But I've discussed this with multiple priests and numerous informed laymen. This weekend I discussed it at length with a friend who is a systematic theologian at one of the best Catholic "Newman" colleges in the USA who discusses it with his peers throughout the country. Last week I discussed it at length with a friend who spent two weeks at the Synod discussing it with bishops, archbishops, and cardinals, including the heads of Congregations, in Rome. The cardinals in Rome are discussing this amongst themselves.

Everything said on this thread and others here has already been discussed in the highest levels of the Church. That's how I know that those here condemning Padraig, myself and others are simply blowing smoke. In condemning us they are condemning some of the holiest, most humble and Faithful men at the highest levels of the Church today, men who cannot speak publicly but desperately want the laity to speak out.

Posters here just don't understand what we're really up against.

Before they pontificate on this issue and condemn fellow posters to perdition, I strongly recommend they get themselves a lot more informed on what exactly is and is not being debated here.

 

There is a report in Spirit Daily where it says Holy Father nearly tripped again. I believe this has happened twice in the last week.

I remember he nearly tripped on the steps as he entered the airplane when he was in USA.

I clicked on the video link and saw one of the occasions in the last week as it happened.

And do you know, it has touched me deeply. I saw our Holy Father 'with faltering steps' and being helped by those who were assisting him.

Saint Don Bosco's prophesy came to mind would you believe along with the 3rd secret of Fatima. I wonder how long before the final sacrifice. Because when I began to think about it. Holy Father has already been fired at with bullets and arrows in a spiritual sense, and it is his own spiritual children who are the ones attacking him. God bless our Pope. God save our Pope. God forgive us for our lack of love and loyalty for the man who carries the burden of responsibility for us all in the sight of God.

 

Again, the pope is not being attacked.

The pope is trying to introduce wholesale changes to the Church that many good faithful Catholics believe represent a clear and present danger to the dual foundations of Christian society, I.e., the institution of Holy Matrimony and the Holy Eucharist.

Those same Catholics do not believe that Catholicism teaches that a pope can make these arbitrary changes and are therefore speaking out, as is their right and duty according to both Vatican II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

 

If Charlie Johnston is correct, this would be the pope's "great mistake."

 

I saw a story on this earlier today. I don't remember where, but they said it may have to do with sciatica, which he has in his leg and he gets regular therapy for. It may not be something more serious than that.

 

Praetorian, what brought my attention to this was it is literally described in the third secret of Fatima. ie a 'Holy Father with faltering steps.' Of course I may be wrong. But it gripped me.

 

I don't think Holy Father has said anything publicly yet.

Has Scalfari being appointed 'mouthpiece' for the Pope.

 

Scalfari has interviewed him five times, and his interviews with the pope have been posted to the Vatican website and published in book form by the Vatican publishing house. I suspect he has the pope's ear more than the self described befuddled Fr. Lombardi, the Vatican "spokesman."

I'm stupid so I don't have a problem with stupid.

I have a problem with those who disagree on theological debates condemning others to hell when they don't understand or refuse to address the whole picture, or willfully misrepresent the views of others in order to condemn them.

My apologies if I come across harsh on this but I have grave concerns that are not just my own but are shared by men who will be canonized saints some day.

 

There is always hope.

 

I am more into Saint Padre Pio's type of hope. Pray, Hope, and don't worry type hope.

Your debate is all speculation. You and all your so-called theologians can sputter vomit all you want... but it doesn't mean anything until the Pope comes to some conclusion. Also, there is only one thing we can do to have any influence in the process...and that is to PRAY. Once a conclusion is declared then every layman and theologian can decide what it means for the Catholic Church. I am getting weary of your tone. Its as if your opinion is fact.

As always debate is good...pros and cons are good. But you push it to the extreme...maybe its me but you always seem to have something bad to say about Our Holy Father.
