As I, and others, observed in previous posts, the Fiducia Supplicans declaration was published just days after the Church of England gave approval for their clergy to ‘bless’ same-sex relationships (something which had been going on for years without approval). I doubt that this was a coincidence but a ‘joint effort’ to normalize (to different degrees admittedly) what is a grave sin.

Now, the Anglican Communion suffered a split in 2008 following the episcopal ‘consecration’ in the US of an openly active homosexual called Gene Robinson. A meeting of those Anglicans opposed to what they saw as an ongoing weakening of traditional Christian teaching especially in matters of sexual morality. This resulted in the founding of GAFCON which is a parallel ‘church’ which does not recognize the primacy of the Archbishop of Canterbury and whose dissenting ‘churches’ are mainly based in Africa but are represented in the US, Canada and England amongst other nations.

I am wondering whether the parallel in the normalisation of sin between the CofE and Catholicism might also result in a similar withdrawal by some Catholic bishops, especially in Africa, of recognition of the authority that decided to do such a thing.

If the dissenting bishops decided to withdraw recognition of the papacy of Francis either because of the irregularities in his election or for his apparently heterodox teaching or both and called for a new conclave and elected someone else to the papacy or elected a leader pending a regular and legal conclave. How would you react?

That would be a schism. And it would be tragic.

We must never abandon the true faith of the Roman Catholic Church. But you are told to separate yourselves from the evildoers.

    Matthew 24:

15 When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand.

16 Then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains: 17 And he that is on the housetop, let him not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 And he that is in the field, let him not go back to take his coat. 19 And woe to them that are with child, and that give suck in those days. 20 But pray that your flight be not in the winter, or on the sabbath.

21 For there shall be then great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, neither shall be. 22 And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say to you: Lo here is Christ, or there, do not believe him. 24 For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. 25 Behold I have told it to you, beforehand.

    2 Thessalonians 2:

3 Let no man deceive you by any means, for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, 4 Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God. 5 Remember you not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now you know what withholdeth, that he may be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity already worketh; only that he who now holdeth, do hold, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then that wicked one shall be revealed whom the Lord Jesus shall kill with the spirit of his mouth; and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming, him, 9 Whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, 10 And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying: 11 That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity.

    Apocalypse 18:

1 And after these things, I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power: and the earth was enlightened with his glory. 2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen; and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every unclean spirit, and the hold of every unclean and hateful bird: 3 Because all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication; and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her; and the merchants of the earth have been made rich by the power of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Go out from her, my people; that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and the Lord hath remembered her iniquities.
