The Purple Scapular

For my family, we have received four Purple Scapulars (my wife, two kids, me). My kids don't want to wear them.

Putting that aside, does anyone know how to wear the purple scapulars? There are three knots on one side and two knots on the other side. I don't know which side goes left and which side goes right.

 

Michael I wish I could just get my hands on the purple scapulars, you are blessed to have them! I have read about how powerful a sacramental they are and have been looking for them from time to time, but alas, Australia seems to be bereft of them.

I don't know how to wear them; I remember reading that they can be placed in your home like above the front door, to help provide protection!

I would say, if you are wearing them, you would either sew them to your brown scapular (that's what I would do) and have a special devotion/prayer each day in honour of Lord's passion and Our Lady's sorrows, and probably kiss the scapular at this time.

 

I have a purple scapula that I keep draped over a cross on a shelf in our family room behind our family bible. It is too big to wear but I read that it would protect our home and family if I’d displayed it devoutly. I wear a smaller five- fold scapula. I can understand why your kids would not feel comfortable wearing one as they are quite large.

 

Mine is displayed in my prayer room and I meditate on the Holy Wounds and Mary's tears each day using it. It's very large for wearing.

 

I believe I saw a seller or two on Etsy that were shipping them from Australia!

 

Michael Pio. I ware a purple scalpular inbetween two vests.I have done so a number of years. The scalpular with the three nails and crown of thorns goes to the front with the string with 3 nots over the right hand shoulder and the string with 2 nots over the left. The Blessed Mother with Jesus in Her arms goes to the back facing outwards.

 

Josephite I have three spare purple scalpulars if you can pm (not sure what pm is really) me your address, I would send them to you.

 

I've not seen this PF, I have asked over the last few years, a number of Catholic organisations including many Catholic stores in Sydney about the purple scapular and they have no idea what I am talking about. But I will look into this Etsy. Thank you

Mine is in my bedroom right be my window. Most of my prayers are said in that room. My 6 year old granddaughter who is staying with me this summer and is not being raised in the Church and is not baptized said to me today "you have a lot of Jesus's all over the house! I counted them!" I have a very large statue of the Sacred Heart in my bedroom right near my purple scapular. She was fasinated.

 

Hopefully it plants seeds of faith whenever she's in your house and sees the beautiful pictures of Jesus!

It breaks my heart when children aren't baptized.

I ordered 5 from Catholicstore online. I hang mine on my 16" statue of Our Lady of Grace. My prayer card of His Sacred Heart leans in front of her as does Divine Mercy. I also have a blessed green scapular hanging on her. I have an image of Queen of Peace next to her statue. That image looks like a photo. I also have a bottle of Holy Water there.

All of which is on my dresser in my bedroom.

 

Yes, the Leaflet Missal Company store has them in-store and online. About a month ago, I did saw the purple scapulars there while I was browsing in their store.
P.S. Many years ago, I also used to work part-time job at the Leaflet Missal Company store (St. Paul, Minnesota). I just absolutely love their store! So many Catholic religious treasures!
