Hi MOG forum members, I am delighted to become one of the members of this great community, my name is Joseph and i am from Lebanon from the Maronite church (eastern catholic churches). I have been a follower and reader in the group but finally I decided to participate. God bless. (please forgive me for my broken English) Joseph.
Welcome Joseph! It is so wonderful to have someone here who is so physically near where Our Lord walked while on this Earth. Peace.
Yes, welcome. I know a woman whose husband is from Lebanon, one of the landmarks there. I'd like to see it in person some day. Yes, we have a number of Maronites here, they would go to these Blue Army Our Lady of Fatima vigils.
Welcome Joseph! I often attend the Maronite Church--St Joseph's. It is such a beautiful reverent and powerful liturgy.
Welcome, Joseph to the forum. I happen to be a deacon in the Latin Rite, but one of my classmates, Rick Thornton, is a deacon in the Maronite Church and serves near Albany, New York. My wife, Geralyn, and I were able to attend his ordination as a subdeacon. We joined in the wonderful liturgy and the celebration and food afterwards were fantastic; Rick's Corbishop joined in the festivities!
A famous Lebanese-American Catholic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Thomas As a "starving actor", Thomas had made a vow: If he found success, he would open a shrine dedicated to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes. After becoming a successful actor in the early 1950s, his wife joined him and began traveling the United States to help raise funds to build St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.[17] He fervently believed "no child should die in the dawn of life."[18] With help from Dr. Lemuel Diggs and close friend Anthony Abraham, an auto magnate in Miami, Florida, Thomas founded the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1962. Since its inception, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and around the world, continuing the mission of finding cures and saving children.
Welcome Joseph from Lebanon! I had several Lebonese friends back in my school days, such good and generous people. We had a wonderful Lebonese bakery in our town, made the best Menich with Zatar, and tasty meat pies.
