What you say is true; Palestinians might be filled with resentment that the attack of Hamas has caused such an overwhelming response from Israel. But that doesn't lessen their contempt for Jews. It has simply enlarged their suffering and resentment maybe even toward God? And who are they to reach out to for help? Egypt reluctantly allowed refugees to filter into the Sinai and the American fleet now stands ready to punish any other Arabs who dare expand the war against Israel.

Absolutely nothing good has come of this horrific carnage and destruction. When we're left discerning who is least culpable, then there are really no winners. As Catholics, we uphold the Just War theory, but neither the Ukraine War nor this conflict show forth the restraint indicative of the Church's teaching. From the destruction of Russia's pipeline, to the loss of over 250,000 Ukrainian solders, to the demolition of Gaza, nothing makes sense to me. I only grieve.

I think of the conflict in Vietnam Nam. The same pattern. The Vietnam Cong grew in strength and local support the more the US tried to eradicate them. I was watching a documentary on Francis Marion aka The Swamp Fox. He and his men fought a guerrilla war against the far superior British forces. The more the British terrorized the countryside the more support grew for the rebels. It ended in the defeat if the British at Yorktown. Violence always begets violence. Having said that, the actions of Hamas in their murderous attack of October 7th clearly make them war criminals. I am not sure what Israel could have done to redress that bloody attack. Its a hellish situation for the Middle East and for the world.

 

Had missed this. When I start getting too angry at Jews, I try and remember the late Nat Hentoff, Jew, atheist and passionate campaigner against abortion (there is a great likelihood God caught him at the end).

Whence reflecting on all of the above, it is probably worth noting that this one sided 'war' may well not be supported by the ordinary Israeli in the street...
We are told Israel is doing it. That the Jews are doing it. But unless they outrightly support what is happening, then the ordinary Israeli has absolutely no say in it; no more than the ordinary American had any say in the invasions of Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan etc.

Our leaders are evil.

Polls suggest the Israeli people are strongly in favor of the entire removal of the Palestinians from both Gaza and the West Bank.

I have read recently that someone unknown placed a huge 'short' bet on the Israel economy on October 2nd. I know little to nothing about high finance, but apparently this was a kind of 'investment' that expected the economy of Israel was about to receive a negative blow and would return a large profit if the expectation was fulfilled, which it was five days later. This seems to strongly indicate that the investors knew of the upcoming Hamas attack. Perhaps, it was Hamas itself who made the investment. If not...

 

Mossad is aware of every move Hamas makes or will be making. It’s very odd that it caught the Israeli top military officials by surprise. Having Biden finance Iran may have gotten some of them very rattled. Anything is possible. Biden has spent more money on Ukraine than any spending we’ve ever given to Israel. That was a major mistake.

 

In the alt media world there are strong suspicions of links between Hamas and Netanyahu/Israel. That Israel actually financed Hamas in order to get rid of the PLO. Such machinations would have been hard for me to believe before the covid "campaign" but now I am beginning to see there are wheels within wheels and schemes within schemes. And nothing is off the table any more. Even those who claim 911 was an inside job. It no longer sounds like tin foil hats. Covid ripped the mask off ( pardon the pun) --there for all to see --- collusion among all the "big" stake holders. Whistle blowers were silenced. Its beginning to look like a play book.

If I was on the fence, I have long since come off it. Israel is truly a disgrace to it's own religion!

 

There are many innocent Jews in Israel. If this was planned it may have come from the military.

 

It depends on whether one is thinking of the Torahist or Talmudic version of Judaism. The latter are, as usual, following their religion to the absolute letter of the law. The Talmudic rabbis are the descendents of the Pharisees who opposed Our Lord, with attitudes similar to Saul, who became Paul. Most Zionist Jews seem to hold to Talmudic views, even if they're atheists. There seem to be a huge number of Zionists within the Biden administration, also. Their contempt for Islam is exceeded only by their hatred of Christianity, something that is clear within the texts of the Talmud.

 

And the US is complicit in this catastrophe I’m sorry to say.

 

I just finished reading the Book of Joshua. It tells how after the Hebrews arrived in the Promised Land , under the leadership of Joshua and the direction of God they pretty well ethnically cleansed all the folks who already lived there, in some cases like the City of Jericho wiping out everyone and everything, man, woman child and every living creature. Nothing was left alive.

There are very fundamentalist Jews in the Israeli Government and elsewhere and I suspect they believe all this applies to the Palestinians , that God not only permits them but orders them to wipe out the Palestinians. Which is why one Israeli Minister wanted to Nuke Gaza.
