is that, if the Pope "consecrates Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary," Russia will "be converted" and "a time of peace will be granted to the world."

A more complete report will be coming soon. —RM

Pope Francis to Consecrate Ukraine and Russia to Immaculate Heart of Mary

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Vatican announced on Tuesday.

The Holy See press office said on March 15: “On Friday, March 25, during the Celebration of Penance at which he will preside at 5 p.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

“The same act, on the same day, will be carried out in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Apostolic Almoner, as envoy of the Holy Father.”

Ukraine’s Latin Rite Catholic bishops asked Pope Francis earlier this month to consecrate Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In a letter to the Pope, the Ukrainian bishops said that they were writing “in these hours of immeasurable pain and terrible ordeal for our people” in response to many requests for the consecration.

“Responding to this prayer, we humbly ask Your Holiness to publicly perform the act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Ukraine and Russia, as requested by the Blessed Virgin in Fatima,” said the letter, published on the bishops’ website on Ash Wednesday, March 2.

Following the bishops’ call, Our Lady of Fatima shrines worldwide were invited to unite in prayer for the conversion of Russia.

The appeal was made by Father Andrzej Draws, rector of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Fatima in Krisovychi, western Ukraine.

He encouraged all shrines in honor of Our Lady of Fatima to unite in prayer for the conversion of Russia on March 13.

The second secret was a statement that World War I would end, and a prediction of another war that would start during the reign of Pius XI if people continued to offend God and Russia was not consecrated to Mary’s Immaculate Heart.

Sister Lucia, one of the three Fatima visionaries, recalled in her memoirs that Our Lady asked for “the Consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays” to prevent a second world war.

She said that Mary told her: “If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated.”

“In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world."

In a letter written in 1989, Sister Lucia confirmed that Pope John Paul II satisfied Our Lady’s request for Russia’s consecration in 1984. Other authorities, including the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, also have affirmed the consecration was completed to Sister Lucia’s satisfaction.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and this is certainly a significant event but:

According to a private revelation to Sister Lucia on June 13, 1929, Our Lady, appearing with the Infant Jesus, asserted that the hour for the consecration of Russia had come. Later, this request having not been heeded, Our Lady said to Lucia: “They did not want to pay attention to my request. Like the king of France, they will be sorry, but it will be too late. Russia will already have spread its errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The Holy Father will have much to suffer!”

In a letter to Father Gonçalves in 1936, Lucia mentions another communication from Our Lord: “…Pray very much for the Holy Father. He will do the consecration of Russia, but it will be too late. Nevertheless, the Immaculate Heart of Mary will save Russia. It has been entrusted to Her.”

The consecrations carried out afterwards were certainly pleasing to God but, as the historical events clearly show, they no longer had the power to forestall the chastisement.

If PF gets Pope Emeritus BXVI to do it with him, we'll have all the bases covered, even if history shows PF to have been an antipope…
