Do You Pray The Luminous Mysteries?

I have found it,Praetorian. It is in the Book called "A Pathway under the Gaze of Mary" (English Edition, p.69.) (2nd Edition, June, 2015).

"Then our Lady requested: When you pray the Rosary, say after each mystery: O my Jesus, forgive us, save us from the fire of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are most in need."

I will keep looking for the actual information about who decided to add to it. From memory, it was at the time when the Ecclesiastical authorities were looking at approving it for public use.

Great view of it. It actually makes perfect sense. I plan to pray more on it, as I knew of these objections and was perplexed myself as to pray them or not to pray them.

However, I do pray them as I always side with the church. We are called to this obedience. When we lean on our own reasoning as the end all be all, we fall into error. As you can see from the comments previous where others even reject the Fatima prayer. It is folly. This is approved devotion. The church is the living body of Christ. Mary is Queen. One cannot hold to such truths and then reject its gifts even if they stand in contrast to your own reasonings. We are to have the faith of children. The pontiff is our earthly father in Christ. I accept these mysteries on faith. I trust God's judgement on the matter. If I follow in faith I am not guilty of error. When I lean on my own reasoning, I take on a great burden I may have to answer for. God will protect His Church and it's holy ones from error. Amen.

MEDITATIONS FOR THOSE WHO PRAY THE LUMINOUS MYSTERIES

THE LUMINOUS MYSTERIES – THE MYSTERIES OF LIGHT IN THE DIVINE WILL

The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan:

    The Baptism of Fire:

“My daughter, the baptism at birth is by water, therefore it has the virtue of purifying, but not of removing tendencies and passions. On the other hand, the baptism of victim is baptism by fire, therefore it has not only the virtue of purifying, but of consuming any passion and evil tendency. Even more, I Myself baptize the soul, bit by bit: my thought baptizes the thought of the soul; my heartbeat baptizes her heartbeat; my desire her desire, and so on. However, this baptism is carried out between Myself and the soul, according to whether she gives herself to Me without ever taking back what she has given Me. Book of Heaven, Vol. 11, Mar. 13, 1912

“My daughter, I recommend that you not get out of my Will, because my Will contains such power as to be a new Baptism for the soul - and even more than Baptism itself. In fact, while in the Sacraments there is part of my Grace, in my Will there is the whole fullness of It. In the Baptism, the stain of original sin is removed, but passions and weaknesses remain. In my Will, since the soul destroys her own volition, she also destroys passions, weaknesses and all that is human; and she lives of the virtues, of the fortitude and of all the Divine qualities.” Book of Heaven, Vol. 9, Mar. 23, 1910

“I saw God’s Holy Spirit – as a devastating fire – inundate the world. This fire did not bring peace, not mercy, but devastating punishment. Where ever the flame of the Holy Spirit swept through, the evil spirits by the thousands fell back to hell.” (Sr. Natalia, The Victorious Queen of the World)

    The Wedding Feast of Cana:

Now listen to Me: my Son had come back from the desert, and was preparing Himself for His public life; but first He wanted to be present at this wedding, and therefore He allowed Himself to be invited. We went there, not to celebrate, but to work great things for the good of the human generations. My Son took the place of Father and King in the families, and I took the place of Mother and Queen. With Our presence We renewed the sanctity, the beauty, the order of the marriage formed by God in the Garden of Eden – that of Adam and Eve – married by the Supreme Being in order to populate the earth, and to multiply and increase the future generations. Marriage is the substance from which the life of the generations arises; it can be called the trunk from which the earth is populated. The priests, the religious, are the branches; but if it were not for the trunk, not even the branches would have life. Therefore, through sin, by withdrawing from the Divine Will, Adam and Eve caused the family to lose sanctity, beauty and order. And I, your Mama, the new innocent Eve, together with my Son, went to reorder that which God did in Eden; I constituted Myself Queen of families, and impetrated the grace that the Divine Fiat might reign in them, to have families that would belong to Me, and I might hold the place of Queen in their midst. (The Virgin Mary in the Kingdom of the Divine Will)

“Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” Rev. 21:9-27, Rev. 22:6 “And behold, I am coming soon.”

