And he's getting away with it so far. I mean with Obama they've been able to hide whatever evidence there is if he was born in Kenya. But with Cruz everyone knows he was born in Canada. It's a blatant con. It's like living through the twilight zone. This is so bizarre. I heard Judge Napolitano on Fox today say there is nothing we can do about it. Really? So then why all the uproar about Obama and his country of birth?

 

You need to read. Stop watching fox and get out and talk to some people. Only people who read crazy blogs and watch the one same show actually believe Obama was not born in Hawaii. Did you know that? Do you thing Hilary would have raised that little issue in 2008? Or the McCain campaign? Please.

Did you know that you have a very important responsibility to elect a president fit for the office? One with the ability to think and reason without yelling the same inane 2 or 3 things and then attacking people who point that he is only yelling the same inane 2 or 3 things? Only talking to himself? One who can be trusted to stick to core principles without being misled by his wallet or something else not far from his wallet? One who respects the constitution and does not use it like he is playing monopoly? Do you know only the natural born phrase in the constitution because that is the one your favorite TV show let you know about? Do you know about the bill of rights? Do you know about checks and balances?

You have a responsibility to know.

 

I'm thinking some of trump supporters are getting their"news ' from sources like Alex Jones from info wars . Please don't. He is not a sane individual. He says crazy stuff to inflame and entice followers. He is scaring folks beyond reason.

We could all agree that the government isn't honest or good a lot or most of the time, but "news" sources like that drive folks to unreasonable conclusions about everything.

Look for the candidate who aligns himself with our constitution, not one who says the heck with it, I'll do it my way. Those type of leaders are not remembered well in history.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pointed to a vengeful teaching specifically contradicted by Jesus as the Bible verse or story that’s influenced him during a Thursday morning radio appearance.

“Is there a favorite Bible verse or Bible story that has informed your thinking or your character through life, sir?” host Bob Lonsberry asked Trump on Rochester, New York’s WHAM 1180AM.


“When we get into the Bible, I think many, so many,” Trump said. “Look, an eye for an eye, you can almost say that. That’s not a particularly nice thing.”

The “eye for an eye” and “tooth for a tooth” concept of punishment that Trump cited is included in the Old Testament in Exodus, which set up case law for Israel’s judges after Moses was given the Ten Commandments.

“But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.” — Exodus 21:23-25

We are in very scary times, Beth, but we knew that. I still think there are many good and honest Catholics out there who are intelligent enough to vote for the person with a moral backbone who has consistently stood for conservative values. It is sad to see the the lack of reason and charity here on this thread and I do agree it should close for that reason. One thing that distinguishes Catholics from other Christians is that we do not abandon reason just because it comes from the Greco-Roman model. We are supposed to be in the world, just not of it, and one would think there would be a place for political discussion among thinking Catholics who care about their country and their Catholic values. I'm sorry to see that concept missing here. It seems it is not possible, but we tried.

 

I feel the same Dawn. My only interest in politics was my involvement in the ProLife movement....it was never for the sake of individual candidates or parties.

I naively believed that i could present the case for my candidate of choice without belting labeled a hack, sell out, liar or any other number of uncharitable adjectives. I believed that because I am on a Catholic form, not a radical feminist liberal site where trying to defend my political choice of a Christian, ProLife , moral man would typically be met with such scorn....but I did not expect to see it here.

That does not mean all that who supported an alternative candidate were personally hostile towards me or what I posted. Actually, most, even if they disagreed, at least did so in a respectful manner. I thank those who did, as we are all entitled to our respective opinions without insulting each other personally.

Yes, politics is dirty. Candidates need to be called out for their personal history and their record. We need to know that person who will lead our nation....and no, it's not always pretty. Calling out the candidates is the whole point of a campaign. We are not just selecting a candidate for what political positions they take, we are also choosing a candidate who has the character and temperament to lead. To call one out on any of these is totally appropriate and necessary. For some viewing this banter, it may be seen as unseemly, but politics is unfortunately just that. If Christisns of good will refrain from this dirty business because of this, then who will we blame if we continue to be lead by immoral, godless men? We will have only ourselves to blame. We have a moral obligation to be involved.

I personally would have chosen to have this needed debate while also having to ignore some very nasty personal insults hurled at me. It possibly bothers others more than it does me because I am an old war horse that is used to incoming from the opposition. However, I can also understand why it needs to be shut down now in light of how these vicious personal attacks seem to persist. After all, this site is the MOG site. ...and no, Our dear Lady would not like to see this on a site named for her. That is why I voted to close this thread and the other two political election threads as well. If they are not all closed, the debate will only be relocated.
