Agree that recent immigrants have no intent to assimilate. But is it their “ fault” when the government essentially provides everything and in eats days don’t assimilate. As tough as it must have been, immigrants of the past had to adapt to the culture not the other way around. And interesting as they adapted, the culture of US blended in these new culture. It was not forced. It did not create separateness. Ironically we have laws now to force inclusiveness but in effect we are more then apart then ever. I blame politicians. Especially the Dem liberals. They created this mess with their policies. But do they ever put themselves in the way. They use tax dollars to pay for all of this. But not in their neighborhoods. And they’ve ruined big cities so much that now they want to bus people to small surrounding towns and villages as the cities can’t deal with it anymore. Don’t hold you breath that Thurs little towns are where they live and raise families. They are hypocrites. and this is not a prejudice. I’ve no problem helping immigrants. But how do you help when your own community is pulled down? There had got to be a plan that makes it sustainable. I don't think Ireland really has its own Government no more than I think most countries in Europe or the USA itself have a real Government. I'm on holidays out of the country. Was flabbergasted when I heard about this tragedy and the riot. Did the government really blame right wing extremism for the riot? That area was Tony Gregory's stomping ground. Anything to the right of Marx would be as rare as hen's teeth there. What remains of Gregory's supporters would likely regard the two governing parties as the far right extremists and they could probably make a stronger argument on matters fiscal. There's no difference between any of them on issues of traditional family values. It looks like the core of the reaction had a degree of organising to it which suggests a possibility of pre-planning - rebels waiting for a cause. There may be turf wars on the ground between the various strands of what could be called far left socialism which was never averse to manipulating nationalism when it served a purpose. There's an impression around that SF is gaining ground with young voters. There could be all sorts of dark forces manipulating local anger behind the scenes. Calling the rioters any shade of "left" wouldn't have the desired effect on our young and trendy voters who believe all the BS peddled by the globalist elites so anything that upsets the apple cart needs to be labeled far right extremist. That area is already minority Irish. The mainstream leftists are likely following the example of the British Labour party with a view to establishing a strong voter base with the "new Irish" in the area. Likewise with the two major parties. There's zero chance that any of the politicians will let this crisis go to waste. How they respond will depend on where they perceive the most gain for their own interests. It could be awkward for SF.
