I’m with DeGaulle who said he “must trust the official decisions of the Church unless there are irrefutable reasons not to do so.”
Otherwise, I’m placing myself above my layperson status.
But I’m waiting on word for this one.

I am just getting round to reading posts that I missed and saw this post. I can't take any credit for my love of the Virgin Julia and owe it all to my readings of the mystics, in particular of the writings of Maria Valtorta.

I am compelled to repeat the words of Mariologist Fr Gabriel Roschini who said about those works "... I must candidly admit that the Mariology found in all of Maria Valtorta's writings – both published or unpublished – has been for me a real discovery. No other Marian writings, not even the sum total of everything I have read and studied, were able to give me as clear, as lively, as complete, as luminous, or as fascinating an image, both simple and sublime, of Mary, God's Masterpiece."

To anyone who wants to better understand and love the Blessed Mother, I would recommend reading The Poem of the Man God (paper books here and free downloads here)

I don't wish to re-open any arguments in this thread, but just wanted to point out that the Virgin Mary is the holiest creature on earth Who obtained the highest honor in heaven and took the opening left by Lucifer. So she is the most powerful person in heaven under the Holy Trinity and is Queen of Heaven and Queen of the Angels too. She had this position while on earth since the archangel Gabriel was in reverence before Her before the Incarnation occurred. She was Queen at Her Immaculate Conception when She was already Full of Grace. Full of Grace is another way of saying Full of God and the angels themselves were in awe before Her because She is God's masterpiece.

The Virgin also represents the Church, so when we think of God giving power away, consider how great a power He gave to His Church. Immense power in the hands of mere men (err, and how shall I say this charitably : many of whom who are not necessarily deserving that power in these times...) If He can give men all of that power, why would He not give it to His Most Holy Mother?

I recommended the writings of Maria Valtorta in my previous post. In those writings, She was clearly the co-redemptrix and She knew it while on earth.

I absolutely agree with what you say, but in this feminist age I would be wary of those who call God 'she'. These kind of people are still hiding in the long grass. The potential for misinterpretation and heresy would need to be countered by complete unambiguity and clarity. Imagine what a statement by Pope Francis on this subject would be like.

In the name of the Father, The Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,
and enkindle in them the fire of your love.

    V. Send forth your Spirit, O Lord, and they shall be created.
    R. And you shall renew the face of the earth.

    Let Us Pray
    :
God Our Father, pour out the gifts of your Holy Spirit on the world. You sent the Spirit on your Church to begin the teaching of the Gospel: now let the Spirit continue to work in the world through the hearts of all who believe, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

    V. You, O Lord, will open my lips
    R. And my tongue shall announce your praise.
    V. Incline unto my aid, O God.
    R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
    V. Glory be to the Father, etc.
    R. As it was in the beginning, etc.

You Oh God from the beginning of infinity, have the oneness of the Three Divine persons in Your Godhead
Oh God you, contain all truths
Blessed Trinity in Thy oneness we see the perfection of Thy love; thank you dearest King
You have deemed that little man can comprehend the greatness of your being
For You alone have the power of Love that begets your Triune presence.

The singularity of Your Love effects the knowledge of this Love (The second person of the Blessed Trinity) and this Love spontaneously conceives the Immaculata (the most Holy Spirit).

Thank you Father for giving us your Immaculate daughter
Thank you Jesus for giving us your Immaculate mother
Thank you Holy Spirit for giving us your Immaculate Spouse.

Then Follows five decades of the Rosary, with
    the "Hail, Holy Queen".

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, Hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you, we cry poor
banished children of Eve, to you we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, O most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us and after this, our exile, show us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
    V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
    R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us Pray. O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation; grant we beseech you, that meditating upon these mysteries in the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord, Amen.

    V.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R. Have mercy on us.
    V. Immaculate Heart of Mary R. Pray for us.
    V. St. Joseph R. Pray for us.
    V. St. John the Evangelist R. Pray for us.
    V. St. Louis-Marie de Montfort R. Pray for us.

In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the
    Holy Spirit, Amen.
    The Catena Legionis

Antiphon. Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array?

    My soul glorifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour. He looks on his servant in her lowliness;
henceforth all ages will call me blessed.

