Plus, it had been raining in 1917 and people were drenched. Their clothes were miraculously dried. I was thinking about that today. All of those heavy clothes, soaking wet, people slogging through mud, crowded up against each other, some kneeling in the mud. Yes, they wanted to be there because they either believed, or they wanted to believe. The Mass at St. John Neumann was special today and had a statue of OL Fatima there, and three priests, a visiting priest gave a GREAT sermon about Fatima, just all around good!!
Matthew 6:34 "Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil." The above sentence from St. Matthew's Gospel is how I feel at the conclusion of the Fatima centenary celebrations. Yes, there's terrible evil in the world but there are also great saints living among us. I had the privilege of being in the company of such saints in various churches yesterday and today. People from far flung places all united in adoring Jesus and honouring His Blessed Mother. Our Catholic Church is truly catholic and rumours of her demise are mere wishful thinking on the part of her enemies.
Yes we did and the Fatima candle light procession we attended at our Church was a full house. We walked through the neighborhood surrounding the Church stopping to pray the rosary and singing Ave Maria as we walked from place to place. Followed by adoration and then consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It was a really wonderful celebration commemorating the 100 year anniversary. I was so very glad to see so many attend and a great many children as well.

Addressing a Fatima conference in England coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the final apparition, Cardinal Burke said the faithful should be realistic about the great evils besetting the world and the Church, but be full of hope in the victory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary “The reality of the apostasy of faith in our time rightly and profoundly frightens us,” he stated. “Our love of Christ and of His mystical Body the Church makes clear to us the gravity of the evil which seeks to rob us of our eternal salvation in Christ.” “But let us not give way to discouragement,” he said. “But rather remember that the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary assumed into glory never ceases to beat with love for us, the children whom her divine son gave to her as he was He was dying upon the cross.” One of the four cardinals who submitted the dubia asking Pope Francis for moral clarity on Amoris Laetitia, Cardinal Burke gave the keynote address for the conference Fatima 100 years Later – A Marian Call for the Whole Church held at Buckfast Abbey. His talk drew parallels between the rampant confusion and “drawing back” from the faith today in the Church with times past. We are called to sacrifice The cardinal patron for the Knights of Malta called for Catholics to be prepared — with the help of the Virgin Mother of God — to accept whatever sacrifice is asked of them in order to be faithful soldiers of Christ. This means taking up the way of prayer, penance, and reparation as taught by Our Lady of Fatima. Drawing heavily on the wisdom and writings of Pope Saint John Paul II, along with other Church fathers, Cardinal Burke discussed apostasy from the faith, the “poisonous fruits of the failure of the Church’s pastors,” the nature of the third secret of Fatima, and also the urgent need to consecrate Russia to Our Lady’s immaculate heart as she requested. Apostasy He explained at the conference that apostasy is defined as the abandonment of the faith. “The fundamental nature of apostasy is the drawing away from a divine grace, which first had been given by God and received by man,” said Cardinal Burke. “Since apostasy is committed by a man who has received the gift of faith, has known God and His divine law, it is sin against religion, an act of injustice before God.” Apostasy can be either explicit or implicit in nature, the cardinal explained. He cited St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica to illustrate how external words and deeds bear witness to internal faith. This expressed the inseparable unity of faith and virtue, said Cardinal Burke “Faith in God necessarily expresses itself in love of God,” he said. Apostasy is distinguished from heresy, he said, which is the other grave sin against the faith. Where apostasy is the total defection from the Catholic faith, heresy is the denial of one or another article of the faith. Heresy, depending upon the manner in which it is embraced, can lead to apostasy. Modernism Pope Saint Pius X and his 1903 encyclical