maybe the medal wont physically come back to you but the grace that you gave your brother "For it is in giving that we receive."

Hey Carmel333. Since you are in Wisconsin, I wondered if you thought about any refuges here? I stumbled across a Catholic site where three obvious refuge sites in this state were proposed/stated:
    • Shrine of Our Lady Of Guadalupe, LaCrosse, WI
    • Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Green Bay, WI (apparently the ONLY approved Marian apparition site in the U.S.)
    • Holy Hill, Hubertus, WI (Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, at Holy Hill) near Milwaukee
What have you heard or seen about these, or other less obvious places?

Holy Hill is my Provicial's address, and LOVE LOVE LOVE the place! Wish I could go there more often. I have not yet been to the other two, and want to get to La Crosse this summer to see it as it is fairly new. I do not know if these are refuges, but certainly would not be surprised if they were. I was only told to stay in my own house, and I feel really protected there. I do ask about this stuff in prayer, but no answer so far. I have a good relationship with my Angel to, and am confident he would show me where I needed to go. I think all of us who love God will be shown when the time comes if and where we need to go. But yes, HOly Hill has an amazing spiritual feeling there, and on top of being beautiful, there was an apparition of Mary there in the 1800s. First they erected a cross on the hill to honor Mary, and later built the Basillica which for many decades has been cared for by 13 Carmelite Monks.

I thought that there was a community built in FL several years ago called Ave Maria or something. I think that they claimed this was a refuge, but don't remember where it was located.
    found it....

I think Ave Maria is a fairly new university near Naples, FL. (Possibly established by the founder of Domino's Pizza)

Carmel333 post #83 regarding Holy Hill...That shrine is so beautiful. We lived in Hartland for a year and our second son was born in Oconomowoc. We loved going to Holy Hill (under the patronage of Mary, Help of Christians). I still picture the beautiful stations of the cross in that nice wooded area. We climbed the steps in the spire to where the church bells are and the view was awesome. You can see that church for miles and it is a real treasure. We haven't found anything like that beautiful church since.

Maybe that's why so many Polish people settled in Wisconsin, especially Milwaukee, I think. ;) I remember the first girl I ever had a crush on in 5th grade in a small town a little west of this area. After my family moved 75 miles to the east to a city along lake michigan, I had a hard time remembering how to spell her last name. I figured it out like 20 years later: Jazdzewski...

It was hard to remember that spelling, because I only knew phoenetically what it sounded like (yaz-jes-kee)...o_O

I have been to the apparition site of, Our Lady of Good Help, in Champion, Wisconsin (near Green Bay) twice and at the Beautiful shrine, Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Lacrosse, Wisconsin last year. Both holy places of our Lady. Plan on going back again this summer.

interesting if all these places will actually be places of refuge. I'd always envision them to be a place of hiding with special protection for being found. they would therefore be in the woods, or someplace like that. but who knows the plans of God for the coming times? either way, I probably won't get attached to the idea of places of refuge just in case its not in the cards...but I will be very excited if I am instructed to go to one!!

I just read through this thread and I realise padraig has posted about my home which he identified some years ago as a refuge. We moved to this old farm some 17 years ago. It was a very derelict property and we had no money to spare. For some years previously I had unknown to my husband travelled on this remote road to visit a relative. Every time I passed this property I stopped my car and wondered who was living there. I felt drawn to the place. We were living with our young family in a very nice modern house close to my family. My husband came home one day and asked me to go with him to look at a farm he was interested in buying. I could not believe it when we arrived at the run down place I had been stopping outside. I said go ahead buy it, there is something in this. To make a long story short we bought the property for the exact price we sold our house for. I always felt there was something special about this place. When Padraig came to visit he identified it as a refuge. I had been nagging my husband because he kept renovating different buildings on the property and he had knocked an entrance into a long narrow house and was in the process of renovating it when Padraig came. He converted it into a bar but I know it is a prayer room really. A prayer room masquerading as a bar!