The Almighty works marvels for me.
    Holy is his name!
His mercy is from age to age, on those who fear him.

He puts forth his arm in strength and scatters the
proud-hearted. He casts the mighty from their thrones and raises the lowly.

He fills the starving with good things, sends
    the rich away empty.

    He protects Israel, his servant,
    remembering his mercy,
the mercy promised to our fathers,
to Abraham and his sons forever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
    and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
    world without end, Amen.

Antiphon. Who is she that comes forth as the
morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the
sun, terrible as an army set in battle array?

    V. O Mary, conceived without sin
    R. Pray for us who have recourse to you.

    Let Us Pray

O Lord Jesus Christ, our mediator with the Father, you have been pleased to appoint the most Blessed Virgin, your mother, to be our mother also, and our mediatrix
with you, mercifully grant that whoever comes to you, seeking your favours may rejoice to receive all of them through her.
    Amen.

In the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.

    We fly to your patronage, O Holy Mother of God;
despise not our prayers in our necessities,
but ever deliver us from all dangers, O glorious
    and Blessed Virgin.

    V. Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of all Graces
    (or, Invocation appropriate to Praesidium)
    R. Pray for us.

    V. St Joseph, Most Pure Spouse of the Holy Virgin
    R. Pray for us.

    V. St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael
    R. Pray for us.

    V. All you heavenly Powers,
    Mary’s Legions of Angels
    R. Pray for us.

    V. St. John the Baptist
    R. Pray for us.

    V. Saints Peter and Paul.
    R. Pray for us.

Confer, O Lord, on us, who serve beneath the Standard of Mary, that fullness of faith in you, and trust in her, to which it is given to conquer the world. Grant us a lively faith, animated by charity, which will enable us to perform all our actions from the motive of pure love of you, and ever to see you and serve you in our neighbor; a faith, firm and immovable as a rock, through which we shall rest tranquil and steadfast amid the crosses, toils and disappointments of life; a courageous faith which will inspire us to undertake and carry out without hesitation great things for your glory and for the salvation of souls; a faith which will be our Legion’s Pillar of Fire - to lead us forth united - to kindle everywhere the fires of divine love - to enlighten those who are in darkness and the shadow of death - to inflame those who are lukewarm - to bring life to those who are dead in sin; and which will guide our own feet in the way of peace; so that - the battle of life over -
our Legion may reassemble, without the loss of anyone, in the kingdom of your love and glory.
    Amen.

May the souls of our departed Legionaries, and
the souls of all the faithful departed through the
mercy of God rest in peace.
    Amen.

In the Name of the Father , Son, and Holy Spirit
    Amen.

But the Akita statue has a beautiful Japanese face. For me this speaks to its authenticity. Common sense tells me that visionaries will see Our Lady as a person that looks familiar ie French to Bernadette, Portuguese to the little shepherds and Native American to Juan Diego

Padraig this post is unworthy of you and does not do you justice. Initially I liked it but then changed my mind. Some would consider me a very traditionalist perhaps right wing Catholic and there is so much about "....church of accompaniment " which I despise , but, we are talking about the barque of Peter, eternal Rome to where all roads lead. Undoubtedly there are those within it who would do harm to our centuries old traditions and perhaps some whom participate in debauchery as there are in all walks of life.St Ambrose is quoted as saying "ubi Petrus, ibi Ecclesiam" where there is Peter there is the Church. My heart is broken by much that I see in the modern church but I will be loyal to the papacy til I draw my dying breath. This distinguishes me as Roman Catholic. Like those who signed the letter of filial correction it remains my duty to resist and call out those who would potentially do harm to my beloved church even should it be the encumbent Christs Vicar on Earth but I will always love the symbol which he represents

    Of course you're right.

But on the other hand nothing I have written contradicts what you have.

Never confuse being obedient with being open to the truth. Jesus knew who the Religious leaders were in His day and what they were. Which is why Jesus said,

    Matthew 23:2

    Woes to Scribes and Pharisees
1Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples: 2 “The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.…

The Scribes and Pharisees haven't gone away you know. They just have Vatican City Passports. This includes their Chief Priest.

You've totally, totally lost me. I am not quite sure at what precise point you lost me, but I have become totally adrift from the meaning, logic and direction of your posts.

