The Tudors were usurpers who mercifully left no legitimate descendants. One might argue that the worst oppressor of the Irish was Oliver Cromwell who wasn’t king. As to the Windsors, we have a constitutional monarchy which makes no policy decisions. Our governments decide on these. The late Queen’s visit to Ireland is regarded as one of the most successful events of her reign. As someone who loves Ireland dearly, I deplore much of British policy in Ireland but I don’t think the Windsors are the bad guys.
His grandmother was an orthodox nun. Charles also established the Princes Trust organization for disadvantaged youth and that has been remarkably successful in the UK since it's foundation. Credit where credit is due.
The Windsors are actually German. Queen Victoria's first language was German until she was about five years old. Their real name and lineal line is Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
The monarchs are traditionally the heads of Freemasonry in England, you can see the late queen in her masonic regalia in the Masonic museum in London, alongwith all the other recent monarchs. I think this coronation is shaping up as a cornerstone in the creation of a one world religion, uniting Anglicanism, Catholicism and Islam. Or at least pointing that way.
I was wrong: the Duke of Norfolk is invited. Apparently so are the Beckhams, Stella McCartney and Rowan Atkinson. Honestly. I’m starting to think the monarchy’s days are numbered. It has been helpful as ‘soft power’ but without some level of mystique it will become less influential and may as well disappear.
My mother always said that you never heard anything bad about the late English Queen, Elizabeth. This was a really big thing for an Irish Republican like my mother to say. But it's quite true. She had a very strong sense of duty. In a sense she lived out her vocation. She went the extra mile for peace in Ireland, as did her grandfather. I'm Irish so British Royals are a big turn off for me. But then again I think the Irish never really understood the English nor the English the Irish. To paraphrase Churchill two peoples separated by a common language. I met a very holy and we'll educated English priest one time who also happened to be a fully trained psychiatrist. He was no one's fool. He asked me a question. 'Padraig I can see you a man of God and someone of deep prayer. I can't understand why someone like you, such a good person would have wanted to go about shooting our soldiers?' I answered. 'Father imagine during the Second World the Germans had won and their army had been occupying your country. What would you think of Englishmen who went out and shot them?' He went quiet for a second and then a moment of startled understanding out up his face. 'Ah yes', he said and nodded, 'Now I understand '. It is like that for the Irish with the British love of their Royal Family. We just don't get it and never will. It totally escapes us. Baffling. The same with the English generally. I liked many of them and met some very holy ones, but they always seemed like they were from a different planet.
The fact that we speak the same language fools us into thinking we understand each other when really we don't. We don't even begin to.
I’m not sure if it was his grandmother. I’m thinking maybe an aunt or great aunt. Charles’s father, Prince Phillip, had Greek roots.
Prince Philip was Greek Orthodox before his marriage and he had to convert. His mother had mental problems and was treated cruelly with the remedies of the time such as electric shock therapy. She became very devout and dressed and lived as an orthodox nun although I doubt she took vows. She lived at Buckingham Palace in old age. She was probably a saint. Hope she’s praying for her grandson now
King Charles III is intricately connected to the Davos crowd and obviously wants his coronation to be associated with more than Great Britain itself.
I tended to have a great respect for Queen Elizabeth II, as did my mother. She seemed as solid as they come. However, it is anathema to me that she signed into law the abortion regime in the UK. Everything pales against that fact. One thing that impressed itself upon me at her funeral was learning about the Most Noble Order of the Garter, founded in 1348 by King Edward III. Apart from the Victoria Cross and the George Cross it is the highest Order of Knighthood in Britain (or is it England and Wales?). The Sovereign is automatically a member of it and can confer Knighthood in the order. There are at most 24 other members which can include other national Sovereigns and occasionally those who have provided exceptional service to the Sovereign, e.g., Winston Churchill was a member. I remember thinking that there was such an air of intrigue and mystique about it that it must be a kind of Freemasonry on stilts. My initial assumption seems to have been true. http://www.skirret.com/archive/misc/misc-m/masonryandtheorderofthegarter.html
I don't think Charles III is the antichrist, ,however, the multifaith aspects of his coronation make me uneasy about the arrival of the ecumenical world religion, mainly because it comes in the same year that liberals are wanting to impose a "liberal version of Anglicanism" on the Church after the synod .
Absolutely not true. Princess Elizabeth was made an honorary bard at the annual Welsh Eisteddford, a musical and poetic festival in the Welsh language. The footage is a reel by Pathe films and is not secret at all. You can find it after playing the video posted. It comes up with the original voiceover.
Agreed. It was a huge disappointment to many of us. She could have done what the lovely King Baudoin of Belgium did. He abdicated for a day rather than sign an abortion bill. He was a strong Catholic and highly principled.
