Our daughter Mary and her children have been sharing our home for eight months or so. I’ve seen firsthand her struggles with raising a lively two year old and a five year old who is autistic and unable to speak. Today something miraculous happened and I just know it was through the intercession of Saints Joachim and Anne, whose feast day it is today. Sam is a bright and sweet child who has much to say and tries very hard to speak but forming words is beyond his capabilities. Today a speech therapist gave Sam a tablet with a software program that is specifically geared to nonverbal children. Almost immediately he said, “more popcorn”! This is the very first time he could ask for a specific snack. He then asked to watch, “Inside Out”. This was a favorite movie we would watch when we babysat him as a two year old. The joy on his face when he realized he was understood will be etched on my heart forever! A new adventure is beginning for this family and I’m so grateful to God and the gift of his saints! This Nana is ecstatic!
What a beautiful witness. Thank you for sharing. I am sure this feast and these wonderful holy grandparents of Our Lord have intervened in a miraculous way.