I am floundering. But that's alright leave me to flounder. I am away to Mass and Holy Hour. :):)

O Padraig there's been a huge breakdown in communication such is the problem with texting. I intend no criticism and hold you in the highest esteem , father of the forum. My comment about the truth setting us free was intended as a compliment to you because your search for truth keeps you free from the darkness promulgated my some church leaders. Please pray for me during your devotions, God knows how much I need it

    Hi Advocata Nostra,
I know my post looks out of place, but I feel the above prayers are very apt with the current discussion on Our Lady's role as Co-redemptrix.

St John Paul II declared St Maximilian Kolbe to be “the Apostle of a New Marian Era”. Maximilian was a groundbreaking theologian. His insights into the Immaculate Conception anticipated the Marian theology of the Second Vatican Council and further developed the Church’s understanding of Mary as 'Mediatrix of all graces', and as 'Advocate' for God’s people.

St Maximilian Kolbe stressed the importance and the unity between the Immaculate Mary and the Holy Spirit.

Kolbe described Mary as the ‘Created Immaculate Conception’ and the Holy Spirit as the ‘Uncreated Immaculate Conception’.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe also wrote the following on Our Lady's role as Co-redemptrix.....

"Just as Jesus became the God-Man in order to reveal His immense love for us, so also the Third Divine Person, The Holy Spirit, willed to show His mediation with the Father and the Son in some external image. That this image is the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin is clear, as Mary is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Whence Blessed (now saint) Louis Grignion de Montfort draws the conclusion according to the mind of the Fathers:

The Holy Spirit becomes fruitful through Mary whom He has taken to Himself as Spouse. With her and in her and through her He produces His most illustrious work, the Incarnation of the Word…

The Holy Spirit accomplishes everything in us through Mary. For the words of the Creator pronounced to the serpent concerning the Immaculata “She shall crush your head” (Gn 3:15) are, according to the teaching of the theologians, to be understood without limitation in regard to time.

The title of Co-redemptrix applied to Mary, denotes Mary’s regular and unique sharing with her Son in the saving work of redemption for the human family.

The Mother of Jesus participates in the redemptive work of her Son, who alone could reconcile humanity with the Father in His glorious Divinity and Humanity. Because of her intimate and unparalleled sharing in the mysterious work with the divine Redeemer, both at the Incarnation (cf Lk 1:28) and at the work of redemption at Calvary (cf Jn19:26), Mary has merited the Church title, "Co-redemptrix" which literally means, "with the Redeemer."
    by Saint Maximilian Kolbe

    To answer your question
The Legion of Mary is a lay apostolic association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of All Graces, serve the Church and their neighbour on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. The first meeting of the Legion of Mary took place in Myra House, Francis Street, Dublin, Ireland, on 7 September, 1921. This meeting was to have very beneficial consequences for the mission of the Catholic Church and, in a special way, for millions of members of Christ’s lay faithful who would serve in the Legion and for those who would be served by the legionary apostolate. Many persons outside the Catholic Church would also benefit from that apostolate. With the approval and support of the Popes and a great many Bishops, Priests and Religious, as well as the prayers and efforts of legionaries, the Legion, by the grace of God, has grown into a worldwide organisation with several million members.

  15. That’s quite an answer! Thanks, Josephite! I am familiar with the Legion of Mary and know/knew members in our area. Also, I made St. Maximilian Kolbe’s Consecration to Our Lady some time ago and had become a member of the MI with the Rosary, etc., in my home each week. I carry blessed Miraculous Medals to give away. I was only ever turned away once because the woman at the Motor Vehicles Commission said she could not accept items from anyone at her job. Those things are Holy bullets! I NEVER go out without wearing mine on my neck. Ave Maria!

If you carry Miraculous Medals to give away, then you are a Promoter.
    Look into it.

  17. Yes, I’ve been there on a few occasions. It’s not too far from the Traditional Carmelite Monastery. I guess I’m an “unofficial promoter”of Our Lady. I never, EVER thought I could give people medals (never wanted to be like that, you know—not my style), but She knew I’d do it if they asked about mine or started telling me about the suffering in their lives. And do that’s what I do when these sorts of things happen. But, just for the record, I’m not a leader of any group(s) that do such. Don’t much have that need to lead. :)
