It was announced to the world in 1959. It took them some time to prepare and organize it, but the plan to hold it and the preparation began earlier.

I'm also not saying for sure the message was in reference to VII, but it sure seems to fit the bill. Also, the message may not have said "Don't hold a council." It may have said something more along the lines of "Beware there are those who will use the council to pervert Church teaching." or some such. I really don't know. It's just a guess.

I recently listened to these Videos Beth posted earlier on this thread by Dr. Marshall and I found them invaluable. They were referencing some things that I had not heard before. Including Sister Lucy stating that the conversion of Russia would mean that the Russian Church will come into full communion with the Pope, but maintain many of it's own traditions just like the other Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church. Also, they mentioned that Sister Lucy considered going on the radio and releasing the Third Secret herself when she heard that Pope John XXIII was elected. Unfortunately, since this was a podcast it isn't footnoted, but they were clearly referencing sources they had come across in their research. I thought I knew most of the major talking points on Fatima, but clearly I missed some. Anyone who is interested in Fatima should give these a listen.

Wow, 1959, that explains it then. Remarkable that Lucia asked to communicate the message in 1960!
I am just back from Czestochowa and Krakow. Places full of devotion to JP2 and other Polish saints. Truly amazing, I'm deeply moved by Poland and keep wondering if the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart could begin there. JPII was of course a close aquiantance to Lucia dos Santos and placed his assassination attempt bullet in the crown of Our Lady of Fatima. From reading Windswept House I gather he was a true saint and fully aware of the satanic subversion of the Church up to Cardinal level, but somehow his hands were tied.

This always gives me great pause....What is spelled out and will remain in Portugal that may not be anywhere else? What does this really imply? I'm not talking about in Rome but chosen to be followed elsewhere.

    Hi Joan,
I wonder the same question. For a while I thought a traditional interpretation of Amoris Laetitia, but then I saw the diocese of Leiria (from memory) has allowed Holy Communion for the "remarried".

Shouldn't that quote refer to Vat I, given the time frame of the message? or conservative Vat II?

The trouble is we don't know the end of the sentence "In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved etc..."

I think most of us thought that it might mean that Portugal would remain entirely and staunchly loyal to the Church teachings, but this does not seem to be the case. I think that is why it is difficult for us to know the end of that sentence.

    It could be:
In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved among a small remnant.

    or
In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved in the town of Fatima.

    or
In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved by the laity.

It really could be anything and we have no idea. The only clue is that there is something that is going to happen to the dogma of the faith.

I loved Kracow and Czestchowa. I loved the Polish people, purified by many fires. It is so touching that there were at least four saints we know of living in the city around the Second World War. St Faustina. Pope John Paul , his spiritual director the Venerable Jan Tyranowski and Fr Maxiimlian Kolbe.

I think what touched me most was the empty Jewish Quarter. All those poor people murdered.

Me neither. And its an astounding revelation, if true.

Imagine what must have been in the secret to compel such a shy, obedient saint to consider such action!

Lends credence to Malachi Martin's assertion that the gist of the secret is "terrifying".

Incidentally, some believe that Padre Pio was aware of the contents of the secret.

And he knew it featured a spiritual part (loss of faith, apostasy) and a material part (widespread physical destruction).

But he paid no attention and, according to testimony, was not at all concerned with the material part!

What an extraordinary lesson he was giving!

He was reminding us that it's all about the salvation of souls, NOT the salvation of physical bodies which are destined to die anyway.

And he was reminding us that loss of faith and the rejection of God's law is always at the root of major physical destructions, as the Bible repeatedly shows us.

How sad, how pathetic, how dramatic that the Church now chooses to lay the blame on air conditioners, carbon footprint and global warming!

A sign of the times indeed.

Yes I wish to goodness I had known this many years ago. I spent so much times arguing with folks who claimed that Russia has already been converted. This would have removed the need if only I had known this.

...and of course if Russia has not converted then the Consecration of Russia has not taken place with all it implies to the future of our World.

That is soo amazing and revealing! So she knew very well John XXIII would not be willing to reveal the full extent? Had Our Lady told her that and further that future Popes would reveal partial information?
So, if a person had the rare opportunity to spend a bit of time in the Vatican Archives, knew exactly where to find her letters and the ability to instantly scan them......
The notion makes your pulse quicken, the possibilities!

What about this? " In 1960 The first oral contraceptive, Enovid, was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as contraception."

The advent of The Pill was the cause of the Bishops defying the Pope and reporting to Catholics that they did not have to listen to the Holy Father but could instead follow their own consciences in this grave matter, resulting in the sexual revolution spreading inside and outside of the Church and decimating the Catholic Church and the committing of millions upon millions of mortal sins and silent abortions by formerly faithful catholics.

    That's Apostasy.

And it started at the top because of statements from the Bishops, such as the Winnepeg Statement.

At that point, the Canadian Catholic Bishops Conference acted schismatically.

“I see many excommunicated ecclesiastics who do not seem to be concerned about it, nor even aware of it. Yet, they are (ispso facto) excommunicated whenever they cooperate [sic] enterprises, enter into associations, and embrace opinions on which an anathema has been cast. It can be seen thereby that God ratifies the decrees, orders, and interdictions issued by the Head of the Church, and that He keeps them in force even though men show no concern for them, reject them, or laugh them to scorn.”
