I DO live high on a hill right near a large river, and it's true I have never been flooded. The worst I've seen is washout when water rushes down my hill during thunderstorms. Also there is another river within a mile of me, as our city is situated right where two major rivers meet in Wisconsin. My home too is within 3 years of being paid off, and I own the house next door to me (also on the hill) which I rent out. I do love it up there and had an apparition of Jesus up there who blessed my property when He was there. Before that, it had been the center of some very scary demonic activity because there was an Indian masacre up there between the Souix and Ojibwa and bodies were left to rot. (didn't of course know that when I moved in! and after hearing rumors about it found the tale in our local library's history with a map showing where it had happened.) Love my home and is so beautiful and peaceful up there. I have gardens and I have a pretty oak near the top of the hill where I keep a hammock chair hung. Is wonderful for quiet prayer! I also have a garden and pond dedicated to Mary with a 36 inch statue of her. Maybe it's my Ark, but I still want to move ;)
This pic is looking down the hill from the dog pen behind my house

Praying to the Holy Angels, Julie:)

I was going to pray to St Christopher but the Church dropped him, didn't they?

In the last few weeks I've been praying to St. Christopher. Since he was dropped from the calendar, I bet he's not so busy anymore!:)

wow carmel...very beautiful property!! and Jesus blessed it...I might never leave!! But given it's size, it must be a tough place to keep up if you are on your own and especially if you have health problems. It is beautiful though!!

    Carmel333,
It sounds "Heavenly"! I think it is your ark, if I am right about where you live (I live in Northern IL).
Maybe you can install a lift to get you up all those stairs in the future. Of course if the big floods come you will only need a boat and the stairs will probably be underwater anyway! A boat is the only thing I still want to get for my house. Same thing here, the streets will be waterways and we will need a boat if things go under someday. We are not as high up as you, but our entire landscape is much flatter here. If the Mississippi goes high, the little river near our house will go high also, because it is an outlet of it.

Maybe you could find another place to live for now while you work on your medical issues, but still keep ownership of this house. I don't think the natural disasters will happen here for a number of years anyway, but if or when they do, you will have a safe haven to paddle to!

Recently I posted the sense I've gotten in prayer that the Lord is tending to every detail in the lives of his people. Well, we are suddenly, and without seeking it at all, the owners of a boat! And it was free (if there is such a thing as a free boat - it has cost us a few hundred dollars already, for tires, registration, new seats, etc.) At first I didn't think much of it. But then, thinking about how it just dropped into our laps, the thought occurred to me, "Why would we need a boat???" We have to drive miles to dip our toes in a lake. If this gift is to answer a future need, things are about to get very strange.

LOL right, Kathy k! I feel that if a flood does come and we have not yet acquired our own boat, that we will wake up on the morning of the flood and a boat will have drifted onto our front yard! God will provide. But still I am thinking I ought to take the initiative. We love canoeing and so have looked at buying one, but when finances turned south it went on a very far back burner. Free is what we need now.

Someone once mentioned getting one of those emergency blow-up rafts. If I ever see one at a yard sale I may pick it up! At least it would be something...:)

That may be what Carmel333 needs right now to get up his stairs! Seriously, needs will be different for each of us, so if you were prompted to get a hot air balloon, well then you'd better get one!
I rode in one once, it is one of the coolest things I have done. Like bicycling in the open country, only you are hundreds of feet in the air! Awesome.