    Proclamation of the Kingdom:

“As you write new things concerning Me and all that is related to Me, I invent new favors with which to reward you and I prepare to reveal to you new truths so that I can give you new rewards. I have always loved more, and have reserved greater graces for, those who have written about Me, because they are the continuation of my life of evangelization, the spokesmen of my word. I reserved what is not contained in my gospels to reveal it to whoever would write about Me. My life of preaching did not end then.... with the death of my Humanity. No, I must preach always, as long as there are generations of creatures." Book of Heaven, Vol. 14, Feb. 14, 1922

“…in my all-seeingness, I see that these writings will be for my Church as a new Sun that will rise in its midst and then, attracted by its brilliant light, would apply themselves to transporting themselves into this light and go forth spiritualized and divinized by which, renewing the Church, they will transform the faith of the earth.” Book of Heaven, Vol. 16, Feb. 10, 1924

    The Transfiguration:

“My daughter, do you see how beautiful is the Sun of my Will? What power! What marvel! In as far as the soul wishes to fuse itself in it to embrace everyone, my Will, transforming Itself into Sun, wounds the soul and forms another sun in her. Once these acts are formed, they are changed to rays that wound the Sun of the Supreme Will. And, enclosing everyone in this light, everyone glorifies and satisfies their Creator. And what is more, it does not do this with human glory, satisfaction, or love, but the love and glory of the Divine Will, because the Sun of my Will has operated in her. Do you see what it means to do acts in my Will? This is living in my Volition: That the Sun of my Will, transforming into sun the human will, act in her as in Its own center." Book of Heaven, Vol. 17, Sept. 17, 1924

“When Jesus will return in His divine glory and appear to all humanity, each one will be called to undergo the same experience as Peter, James and John underwent on Mount Tabor, because Jesus will manifest Himself in his splendor and his humanity will be completely transfigured in the most brilliant light of his divinity.” (To the Priests, MMP #597)

“…through the power of the Spirit who dwells in man deification already begins on earth; the creature is transfigured and God’s kingdom inaugurated.” The Light of the East, Pope John Paul II

    The Institution of the Eucharist:

“I wanted to hide Myself under these Eucharistic veils and, so hidden, enter into her to form this transformation of the creature into Myself. But in order for this transformation to take place, the dispositions were needed on the part of creatures; and my love, giving in to excess, in instituting the Sacrament of the Eucharist, released from within my Divinity more graces, gifts, favors and light for the good of man, to render him worthy to receive Me.” Book of Heaven, Vol. 15, March 27, 1923

“Listen my daughter, when I instituted the Eucharistic Supper I saw and called all to come to Me, all generations, from the first to the last man, so that I could give to all my Sacramental Life, and not just once but just as often as man needs corporal nourishment. I desired to constitute Myself as the nourishment of their souls. But I felt very abused when I realized that this, my Sacramental Life, was encompassed by indifference, by carelessness, and even by ruthless death. I felt all the crudeness of the death of my Sacramental Life, and so painfully, so repeatedly. But then I took a better look and, making use of the Power of my Will, I called around Me the souls that were to live in my Will, and oh, how happy I felt!” Book of Heaven, Vol. 14, July 6, 1922

“Jesus instituted the Sacrament of the Eucharist saying, ‘This is My Body, this is My Blood.’ And before twenty-four hours had passed, with the same lips He pronounced, “Behold your mother”, and it was because He not only gave Himself to you in order to nourish you as your food, but also to give me to you as your mother.” Roses and Thorns, Concepcion Cabrera de Armida

“…you can very well shrink all of yourself within my Will to be able to form the host of yourself in my Will. For every act you do in my Will, you will make a host for Me; and I will feed Myself from you, as you do from Me. What forms the host? “ My own Life in it.” Book of Heaven, Vol. 12, Oct. 20, 1917

“This last stage of the world belongs very specially to Him (the Holy Spirit) that He be honored and exalted…” (Jesus to Conchita)

Just to be clear for anyone reading this thread. No one is "rejecting the authority of the Church" or "falling into error" if we choose not to say the Luminous Mysteries. Pope St. John Paul II did not change the Rosary at all. He just offered the Luminous Mysteries as an option for any who wished to include them. They are in no way mandatory or now "part of the Rosary".

If you feel clarification is needed, that is fine. I think it can be seen in what I wrote what my points are. It was in the garden man fell into error of leaning on one's own judgement. It is a slippery slope. I was converted in a Novus Ordo post Vatican II church. I have suffered after the loss of grace and personal tribulation by going down the rabbit hole of Sedavacantism and questioning the church. I was questioning everything. I then fell away, after being converted, my hands up in frustration. God sent me sufficient grace to come back to Truth. I know now to lean not on my own reasoning or personal contemplation. To trust as a child trusts those who are put in authority to offer wisdom and teaching. Especially one such as St. John Paul II.
The luminous mysteries may not be Ex Cathedra, or mandatory, but the devil also loves to nurture seeds of doubt. Especially to the faithful. It is his greatest delight. So I say again, I go with the pontiff. St. JP2 said this was beneficial, a gift of the Holy Spirit. I see the grace in meditating on the luminous mysteries, it makes sense. I love the proverbs reference and I am going to study that more as well.
Understand I am new here. I care not if I am seen as a fool for that is in fact what I am often in life. I do however love my family, all of you as members of the mystical body of Christ. I always will post in the light of this love and to build one another up. If I come across as harsh, it is not intentional. I make no judgements it is not my place to do so. I simply offer from my own experiences and whatever is on my heart. ❤

Another meditation on the "Mysteries of Light" should you choose to pray them:

    The Mysteries of Light

A mystery is defined a “any truth that is unknowable except by divine revelation.” In order to understand the mysteries of God, we must do as Mary did and ponder these things in our hearts. Let us then ponder these Mysteries of Light:

The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan

As Christ descends into the waters, the heavens open wide and the voice of the Father declares him the beloved Son while the Spirit descends on him to invest him with the mission which he is to carry out.

