Yes IJoP it is St. John the Baptist, and I will visit the Baptismal font for you! Also, not many people know that when the Church was built by Fr. Patrick O'Grady in 1828, he had inscribed on the outer western wall, the words: "My house shall be called a House of Prayer for all nations." That plaque is still there as far as I know!
The old Church should be still there. The place of the vision is built onto the back of the old Church. The new Basilica looks like somewhere to park airplanes. I believe Knock would not be Knock without the old beautiful Church. A must visit.
May God bless and reward you BC for your service to our Heavenly Mother. May the Lord grant you new extraordinary graces in this Year of Divine Mercy. I plan to attend a little Church in our town which has designated 'Holy Doors' on 8th December, to get any graces or indulgences that may be available. You are bound to get the Holy Doors graces and indulgences at Knock big time. I will also make the Consecration to Sacred Heart of Jesus through Immaculate Heart of Mary in the middle of the day. A friend handed me a leaflet to be used on the Feast of Immaculate Conception, especially for people who have done the Novena in honour of Immaculate Conception. We have to go to a Church and contemplate the information on the leaflet. And I qualify because I have done this Novena as well, for my son to find work. Praise God. We'll be holy armed and dangerous with all these devotions in the coming Year of Mercy, God willing.
Thank You BC ! Your post really hit me yesterday! gave me a majior reflection Dec 6 a year ago was my Moms funeral Mass , it was first Saturday, Mom was a Great devote to our Lady and The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Mom is the 2nd daughter my Grandpa brought into this world and Mom was the first American born. So in short, your post made me reflect on you going to Knock, St Johns and my Grandpas Baptism. My Faith roots started right at that Baptismal Font! Thanks again! A kiss to your hand to the font works for me....lol May our Lady Grant all her graces to you and your intentions!
