It's really sad to use Satan to advertise in a marketing campaign. It's manipulation at its worst. I had to stand back and ponder this. We are so manipulated in this generation with ads etc. a good work will stand on its own merit, my point of view. So, the chosen FB pages I am thinking they are manipulated to get the fan base to buy more products since they are constantly being pointed to the merch website. I confess, I fell for it. And now this diabolical ad campaign, totally turned off. So sorry because I thought it had great potential, but like so many things it came down to making money. A Judas on Good Friday. God help us.

I am with you there. I don’t care for that type of advertisement. Saying it is about the money, ya it kind of is, they are a crowd funded show. So to make the show, pay the actors, rent the spaces, etc. they rely on donations. In so doing they are able to put out the show for free to any viewer. People make mistakes. I for one do not think satan is a joke. Or hell for that matter. However, he is trying to appeal to more people. The goal of exposing as many people as possible to Jesus. What a beautiful thing that is. I don’t like the advertisement. But I do hope it brings more people to the show that have not seen it. I also hope Dallas comes up with a new plan.

Yes. Tragic really. Dallas Jenkins must be very tone deaf.

My friend is now working on a Divine Mercy icon for me. It will be 9x12 and he drew up a computer image he’ll be using for a template. He said it will take 2-3 months: 8CF4CF69-BE03-461F-AD2A-3FDDF2F33CA4.jpeg

Some thoughts on The Chosen. Because I truly like the series and a new season is starting in a couple of weeks. I know there is a huge generation gap going on in regards to communication, I am 73! So I meditate on these things but always appreciate a second opinion. There are many things in The Chosen that I disagree with but alot of food for thought in it. I try to be obedient to Mother Church! So I sent an email to Renewal Ministries and asked Ralph Martin if I should watch it or not. I got a message back from their office and they thought it was fine to watch. Yes there are some conflicts with our teaching vs Protestant but nothing glaring. They sent me a link from a Priest who critiques it and he said it was a grace to have this production. Just sharing.

Thanks for update. I like the show and also recognize that it does not always follow Catholic teaching. But I approach it as a “show” - it’s entertainment and it often provokes me to reflect on Christ , apostles, Mary and how it all relates in my life. I personally reckon this is a positive way to spend some of my little free time.

Also I think on the Chosen app, they have 3 representatives of the Protestant, Jewish and Catholic traditions. Not sure if that’s the priest you referenced. But they consult with show and do provide the various viewpoints which producer I suppose tries to navigate.

Augustine Institute has a commentary on The Chosen that some might find interesting. I have really enjoyed The Chosen and hope others have also.

In the first episode of this serie, there is a scene in which Saint Nicodemus tries to perform an exorcism on a woman, invoking the intercession of the angels Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel and Haziel. This is interesting because it reminds me of intercessory prayers to angels and saints made in Catholic exorcism, but did this really exist in Jewish tradition?

The only similar instance in the Scriptures that comes to mind were the sons of a Jewish high priest who must have found their rituals ineffective and so...

Acts 19:11 And God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. 15 But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” 16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, mastered all of them, and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

My wife and I went to see the Chosen season 4 first 3 episodes at theater last night. I know some are not fans of the series, but I must say we were again moved. I don’t want to spoil it if others have not seen, but will just say I’ve never been in a theater where last scene ended and entire theater remained very quiet for a good 5 minutes.

I truly enjoy the series ….it causes one to reflect.

I tried to watch it on 5v in England but it isn’t available, which is a shame. For all its reported faults it is better spiritual foood than the usual fare of game shows and semi-pornography and violence that seem so popular.

Geralyn and I went and saw this latest edition in the theater, today. They've done a good job of laying a bit of confusion in the minds of the Apostles as hostilities with the authorities increase. John the Baptist is executed. A sub-plot (conjectural) of reconciliation between Peter and Matthew is well done. Also well done is the build-up to James and John's mother about to request of Jesus the elevation of her sons. Tension with the Pharisees has reached the decisive stage. A couple of other surprises.(y)