E Supremi come to mind, said Cardinal Burke, when considering how the Church has and continues to suffer from “the persistent heretical doctrines of Modernism.” In the document, Pius discussed “the disastrous state of human society” at the time, calling apostasy from God a “terrible and deep-rooted malady” dragging society to destruction. “How much more than ever today does the Roman pontiff face the daunting challenge of a widespread apostasy from God from the faith?” Cardinal Burke posed for those in attendance. A later Pius X encyclical, Notre charge apostolique, addressed the 'Le Sillon' French political and religious movement, and favor for “a One-World Church.” “How much more ever than today movements for a single government of the world — and certain movements even in the Church — violate the moral law and lack any foundation in God’s plan for us,” he said. The cardinal referenced Pius X’s encyclical Pascendi Domonici Gregis to show how the heretical doctrines of Modernism flow from “a rationalism and sentimentalism, which draws souls away from the faith itself,” and that “the partisans of error” were found in and outside the Church, within the laity and the priesthood. Cardinal Burke lamented that “the undiscerning members of the faithful can be deceived and beguiled by appearances, attractive theater and flashy slogans, under which the substance is poison for their souls.” The battle continues today “St Pius X showed then how a divorce of faith from reason, which is inherent to a rationalist and sentimentalist approach, leads man away from God,” he said. “Pope Pius X courageously identified a poisonous way of thinking, which had been plaguing the Church for some centuries, and which continues to plague the Church in our time.” The cardinal spoke of how apostasy is a form of “spiritual suicide” and according to Le dictionnaire de théologie catholique: “This spiritual suicide is after the hatred of God, the most grave of sins, for it most completely and definitively separates the powers of the human soul, intelligence and will from God.” “It is clear that apostasy, either explicit or implicit, leads hearts away from the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” said Cardinal Burke, “and thus from the Sacred Heart of Jesus — the only font of our salvation.” “In that regard, as the message of Fatima makes clear, that the pastors of the Church who in some way cooperate with apostasy, also by their silence, bear a most heavy burden of responsibility.” The cardinal acknowledged differences over whether the third secret had been fully revealed, opting not to take the matter on in his talk. But he said, “It seems clear from the most respected studies of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima that it has to do with the diabolical forces unleashed upon the world in our time and entering into the very life of the Church, which leads souls away from the truth of the faith and therefore from the divine love flowing from glorious pierced heart of Jesus.”
(cont'd) Spiritual chastisement The third secret of Fatima is not about nuclear war or the end of the world, he said, according to former Leiria-Fatima Bishop Alberto Cosme do Amaral, who in 1984 said the secret rather concerns the Catholic faith itself, specifically its decline in Europe. It’s clear that only the faith can save man from the spiritual chastisements which rebellion against God brings, he said, and clergy carry a particular responsibility in this regard. “The teaching of the faith in its integrity and with courage is the heart of the office of the Church’s pastors; the Roman pontiff, the bishops in communion with the See of Peter and their principle coworkers the priests,” continued Cardinal Burke. “For that reason, the third secret is directed with particular force to those who exercise the pastoral office in their church.’ He said further, “Their failure to teach the faith in fidelity to the Church’s constant doctrine and practice, whether through explicit declarations and actions, or through a superficial, confused or even worldly approach, or through their silence, endangers mortally in the deepest spiritual sense the very souls for whom they have been consecrated to care spiritually.” Describing the widespread effect of this failure to uphold the faith, he said, “The poisonous fruits of the failure of the Church’s pastors are seen in the manner of worship, of teaching and of moral discipline which is not in accord with divine law.” The grave evil of apostasy has been continually addressed and sanctions applied throughout the Church’s history, he shared, including Pope Saint