I recently started praying the 12 Year Prayers of St. Bridget on the Passion of Jesus. 12 years just seems to be such a long time, I don’t know if I can stick with it or not. I was wondering if anyone else on the forum prays them?
I have started it a few times. I made it through one year but then I faltered.i mean to start it again though.
My dear sweet mother-in-lw just finished the 12-year St. Bridget Novena!!!! She is 94 years old. She continues to pray it every day even though she satisfied the 12-years!!! I am blessed because she has included me and her grandchildren in her intentions! She is a very holy soul.
I started them a few years ago and got a year and a half into them before I fell out of the habit during a rough pregnancy. I really want to start again!
AED, I figured since I have been praying the Rosary everyday for many years, why wouldn’t I be able to pray this devotion too? I think I’m stuck on that timeframe of 12 years, lol.
Or you could do the 1 year devotion, which is 15 prayers. I did it a couple of years ago, just add it after your rosary. https://www.theworkofgod.org/Devotns/bridget.htm#15
I started the 12 year prayers in the summer of 2011 and finished them up on August 1 of this year. It took me a couple of years to memorize them but once I did it was very doable. Twelve years seems like a long time but now that I am done I am so glad I did it. Good luck.
Thanks. I was blessed to be able to do so. I was even able to recite them at the Crucifix where Our Lord appeared to St. Bridget and gave the prayers to her at St. Paul Outside the Wall Basilica. Like your mother-in-law, while praying the third prayer (The Flogging), I included prayers for many family members and friends.
I am using the pamphlet with all the prayers but I figure I should have them all memorized in about 10 years or so.
In all seriousness, if you have done the year-long version , the twelve years will just keep going. And who knows what the next twelve years will bring in our lives? I remember vaguely that I managed to complete the one year. Vaguely. Quite long ago. Shae, you know you want to give this a try!