The self-manifestation of Jesus at the wedding at Cana

The first of the “signs” worked by Jesus – the changing of water into wine at the marriage in Cana – clearly presents Mary in the guise of a teacher, as she urges the servants to do what Jesus commands (cf. Jn 2:5). Contemplating the scenes of the Rosary in union with Mary is a means of learning from her to “read” Christ, to discover his secrets and to understand his message.

Our Heavenly Queen says, “...with my presence at this wedding, I looked at the future centuries, I saw the Kingdom of the Divine Will upon earth, I looked at families, and I impetrated for them that they might symbolize the love of the Sacrosanct Trinity, so that Its Kingdom might be in full force.” (The Virgin Mary in the Kingdom of the Divine Will)

“Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” (Rev. 21:9-27, Rev. 22:6) “And behold, I am coming soon.”

We must always pay attention to the words of Our Blessed Mother, “Do whatever He tells you!”

The proclamation of the Kingdom of God, with his call to conversion

“When Jesus speaks of the Kingdom of God, He is quite simply proclaiming God, and proclaiming Him to be the living God, who is able to act concretely in the world and in history and is even now so acting…The new and totally specific thing about His message is that He is telling us: God is acting now – this is the hour when God is showing Himself in history as its Lord, as the living God, in a way that goes beyond anything seen before.” “…For the Kingdom of God means ‘dominion of God,’ and this means that His Will is accepted as the true criterion.” “God has a will with and for us and it must become the measure of our willing and being; and the essence of ‘heaven’ is that it is where God’s Will is unswervingly done.” (Pope Benedict XVI, Jesus of Nazareth)

The Transfiguration of Jesus before the Apostles on Mount Tabor.

“When Jesus will return in His divine glory and appear to all humanity, each one will be called to undergo the same experience as Peter, James and John underwent on Mount Tabor, because jesus will manifest Himself in His splendor and His humanity will be completely transfigured in the most brilliant light of His divinity (To the Priests, Our Lady’s Beloved Sons, #597)

In contemplating Christ's face we become open to receiving the mystery of Trinitarian life, experiencing ever anew the love of the Father and delighting in the joy of the Holy Spirit.

The institution of the Eucharist, as the sacramental expression of the Paschal Mystery.

“…you can very well shrink all of yourself within my Will to be able to form the host of yourself in my Will. For every act you do in my Will, you will make a host for Me; and I will feed Myself from you, as you do from Me. What forms the host? My own Life in it.” (Book of Heaven, Vol. 12, Oct. 20, 1917)

“I want you to be My Host and have the intention, renewed as often as possible day and night, of offering yourself with Me on all the patens on earth.” (Conchita, A Mothers Spiritual Diary, pg. 161)

“You are a living Host, pleasing to the Heavenly Father.” (Divine Mercy in my Soul, #1826)

“Among the mysteries of light, I included the institution of the Eucharist. Mary can guide us toward this most holy sacrament, because she herself has a profound relationship with it. Pope John Paul II, Esslesia de Eucharistia)

Mary, Mother of God, be our mother, too.

The Holy Spirit will come to establish the glorious reign of Christ and it will be a reign of grace, of holiness, of love, of justice and of peace. With His divine love, He will open the doors of hearts and illuminate all consciences. Every person will see himself in the burning fire of divine truth. It will be like a judgment in miniature. And then Jesus Christ will bring His Glorious reign in the world. To the Priests, Our Lady’s Beloved Sons, May 22nd, 1988

John 1:4 – In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Our Lady is the bride of the Holy Spirit. Her flame of Love will illuminate the world fully when sin is conquered, and the age of the Holy Spirit will arrive. Our task is to work for the coming of this victory." Stephen A. Foglein, “The Flame of Love”

Glad to have you back from the abyss of sedevacantism HHH (y) I led a materialistic life away from the Church for many years and when I came back I was nearly drawn there as well. I think it is wise to give weight to what the Popes say, but do not go too far in that direction either or you wind up in ultramontanism. Popes can make mistakes.

I was not judging you or anyone who says the Luminous Mysteries. I just do not want anyone reading your earlier post to think that it is somehow wrong not to say them. For me I will say the Rosary as Our Lady gave it to us.

