I find each of the Stations is such a window into the Eternal. It's true some of them spring out on you, like the Mysteries of the Rosary. For me it is Jesus meeting His Mother. Fulton Sheen wisely says of this that because Mary loved the most she suffered the Most. I can't imagine.
Padraig, your lilies of the valley may not have died. Maybe it’s just the foliage that died back like it does here in the Fall. I bet that you will see them come up again next Spring. Hoping
I am very fond of lily of the valley. We had a whole garden full of them at our first home. I enjoyed making bouquets of them and their lovely fragrance was delightful in our home. When we moved to our present house nearly forty years ago I was determined to grow them again, so I planted many bulbs throughout our backyard, but sadly I never saw them bloom. Two weeks ago I was raking away some leaves at the edge of the woods behind our house and I saw the sun shining on some tiny flowers. Upon closer inspection I discovered it was one of the pale pink lily of the valley plants I had planted decades ago! Not quite sure how this happened but the sight of them brought me much joy.
My Mary statue with the beginnings of s little garden. Knockout roses, Lilies of the valley, and seedum.
