Yes; but I raised this question again about the prophecy of new eyes because in Conchita's recent clarification in November 2022 she seems to indicate that this literal understanding that many interpreters of the prophecy had was a mistake; and in 1974 it seems to indicate a literal fulfillment.
perhaps she expected him to have a great longevity as later proved to be the case with Sister Lucia and Benedict XVI who died at the age of 97 and 95 respectively. about joey's year of birth (1930) i once read a website saying that in the year of his centenary his body would be found incorrupt on saint stanislaus day (april 11th) and that this miraculous fact would literally fulfill the prophecy of the new eyes on the day of the miracle.
…and maybe Conchita would put her 1974 comment differently, knowing now it could lead to misinterpretation then or decades later. I can’t address it any further than that. When I think of all I’ve learned about Garabandal, Joey’s eyesight is just not what it’s all about, to me. And, not that you find it so, but to anyone else who finds this particular facet of the apparitions to be a major sticking point, my “opinion” is that to make it so ignores the overwhelming evidence that points to this being a valid and legitimate apparition of Mary. That’s just my opinion and I can’t really add any more to the topic.
the natural point of controversy for me is conchita's recent assertion that the meaning of the prophetic words about Joey has been misrepresented over the years after all many may have relied on the 1974 interview which seems to indicate a literal meaning.
Conchita has been out of the public limelight since the mid-seventies she got married and had to raise a family. Her role changed to be a wife and a mother. It was not her job to explain every nuance about Garabandal as she had given many public interviews previously. Joey's new eyes remain a mystery until the day of the miracle in Garabandal. I hope to be there on that day and perhaps something will happen that might explain this part of the prophecy. Prophecy only makes complete sense in the aftermath of its fulfillment. Meanwhile we must make many sacrifices, visit the blessed sacrament often and live good lives.
Hi Glenn, Thank you for the above information. The story of Jonah is a great lesson about repentance because Jonah did as God ordered and proclaimed Gods word...the destruction to the Ninevites. However God changed His plans and did not destroy the Ninevites and this had Jonah perplexed. Jonah didn't realise the immensity of Gods Great Mercy to those who repent! This gives us much hope. Because Gods relenting was due to the prayer and the repentance of the Ninevites. Our Blessed Mother stated to the four girls at Garabandal that the chastisements are conditional due to this very same reason, that is, our prayers and our repentance. St John Chrysostom says: "God rules the world, but prayer rules God" and St. Augustine says: 'Prayer is the key that opens heaven and the favours we ask descend upon us the very instant our prayers ascend to God.' Another thing I have contemplated; we know of two fortunate saintly souls that saw the Miracle before their death. Father Louis Andrea who died the very night he witnessed the miracle and also St Padre Pio who saw the miracle before his death. As God lives in eternity, outside of time and space, He can manifest the miracle to whomever and whenever He chooses, so just like Fr Andrea and St Padre Pio who witnessed the Miracle before their deaths, Joey may have witnessed the great miracle before his death, receiving new eyes at that moment, as prophesied. I believe one day (possibly on the day of the Miracle) God may reveal this. God Bless.
yes, however there are times when the faith of the believers in Garanbadal is severely tested as in the death of joey in 2014 and after the controversial interview of Mari Cruz in 2021 in which she denied the veracity of the apparitions, in these moments it becomes important that conchita or Jacinta speak out.
correcting , in fact she did not deny the veracity of the apparitions, she just questioned whether really saw Our Lady.
Mary Cruz was the first to loose the visions are her parents forbid her to go to the calls. Her testimony is meaningless because she did not experience what the other girls did, YEARS of visits from Mary ,. So you cant expect her 12 year old self to have any impact on the validity of the apparitions. BTW that's not even the topic here .
her testimony is important because it affects the belief of those who know a little garanbadal enough to lose faith with this 2021 interview (many people know the names of the 4 girls but do not have a deep knowledge); and I only mentioned the name of Mary Cruz to exemplify that it is a situation that shakes the faith of many Catholics in Garanbadal as well as the death of Joey.
I didn't put this subject in the " GARABANDAL INFO & ANSWERS" thread because I didn't want to disturb the progress of the thread; since you post something every week about the important dates in the history of the apparitions.
If Mary Cruz's minute exposure to Mary "shakes your faith " in Garabandal , then dont believe in it ! (Just ignore the other 4 YEARS of apparitions and DAILY MIRACLES, not the mention the EUCHARISTIC MIRCLE ON CONCHITA'S TONGUE THAT WAS FILMED . You're the only person Ive ever heard of who based his WHOLE opinion of Mary Cruz . I have already answered the Joey question early , so Im done here.
i did not stop believing in the apparitions because of mary cruz but i said this may have affected the beliefs of many in Garanbadal who had a superficial knowledge of the apparitions which included the name of the 4 seers; and i mention the prophecy about joey again because conchita hinted in november that the literal understanding of the prophecy was an error whereas in the 1974 interview it appears otherwise.
