I was delighted when Trump beat Hillary but I never harboured illusions about him, his personal morals appear to be questionable at the very least. He knew where is base was and he played to it (doing some great things along the way) but his pretence at being a principled politician was always skin deep. Now, he's claiming to be a consensus politician rather than a principled one and, let's face it, he just wants to win whatever it takes. Biden once said about 'gay marriage' 'it's never going to happen and it shouldn't and I don't even know why we're even talking about it'. A few years down the line, he's 'marrying' a gay couple as VP. They just love the power and will do whatever it takes to get/retain it.

When abortion was still a fairly undecided topic especially in the south of the US. A journalist talking to Bill and Hillary before an election for Arkansas governor asked them what their view was of abortion. Hillary apparently blurted out 'we won't commit on this until the latest polling results to come in'. The journalist was astonished at her naivety/stupidity/honesty in disclosing what politics is mostly about - mirror the public's view on any subject and pretend that it is your own strongly held position.

 

I personally think it's a game of cat and mouse. I have read that republicans and dems are 2 peas in a pod. I read it in a mystics prophecy a few years ago. Can't remember who but I will research. Things happen to make our blood boil. politics is dirty and isn't so real anymore. Most of them are bought and paid for. They just all have a part to play. I don't believe any of them. DeSantis suspends scholarships to Florida schools with ‘ties to the Chinese Communist Party’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) office announced Friday the suspension of school choice scholarships to four schools over their alleged “direct ties to the Chinese Communist Party.”

“Through a thorough investigation, [the Florida Department of Education] has determined that Lower and Upper Sagemont Preparatory Schools in Weston, Parke House Academy in Winter Park, and Park Maitland School in Winter Park have direct ties to the CCP and their connections constitute an imminent threat to the health, safety, and welfare of these school’s students and the public,” reads a news release from the governor’s office.

noted a bill DeSantis signed into law in May barring private schools in the state from “participating in an educational scholarship program” if they are “owned or operated by a person or an entity domiciled in, owned by, or in any way controlled by a foreign country of concern or foreign principal.” The law then references a different law that lists China as a “country of concern.”

“The Chinese Communist Party is not welcome in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said in the release. “We will not put up with any attempt to influence students with a communist ideology or allow Floridians’ tax dollars to go to schools that are connected to our foreign adversaries.”

The schools are part of “a multi-brand education network” called Spring Education Group. On the schools’ websites, the group says it is “controlled by Primavera Holdings Limited, an investment firm (together with its affiliates) principally based in Hong Kong with operations in China, Singapore, and the United States, that is itself owned by Chinese persons residing in Hong Kong.”

DeSantis has also recently signed bills that ban Chinese citizens from buying land in Florida and make the state’s Department of Management Services “create a list of prohibited applications owned by a foreign principal or foreign countries of concern, including China, which present a cybersecurity and data privacy risk.”

A federal judge denied a request by Chinese citizens to halt the land ownership law in August.