Yes, I pray them, and they are a wonderful complement to our other lovely 15 mysteries. I think there are 5 wonderful mysteries from Our Lady's Holy Childhood that changed the world and the course of history, (Her Immaculate Conception, Her Immaculate Nativity, Her Holy Life of 3 years with Her Holy Parents St. Joachim and St. Anne, Her Own Presentation in the Temple and the 12 years She spent there - as Ven. Mary of Agreda and Maria Valtorta among others relate - Her Espousal to St. Joseph, among so many other possibilities) and perhaps 5 titles of Hers after Her glorification in Heaven that could well be added by the Church in future, bringing the total to maybe 303 or anything else. I think it is wonderful to say the 15 decade Rosary, but nowhere has the Church said that Our Lady or the Church cannot add more. :) Some good Catholics may respectfully disagree, and of course we also respectfully disagree with them. Others have great reasons: My view is simply this, given the great number of sins in the world, and the number of prayers and sacrifices it will take from the Church and the Faithful to counter and Triumph over them, Heaven and the Holy Father Pope St. John Paul II made a prudent and right decision, to encourage Catholics to pray and meditate on Rosary Mysteries more often. I know Catholics who were used to saying 15 decades daily who have now begun to say 20 decades daily, isn't that a great thing? We're not obliged to stop at 15 decades! Though the 15 decades are all great, we can very well say more. And that may be more fruitful for us and more beneficial to the Church to do so. If someone wants to add another set of 5 decades from the traditional 3 sets of mysteries, he or she of course can very well say, for e.g. the Sorrowful Mysteries one more time.

There are reported meditations inspired by Our Lady Herself with regard to the Luminous Mysteries. E.g. http://www.maria-domina-animarum.net/en/flowers/751-1000

    "LUMINOUS MYSTERIES

    1. The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan

I praise You, Mary, at the beginning of Your Son’s Public Life. You embrace loneliness in order that, at the River Jordan, He might become man’s Companion and sanctify the water which is going to open up also my life for and in Christ. I consecrate myself to You, in order that, along with You, I might be able to baptize with a ray of Jesus’ Light those who are lonely because the Lamb of God is not actually alive inside of them.

    2. The Wedding at Cana

I praise You, Mary, as the Mediatrix of all graces which are steering my life and through which God’s voice makes itself heard within my soul. At Cana, at Your wish Jesus brought forward the beginning of His Wonders. I consecrate myself to You, in order that Jesus, at Your word, may prepare in my soul the wine of the Celestial Wedding with God, and may change my human works into Divine Works.

    3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God

I praise You, Mary, quiet Presence during the proclamation of the Word and the blessings of the miracles the Messiah is sowing among His people. My most holy Mother, in whom Love has turned into Flesh and Blood, I consecrate myself to You, so that I may move about carrying You in my heart, and each heart may recognize You by the works of my hands.

    4. The Transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor

I praise You, Mary, Mother of Christ, who calls three disciples to witness His Transfiguration, in order that their faith might be strengthened. I consecrate myself to You, so that, inside of You, I may be called to witness the Glory of God’s Son and to believe in the glorification of the soul that glorifies God’s Word through her own actions.

    5. The Institution of the Eucharist

I praise You, Mary, Mother of the Church, who through Your word of consent make it possible for the infinite wonder to keep repeating itself, through which Jesus, in each Holy Mass throughout all times, gives His own body and soul to every soul that longs for Him. I consecrate myself to You, so that Your Presence within me may turn my heart into a fertile soil for the Divine seed which is able to bring the flower of sanctity to bloom within me."

We meditate on the Mysteries from the Baptism of Christ to the Priesthood of Christ and His Eternal Presence among us in the Eucharist. We journey through the miracle He worked of turning Water into Wine at the Intercession of His Mother, prefiguring the Transubstantiation of Wine into His Precious Blood at Holy Mass. We seem to journey to the Mount of Beatitudes as we meditate on His Holy Life and Wondrous Preaching that amazed minds and touched hearts forever. We behold Him Transfigured in His Heavenly Glory in the sight of His Apostles who become eyewitnesses of His Majesty. And the last is my personal favorite. Meditating especially on the Institution of the Priesthood, of Holy Mass, of the Eucharist, is so profitable, and will lead us ever closer to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary! All are free, yes, but let no one condemn the Luminous Mysteries.

yes João paulo I; I did not have the honor of witnessing his brief pontificate, but I admire his catechesis style in simple language, without giving up the true doctrine of the Church.

prior to these 'mysteries' the Holy Rosary was perfect, the most perfect prayer available to us after Holy Mass.If you try to alter perfection the outcome is never good

I do not pray the luminous mysteries. When I was taught to pray the Rosary they were not part of it. I pray it like the children of Fatima were taught by the Angel.

I usually pray the sorrowful, joyful and luminous mysteries. I never say the glorious mysteries for some reason. Must get round to learning them and praying them. The Priest last night at Knock prayed them.
