I can’t get over it. It is so beautiful and so filled with hope. I have been praying so hard for my husband. I wonder if St Therese is the one I should give him to. I never really had a devotion to her but several years ago I had a very vivid dream of her stepping down from a pedestal ( like a statue) and coming toward me smiling. She was carrying roses. I ran to her and said please please help me. She gave me a message for a little Down’s syndrome child who was is the son of a friend who is a fallen away Catholic. I passed on the message to my friend and her son but no more came of it. Time to give it another go. Thank you so much!!
If you can remember I posted last month on Mario's thread that I had the opportunity to be in the presence of St therese relics again and this time she brought her mum and dad to say hi I brought all of the mother of god members with me in prayer so therese is interseeding for us all It was remarkable to realise on that day that it was 18 years since I carried her relics and that two of the priests that were present were also the same priests celebrating the mass 18 years later What was special for me was they asked for volunteers to carry the relics at the end of the mass and I said to therese I think someone else needs there moment with you so I'll catch you again next time sis
Quis, I really enjoyed this beautiful story. You and your family are always in my prayers along with all here as the days are indeed dark, but know that our future will shine with abundance of light and roses.
AED, At one point there was a thread started on a book called, Maurice and Therese. Therese's wise, tender words to this seminarian/priest changed his life (I've read the book- it's great!). May the gentle, tender care of the Little Flower also be the means of transforming your husband into a valiant soldier for Christ! I'll join the background chorus! Safe in the Care of our Sister, Therese!
Quis ut Deus, I resurrected this thread as a way to say thank you so much for Celine's portrait of our beloved sister. My wife, Geralyn, was able to find some brown matting to form an edging. We also found a brown frame so that all the color tones match. Celine's signature is still visible as well as the angel bearing the sword ( in honor of Therese's love for Joan of Arc). Our friend is on the wall of the living room where the images of the Two Hearts hang. Both of my older sons have celebrated home Masses in this room. One could argue 'tis the holiest room in our home! By the way, the white line to the right of her head must have been a smudge on the phone. There are no deformities on the portrait itself. View attachment 10741 I should've sent this out to you sooner. Thanks again, John, for gifting us with such a precious image of Therese! Safe in the Midst of Falling Roses!
I can't see the image but I am delighted that you resurrected this thread. I don't believe I read it before. It's so lovely to read all the graces little Therese has showered down on everyone. I was privileged to visit Liseux some years ago and ever since I pray to St Therese and to her parents. I have a grandchild with asbergers syndrome and I have taken to praying to her sister Leonie. Leonie suffered much both mentally and physically and her path was never smooth. She possibly suffered from something like asbergers but at that time it would not have been recognised as a condition. Her cause for beatification is being looked into and many people write to the Visitation Convent, where she was a nun, to report on favours received through Leonie for children with special needs.
Yes her life was difficult. She was sent away from school more than once as she had great difficulties with maths but knew her catechism very well. She entered religious life twice and was sent home as she was not considered suitable. After Theresa's death she applied to enter the Visitation Convent once more and was accepted. She was a nun for 40 years. They say she kept Theresa's book Story of a Soul by her bed and she became a great exemplar of The Little Way. She was very humble and when Therese was to be canonised the 4 sisters were invited to attend they declined. A bishop visited her convent after the canonisation to meet Leonie. She was the doorkeeper. He didn't recognize her and she told him he wouldn't be able to meet with Leonie and she wasn't worth meeting as she had nothing much to say for herself. It must have been very difficult for her as she was the middle sister and the others were very gifted and intelligent. She was never jealous but struggled with I'll health, skin disease . She said her childhood was full of sadness. The sibling next to her was Helene who died aged 6 or 7.
Absolutely beautiful, thank you. John and AED, I think I'll entrust my husband and our case to her. Thank you.
I had to do a search to even learn who she was. Here's a lovely article about her; http://mindspirit.com/what-we-can-learn-from-the-forgotten-sister-of-st-therese-of-lisieux/
Your very Welcome Terry and I am honored.. dont think the image uploaded correctly would love to see it
I think you might be able to see Therese up in post 27 now. Instead of copying I uploaded. Let me know. Safe in the midst of falling roses!
John, You've mentioned before the privilege of escorting our sister into the church; it's marvelous to now learn of all that brought you into a deeper walk! On the bookcase near me are her words inscribed: "The world's thy ship and not thy home!" Your dark days of late are like a ship whose sails hang limp, but God will soon enough fill them with the wind of the Holy Spirit and Therese will steer you into port! St. Therese, pray for us!
