I have to smile. Father Francis approached me after the last Holy Mass today and asked me to preach at the Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday. That I have never done.

It so happens I just came across a clip of Bishop Fulton Sheen not knowing its content, but it's pretty powerful and I'm thinking of using it. I can inject enthusiasm, but don't share his theatrical flare. Here's the wording from the clip:

    Bishop Fulton Sheen:

How can God look down on all the suffering of this world and not do something for it?

How can He be passive in the face of all this evil?

Shall Almighty God look down on the most Perfect One Who ever lived, and not snatch from out [of] those hands the nails? And not snatch from the head the crown of thorns?

Shall He allow this virtue and innocence and goodness go down to death?

Where is the goodness of God? Where is His understanding?

Those are the questions we might well indeed ask… had there not been a Resurrection…

But given a Resurrection men can no longer say God does not know what it is to suffer.

And when there are days of catastrophe or days of crisis such as we have today…

We need a religion that was born in defeat.

We need a religion that had its origin in catastrophe!

And therefore now we will never be without hope…

For a Good Friday will be a prelude to an Easter Sunday

So long as we bear innocently that Divine image in the face of the evil in the world!

We shall never perish… why we have already won!

I watched this and loved it so well done. So sad too, they talk to the families of priests, the mothersl It taught me a lot, very educational.

    But so very, very sad.

I think Fulton's last sermon was given in St Patrick's in New York on Good Friday? I must watch it again.
