Thank you for your prayers; I was able to sit down with the therapist today after the 10:15 Holy Mass. I think my "Father's Day" homily helped create a pathway for cordial discussion. Her husband wasn't with her, so we had an uninterrupted 75 minutes of conversation together. Ultimately, Virginia is very disturbed by the stark political, religious, and spiritual divide in the nation. She shared that she was raised in Castro's Cuba after the revolution in the early '60s. The extreme, current, political divide in the United States reminds her of the volatile divide before that revolution. Our sharing tempered my initial perceptions from the previous encounter; there are still a few question marks, but we separated in peace with the hope of friendship. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
I'm taking a vacation from MOG for awhile: the demands of parish life. The negative news is wearisome. What can one do but pray. Speaking of which: you all will be be in my prayers! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
You are in my prayers as well. Despite business of parish life, I hope it’s a tine of refreshment. Peace
I'll sneak back in for 2 reasons: to know for whom to pray and to ask for prayers. This one falls under the second category. I have a wonderful 2nd cousin who happens to be just 8 years younger than myself. He is a committed Christian in the Wesleyan tradition who once publicly declared in the midst of other Protestants that I had accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. For him it was a compliment; for me it was a thoughtful but inadequate summation of the Gospel. It's been a year-and-a-half since then. I have told him I want to get together with him; this will take place shortly. Keith knows the Bible inside and out and has memorized copious amounts. Obviously, I'm not a fan of sola scriptura, but it's important to meet him where he's at. Pray, not that I win, but that I do justice to the One True Faith. May this attempt be a seed that bears fruit. St. Augustine, pray for me. Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for me!
"Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute." - Luke 21:14-15 Praying for you Terry!