John Paul having addressed apostasy in our time on a number of occasions. The cardinal said Pope John Paul’s appeal for a new evangelization was in response to a constant spread of an abandonment of the faith and practice, and the pope made this appeal to evangelization by pointing out how much philosophical positions inimical to the faith and its practice were influencing the very life of the Church. Pope John Paul II’s noted “culture of death” reference also stemmed from his analysis of apostasy, he pointed out. "We think in our time of the practical apostasy of Catholics who support and promote programs and laws which are contrary to the moral law or who are silent and inactive about them,” Cardinal Burke said. “We think about the evermore diffuse confusion and error in the Church about the foundations of the faith, about the holy Eucharist and holy Matrimony and about the holy Scriptures. And of the moral life, about acts which are always and everywhere evil, and about the just punishment of sin, including eternal damnation for the soul which remains unrepentant of grievous sin.” Of late, however, this can occur with impunity. “And all of this in many places not only goes uncorrected by the clear announcement of the Church’s constant teaching and practice, but is condoned and even promoted by those charged by our Lord with the care of souls,” Cardinal Burke told the conference. “We are not talking about theoretical questions, but about a confusion and error which endangers the salvation of souls.” The Church is needed more than ever At a time when the world has never needed more the clear and courageous witness of the Church, he continued, she appears not to know herself. The messages of both Pope John Paul and Our Lady remain pertinent now, he said. “The urgent need of a new evangelization of the world made possible by a prior new evangelization of the Church herself has never been more urgent,” stated Cardinal Burke. “The message of Our Lady of Fatima has never been more timely.” Our Lady teaches that the peace of God will come through two means, the cardinal said: the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the practice of the communion of reparation on the first Saturday of the month. Regarding the consecration of Russia, he said he doesn’t doubt it was Pope St. John Paul’s intention to carry out the consecration in 1984, and he said Sister Lucia had indicated that Our Lady accepted it. “But it is evident that the consecration was not carried out in the manner requested by Our Lady,” said Cardinal Burke. “Recognizing the necessity of a total conversion from atheistic materialism and Communism to Christ, the call of Our Lady of Fatima to consecrate Russia to her immaculate heart in accord with her explicit instruction remains urgent.” Our Lady wins in the end, but we must act. “We have the assurance of Our Lady that her immaculate heart will triumph,” he added, “that the truth and love of her divine Son will triumph, and we are called to be agents of her triumph by our obedience to her maternal counsel.” Sister Lucia’s description of the third secret included the angel at Our Lady’s side, pointing to the earth and repeatedly crying out for “Penance!” She also described the martyrdom of those who remain true to the Lord. To this Cardinal Burke said, “Let us not fail to embrace whatever suffering comes from our faithful witness to Him who is the true treasure of our hearts.”

according to my private studies the Warning will occur until 2033, then mankind will be given time to accept the Warning or not. Prophecies like the rise of antichrist will not happen quickly after the Warning. I think it will be given to mankind a time of some 25 years, maybe the 25 years mentioned in La Salette are after the Warning. We do not know how much time will we have after the Warning. in our lifetime we will witness only the minor chastisement preceding the Warning, like some natural disasters, some kind of schism in the church and maybe some punctual war, not world war, I think. it is possible that in this schism of the church appears a world leader, a false prophet in the false church, but he will only be a figure of antichrist and he will not do the prodigies and wonders of the antichrist etc the worst will occur after 2050,
I am thinking that perhaps the worldwide Rosary crusade and the many who are doing the five first saturdays and ramping up sacrifices just might have bought more grace for our sorry world. Thus a quiet October 13. Just gotta keep it going!! I am convinced the intense prayer and fasting in the US changed the outcome of our election. We musnt stop now.

