Let me recommend a book for anyone interested in Freemasonry, 'Darkness Visible' by Walton Hannah. The book is an appraisal of the 'craft' from a Christian perspective and written by someone who was a Church of England clergyman when he wrote it (but later a Catholic priest). Masonry is widely practiced among Anglicans and their clergy (my own Church of England secondary school had its own lodge for masters and former pupils!) and so it was for the writer an important matter to establish. Anyway, it gives details of their ceremonies and degrees and comes down conclusively against the 'craft' as being compatible with Christianity. The Church's prohibition was softened (as I recall) only for the Scottish rite (i.e. the English/Scottish/Irish/US/Canada version) because it is not openly anti-Catholic. However the European version is openly and violently hostile to the Church and was from its inception (although they have recently said nice things about Pope Francis!).
I wanted to let everyone know my husband is hospital.thank you all for all the prayers. He surely needed them.
