I often think about the dead members of the forum. But to me they are not dead. I think they still read and take an interest in the forum, even from heaven.

    True love never dies.

Random thoughts, as relevant to this thread as any.

For decades I felt the need to prep. Put things away for a “rainy day.” Or worse. Much worse.

Now my mindset it far different. A couple months ago I got the distinct impression that “prepping” in any physical sense is an illusion.

And in a moment the ideas behind “Give us THIS day our daily bread” and “sufficient for a day are it’s own evils” melded together - for me - into the thought that worrying for my providence beyond THIS day - TODAY - is simply foolhardy.

When the time comes, physical preps will be futile. For me at least.

    Only Faith will remain.

Again, this might only be for me. But I’ve been living off everything I set aside for Covid for the last year, hardly going to the store. And I do not feel compelled today to go out and replace it.

I have not figured out exactly what this means.

Maybe I won’t personally live long enough to need it.

    I don’t know.

We have the same thinking BrianK, this quote keeps popping on my mind whenever I am prepping, as if it was made for me...

Good insight. I too have pulled back from prepping and we are eating our way through stored food. I feel no pressing need to "stock up" anymore. Strange. Is it the Holy Spirit? I must "quiet my soul" and pray about it to see what the Lord is doing here.

I too feel the same! Now I just try to keep about a month supply on hand of animal feed in case of a blizzard or something like Covid that supplies run low. I figure the Lord will help me and my Newf could probably kill his own dinner as we have thousands of rabbits lately in the neighborhood!

One thing comforts me in that I was brought up very simply and never had nor wanted very much. So if it comes that we have nothing at all nothing will have changed very much.

It will be very hard on the comfortably off and the rich I think. They have much more to loose and so will feel. the lose more keenly.
I also think it will be harder on city dwellers than country folk who live close to the soil.

I take comfort in what Jesus said to me, that He never let me down in the past and is not about to start doing so now.

I hope being a hardened old camper might help, but who knows really?

Wecwill just have to pray hope and not worry, as Padre Pio said.

There is an old Irish saying,

If it's meant for you it'll not go bye you.

    Very true.

I never felt compelled to do any physical prepping, and I don’t have room in my small house to store anything anyway. However, for about the last year and a half I have felt a sense of urgency spiritually, that the time to change is now, and that there is no longer time to wait.

I think too it is not just a matter of doing things for God but God doing things for us

There are whole great oceans of graces falling down at the moment

Yes. I thought the same thing at Mass this morning, to rely more on Him. You said it well.

My husband and I feel the same way. We have eaten through most of what we stocked up on during Covid and haven't restocked. Spiritually though, I feel like we've grown more spiritually in this past year than in any previous year...really through what God seems to have led us through, not by our own undertaking. He's been teaching us patience, trust, detachment, and taking us deeper and deeper into prayer. It's actually been a very painful process. But God does all things well.

It's funny... A couple of years ago, when I was more afraid of what is to come, I wanted to get out into the country, hunker down, get self-reliant and feel safe compared to being in the city.... But this past year, as we bought our land and have been getting out house built, so much has changed in me and my husband's hearts and minds... And incredible spiritual growth has happened in our children...To where now we have all detached from things like comfort, stability, and the desire to hunker down. A very keen sense of "the world is thy ship, and not thy home" has come over us, along with a hope and an openness to wherever God may lead us. It has been strange and wonderful and makes me wonder what God is doing.

Yes definitely it is spiritual. I have prayed to God to send me a Daniel{old testament Daniel, CHAPTER 14 | USCCB, to solve something going on at the house. Not long ago I heard clearly deep inside me-You are the Daniel I have sent. Now I am nothing but a little pray-er, all I can do is pray, but prayer is what is called for now.

I had been prepping for a few years, possibly more food is gone off now than I have stored away all my own fault. But this last year I was thought a lesson where we needed to move house, myself with family and commute a distance each day, we were way too busy for prepping, I really had to let God take over and carry us or learn how to do that.. We just had enough time and money to buy food for our day to day. It was a valuable lesson, I am not prepping now that we have finally moved back home after we finished the renovation on the house. I have a pollytunnel and a garden and will keep growing food, which I find as much spiritual and peaceful as it is prepping. I need to focus more on spiritual prepping.

I’m still in NYC. I passed by a Christian band in the city’s center today. They were singing praise to Jesus. It was so beautiful. Surprisingly, the singing band were young Chinese Christians. At first such joy came rushing into my heart in hearing the name of Jesus being praised with so much love. But looking around me, it made me feel so alone. Few stopped to listen. They ignored the music. Just a few of us had gathered to give the small band support. How sorry I felt for Our Lord. Please pray for New York, California, and Hawaii. I think there is more to come. And it won’t be easy.

Yes. I think you are right. God bless those fervent young Christians.

I believe what is coming is coming for all Nations and all Peoples for we have all of us fallen far short of the Glory of God. No one is going to get a Free Pass were we can just watch.

But for good people doing their best it will be a great means of sanctification and let's face it all of are sinners and could do with a little purification.

None of us are going to get a free ticket to watch things on tube.

Sometimes I day dream that I could hie off to the wilderness in my little caravan if the curtain falls, or hidden away in remote Spain.

But who knows really? Such huge events loom, how can we really get set for things so world changing?