The old Christian world, as the Lady warned at Fatima, however, has broadly, over the past century, shifted and fallen away. Still, the only rational response to Fatima, even if you are a faithful Catholic, is to be utterly shocked – and gripped by the strangeness of the reality: that three young peasant children, in a tiny rural village, almost unimaginably remote at the time, heard and reported remarkable things about the future of the world. I made a point of going out of my way to spend about fourteen hours at Fatima (at my own expense) a week ago today on my way back from some professional business in Europe, because we seem to be in a period in the Church and the world when only something miraculous – and uncanny – can help us. Skeptics, including skeptical Catholics, are often right to doubt the truth of reports of the supernatural. But not in this case. We have ample evidence – even reports from militantly secular journalists – of bizarre happenings like: the miracle of the sun (seen by 70,000 on site, and others miles away, and therefore not a “mass hallucination”). Even if you want to account for the dancing sun as some unprecedented weather event, how do you explain that the children predicted it for October 13, 1917, which is why the crowd showed up? And then there are the extraordinary visions, and sweeping prophecies, which came true, about the public world. The skeptics have their work cut out for them to account for many things that simply cannot be dismissed by a narrow rationalism or fitted into a mild, suburban Christianity. The children at Fatima, for instance, far from perpetrating an elaborate hoax, were so unfamiliar with global events that when the Lady told them that, unless people prayed, Russia would spread her errors to the world, they didn’t even know Russia was a country. They thought it was some evil woman. I go to Portugal fairly often to talk about political philosophy and culture – and the Portuguese also did a beautiful translation of my book The Catholic Martyrs of the Twentieth Century. But I had not been to Fatima for maybe fifteen years. It’s a very easy drive on the A1 highway now. But I was glad that my GPS mistakenly diverted me to the older E1 as I was drawing near the town – which meant that I drove through some of the still rural countryside late at night under a full harvest moon. Because unless you appreciate how far from the things of the world that place is, even today, you will think of Fatima abstractly, as if, of course, what else is new in the history of a vast global Church? But the village of Fatima was very much on what we’re told to call today “the peripheries” – and still would be without “Fatima.” The square of the basilica has always looked too modern to me, made even more so now by a large visitors’ center I think built to handle the centenary crowds, which weren’t large last week. They may be bigger for the actual anniversary this weekend. But even if many people aren’t physically present, to appreciate what happened you have to take a certain distance from it, realize that three peasant children not only mapped out the twentieth century’s worst features, but started world-wide devotions, the daily Rosary, Five First Saturdays, “reparations” for modern evils. The most obvious evidence of the truth of Fatima, of course, is its connection with subsequent historical events. There was the Communist Revolution, which in line with the prophetic nature of Fatima, had not yet happened when the children reported the warning about Russia. There was the prediction of another great war (WWII) following the one then underway in 1917. And most pointedly perhaps, there was the attempted assassination of John Paul II in 1981. One of the visions the children had was of a “man in white” being killed. JPII always believed that the Lady of Fatima had spared him: “one hand pulled the trigger, another guided the bullet.” That bullet, removed from his body after the attack, was later put into the crown of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Portuguese Catholics have told me they are proud of the fact that the workmen found that the bullet – what are the odds? – fit perfectly. Protestants – to say nothing of non-Christians – find Marian devotions among the strangest things about Catholicism. And they are strange – in the same sense that the Annunciation, Incarnation, and Birth of the Savior were also strange. It’s strange that God went to a woman in an obscure Palestinian town on the peripheries of the Roman Empire to ask if she’d be willing to become what no other human being in history had been: the channel through which God Himself would come physically, as a man, into the world He had created. Unless we too recognize and value that unanticipated strangeness, do we really appreciate the concrete reality of Christianity? In the very last Canto of the Divine Comedy, St. Bernard of Clairvaux addresses a prayer to the Virgin asking for Dante to be granted the Beatific Vision – and that the vision won’t destroy his human affections. Among many remarkable things in the prayer, there’s this: Lady, so great you are, such strength you bring who does not run to you and look for grace his wish would seek to fly without a wing. (Esolen, Par. XXXIII, 13-15) Does anyone believe that today? Do Catholics? Fatima offers remarkable evidence that we should. It’s a Catholic thing.
Yes, our Priest as well spoke of it. As well as dare I say sacrifices made by us, the faithful for it. They must be in the same club these two!
It´s possible that you are right with your timeline. But I think there are also arguments which speak for an earlier fullfilment of “the things“. While Sr Lucia said the last battle will be a about marriage and family, it´s obvious this battle already has begun. Neverthelss it could last another 15 or 35 years, but it does not seem likely to me. Also what Saint Malachias said about the last pope together with the lightning strike into the petersdom at the evening of the same day on which Pope Benedikt announced his resignation, is meanigful for me. Away from all prophecies, regarding the world and possible conflicts, and regarding how fast the world has changed in the past ten years by digitization and regarding how society and the view of what is right or wrong has changed, I do not want to imagine how this will develop over the next 20-30 years whitout a divine intervention. It is certainly possible that you are right, but what do you think about the connection of the warning and the miracle, don´t you think there is one?
