In my opinion there's way way way too many priests/religious chasing rainbows now a days. Priests on twitter and Facebook are fine as long as they don't get caught by their own ego counting followers and letting the number of followers influence them in negative ways. In one parish I know they had to hastily organise a lay Communion service as the priest was giving radio interviews about his twitter following. Apparently it happened quite a bit. It's just not right. Remember the sad case of Fr John Corapi? It started with his assent to fame. I honestly think this nuns place is in her convent. W have more than enough singers and few nuns.
So true Torrentum. I think what we LIKE about this is that the world is seeing a joy-filled nun in her habit. I know of a convent in my state that has a houseful of young, joyful nuns. They are very devout and in full habit, but they also make use of the internet to show videos of themselves working and singing and playing soccer and such in their beautiful habits, and lots of smiles and laughing. As such they have been quite swamped with new noviates in the past ten years or so. I think we just miss the nuns being around, period. When I was a child they were all over my town, and all the teachers at my Catholic school were nuns, and now maybe once every few years do I manage to glimpse a nun in habit around here
That is true,..Our Lady of Fatima said many souls go to hell because they have no one to pray and make sacrifice's for them. I do think it is the few nuns who lead a hidden prayer life that attract's Christ the most. He is the one who grants the graces of conversion. I think Christina is, in her mind is well intentioned, but it is her superior's cheering her on that have the most responsibility
Yes I often think I would be willing to go to hell myself to save a soul. No price is too great. Though I think if they heard me singing they would prefer heading of to hell.
Just a note on wearing religious articles and habits.... When I became a 3rd order the nuns made me a very beautiful large brown scapular. Obviously I couldn't wear this on a regular basis so I got myself a small one. I also always wore a crucifix and miraculous medal, and these all started getting entangled so I attached my crucifix to the front of my scapular, and my medals to the back of my scapular, and being so heavy, it most often is outside of my clothes. Anyway, over the years SO many people have approached me and mentioned the scapular, and many of them just needed a little encouragement from someone to go back to confession and Church. People don't see nuns anymore, nor do they see the scapular on children like they used to, and when they see one, sometimes it just confirms for them the nudgings they are already getting from God to return to Church but just don't have the courage to do. So anyway, don't be afraid to wear your crucifix or scapular outside your clothes. You just might save a soul!
I miss seeing the nuns in habit. I don't know why they changed it. There are a few here and there in the US these days but when I see them I just want to run up to them and give them a big hug. It fills me with so much joy to see them which is why I said I loved seeing this nun's full joy and spreading that joy to millions. I am fortunate to manage money for a very small group of nuns and thankfully they all wear their habits still and I always tell them how happy it makes me feel to see them. They have become close, dear friends of mine. I am so glad the conversation for the most part turned a bit on this topic and turned enough to make me want to comment again on it but I am not interested in arguing and debating on this topic or really any topics in our Mother's living room. I have done more than enough of that around here and I have made a personal Easter week resolution this year. Less judgment, less arguing, more prayers, joys and love.

At one time two of my daughters were in full habits with two different communities. There were very few times that we were with them that some one did not come up to ask for prayers, visit with them about God in their lives or a time for our daughters to love and console a hurting heart, I have so many stories that when I reflect back still touch my heart deeply. We were traveling to Princeville, Illinois and on the way we stoped in Ames, Iowa for Mass. The five of us including our daughter in her full habit were running behind in our travels and had to run into church not to be too late. We had to find several different pews and one of us really stood out! After Mass a young Mother and her daughter of about 7 years old came up to us and said, " my daughter was looking in a religous book and saw a sister in a full habit this morning and became very sad. I asked her why she was so sad and she said because I will never be able to see a sister like this! You should have seen her face when you walked into Mass late!" Our daughter had a medal of our Lady of Lourdes on her side rosary that her superior said that she may keep until she finds a loving soul that she felt God would want her to give it away. So, she sat with the little girl as the mother and us watched from a distance as Sister took off our Ladys medal and gave it to her along with her address so that they could write to each other. We have come very close to the Apostolic Sisters of St. John and the entire community of St. John. They are a part of our extended family and we love them and are so dear to our hearts and prayers. In the last two years they started their first formation house in the United States in Princeville, Illinois and have been working to get them financial support to help build a church and a small novitiate home. Presently they have made their garage into a chapel and a small "A" framed house divided into small rooms or "cells" for each sister joining their community. I too admire and respect them deeply for following their call and witnessing their love through words, compassion, joy, prayer, sacrifice and in their habits. Some would say we feel this way because we have seen the struggles and sacrifices that our own daughter has endured, but we see each sister using their special God given gifts and graces for the the good of others who's lives they have touched and changed through Marys guidance and direction through the Holy Spirit. They are such a blessing in our church and in particular with the youth which is our future in the days ahead.

I still have difficulty with this new way of Evangelisation. I see J-Ax is still being moved to tears by the Holy Ghost. Yet I am unsure when the idea of returning to Church to ensure salvation will kick in. I will be watching with interest. Its a funny way this new way. When Our Lady told the children of Fatima that to win the conversion of sinners they must pray and do penance. But this new way looks so much more fun.
I agree fatima, As a mother there has been times when I've had to walk into the lions den [and not just as a mother]. When the world tempts and suduces our children and also when the opportunity to step into a situation and hopefully show the love of God be it through talents or a quite word; to show ones humanity is sometimes a very useful tool for God. Mark 2:16 ....15And it happened that He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners were dining with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many of them, and they were following Him. 16When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, "Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?" 17And hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
With that being said, very few walk out of the lion den alive. It will take extraordinary grace to do what Sister is doing and not herself be consumed with pride and the attraction to fame.

It looks like Rome supports her. I am on the fence now with this to be honest with you all. I think she should pull back now personally since she has already had an impact. If she brought one person to Jesus this has been a success but I would prefer that she now goes back to the convent and prayer. Certain pop music is a kind of drug, it is seductive and plays with the emotions, especially when it has a powerful beat - I have been susceptible to it all my life. These days I don't listen to it much, though I am still vulnerable to its power. I'd feel happier if Suor Cristina sang spiritually-based songs. It just doesn't look right seeing a nun in habit swaying and belting out pop songs. I find it astonishing that her religious sisters are all in the wings leaping up and down squealing like teenagers. Of course that doesn't mean that nuns can't have fun, but is this really the most appropriate place? St John Bosco learned juggling and tightrope walking in order to evangelise the street children of Turn - he performed tricks to interest them, and then he taught them about the Lord. He learned real skills to do this - but it wasn't just to be seen as a 'passive witness' to his faith, he went on to evangelise. I hope that Sr Cristina does the same. She looks so young. Not to be a total buzzkill, but do you remember Fratello Metallo, the Capuchin friar who 'performed' heavy metal at gigs etc? he had his own band - even used to do that two-horned hand signal which is straight from paganism. I googled him recently, curious to find out what happened to him, and saw that he has retired from rocking. Very wise. He realised eventually, I think, that you can't be a professed religious and combine it with being a rock star. Although it may work for lay people - isn't Alice Cooper now a believer? How easy is it to turn sex-n-drugs-n-rock-and-roll into prayer and praise and rock and roll? Oh, and what about Abbot Notker Wolf OSB who plays in a rock band? take a look. I think he looks embarrassed, but apparently you can buy his albums from the monastery. No kidding.
