You must be fairly young as unfortunately it's not true. Once you get older your body doesn't produce enough Vitamin D even with sun exposure without taking supplements.
I think that depends on where you live and how light your skin is. I am Irish and live in Brazil, I think that I only need about 10 minutes, and I start to freckle.
If you're young, your diet and getting enough sun will get you your Vitamin D levels you need. But freckling/getting burned by the sun doesn't mean you're getting enough Vitamin D once you are older, I'm in the southern climate, get yelled at every year by the sadist I pay to abuse me, I mean my skin doctor who burns the pre cancerous stuff off because I'm in the sun too much without enough sun screen and hats, and I still was low on Vitamin D once I hit about 50 and had to take supplements. My primary care says all us old folks need to take supplements. There seems to be a correlation between age, Vitamin D levels (as well as obesity) in terms of how deadly the covid was to folks so it's important
Thanks for the info. I am awaiting results of recent bloodwork. I asked to have my Vit D levels checked among other things.
I believe it to be so and also have always believed that the higher spf if not all sunscreen is what really causes skin cancer, not the sun. Further more, stay away from Johnson and Johnson skin products. They have known skin cancer causing chemicals in them and also one of their highest revenue products is one that helps those with skin cancer. So evil how these companies work and profit off the things they can in fact cause.
Thanks Andy. Not much use for sunscreen here. I looked for Brazil nuts in the supermarket today. They didn't have any. There were pistachios, cashews, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts but no Brazil nuts.
