The good priest is being charitable when answering Michael Voris's questions about what was told him. He seems tired and sad beyond belief. So does Michael Voris. Prophecy being fulfilled in real time.
I think Padraig is right it would have been wise to say nothing and just burn the evil thing. How is it that we have come to this in Christs Church, demonic symbols hanging above the Blessed Sacrament! Unbelievable. Anyway I have signed.
Yes Momma Mary and Jesus are opening the gates. The evil plan has been around a long time but they forget about the power of God!!!
There is a scene in Windswept House where Fr Aldo—a very Holy Vatican priest—urges Fr Damian Slattery to be very careful with the Cardinal of Chicago—to not lose his temper or be disobedient . I think a quiet disposal of the evil thing would have been good but then I didn’t go through what Fr Kalchik went through as an abuse victim. It’s up to God to sort it out but one thinks of the persecution Padre Pio endured at Hands of bishops and even JihnXXIII and never said a word. Sigh.
The problem with him dumping the flag in the trash can would mean just another thing being hidden. It seems to me the things that have been hidden are now being exposed for all to see. Yes obedience is always prudent to lawful authority, but if that authority is an affront to Gods laws then maybe the wise thing to do is disobey an unjust request. If a father tells his son to kill someone the father doesn't like, should that son obey his father?
Not only did he seem tired and sad but also dazed. Michael Voris had to prompt him a little to speak sometimes.
No, if I went through what Fr Kalchik went through I would probably burn down the Cardiaanl's Palace with the Cardinal in it. He has my fullest sympathy. He was treated very brutally.
Well Jesus said that thos ein charge sit in the Chair of Moses and that we should do as they say but not as they do. I don't think there is an out from that. But like I say he was treated very, very badly indeed , I certianly don't judge him. There is a Legend from Dachau Concentration Camp that the Jews there held a Trial of God and found Him guilty for not preventing the Holocaust. One Rabbi on commenting on this said, 'Some people went to the Death Chambers praising God, some went to the Death Chambers cursing Him. But let no one judge them, whether they curse or praise unless they have walked in those shoes'. I haven't walked in poor Fr Kalchik's shoes, I can't judge him. I guess he was at the end of his tether.
The comment was in the context of your superiors sending you for 'psychological' evaluation to some clinic because you happen to believe what the Church teaches. I personally believe there are limits to obedience in this context where one might be 'framed' and locked up, imprisoned/sectioned under mental health or 're-educated'. http://wdtprs.com/blog/2018/09/read...sych-tactics-used-against-priests-by-bishops/ But I may be in a minority on this.
There was an even stronger Moral Dilemma on something like this with Archbishop Vegano. He took a very Solemn Oath not to break Diplomatic secrets. Secrets which he did break. I don't know the Cnaonical sanctions for this but I would guess it involved Automatic Excommunication which only a Pontiff could lift. If you were waiting for Pope Francis to lift this sanction you would have a very, very long wait indeed, I suspect. Which means the poor man cannot say mass or receive the Sacraments. Maybe until he dies. The reason why secrecy is so important in a Diplomatic Service is that if secrets are revealed it is a bit like playing poker where everyone else can see your hand. Secrecy is the lifeblood of Diplomacy. Again I am not judging Archbishop Vigano. God knows these are terrible times. But breaking a very Solemn Oath and incurring excommunication are not things to be taken lightly.
Fr Gruner the Fatima priest had to fight against framing and manipulating and outright lies in his zeal to keep the Fatima message out front. He made an impassioned argument against obedience in such circumstances as I recall. I think it was in the Fatima Crusader.
Yes but it also bears considering a basic tenet of Moral Teaching, that you are never justified in trying to achieve a good aim through an evil act and Breaking a Solemn Oath to the Church is , objectively , a very evil act indeed. “The reason why a good intention is not itself sufficient, but a correct choice of actions is also needed, is that the human act depends on its object, whether that object is capable or not of being ordered to God, to the One who ‘alone is good,’ and thus brings about the perfection of the person.” John Paul II, Enc. Veritatis splendor, 78. Again, I am not judging the man because I do not know all the circumstances involved in this. http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/c...n_cfaith_doc_19880701_professio-fidei_en.html OATH OF FIDELITY ON ASSUMING AN OFFICE TO BE EXERCISED IN THE NAME OF THE CHURCH (Formula to be used by members of the Christian faithful mentioned in canon 833, nn. 5-8) I, N., in assuming the office of ………, promise that in my words and in my actions I shall always preserve communion with the Catholic Church. With great care and fidelity I shall carry out the duties incumbent on me toward the Church, both universal and particular, in which, according to the provisions of the law, I have been called to exercise my service. In fulfilling the charge entrusted to me in the name of the Church, I shall hold fast to the deposit of faith in its entirety; I shall faithfully hand it on and explain it, and I shall avoid any teachings contrary to it. I shall follow and foster the common discipline of the entire Church and I shall maintain the observance of all ecclesiastical laws, especially those contained in the Code of Canon Law. With Christian obedience I shall follow what the Bishops, as authentic doctors and teachers of the faith, declare, or what they, as those who govern the Church, establish. I shall also faithfully assist the diocesan Bishops, so that the apostolic activity, exercised in the name and by mandate of the Church, may be carried out in communion with the Church. So help me God, and God’s Holy Gospels on which I place my hand. (Variations in the fourth and fifth paragraphs of the formulary, for use by those members of the Christian faithful indicated in can. 833, n. 8) I shall foster the common discipline of the entire Church and I shall insist on the observance of all ecclesiastical laws, especially those contained in the Code of Canon Law. With Christian obedience I shall follow what the Bishops, as authentic doctors and teachers of the faith, declare, or what they, as those who govern the Church, establish. I shall also — with due regard for the character and purpose of my institute — faithfully assist the diocesan Bishops, so that the apostolic activity, exercised in the name and by mandate of the Church, may be carried out in communion with the Church.
You are not a minority IMO. There certainly are situations where disobedience to men is warranted, and thinking that a Bishop is beyond any reproach or the Pope himself is what got us into this mess to begin with. People who should have spoken out didn't because they were afraid to make waves or suffer the consequences for speaking the truth because their personal interests were at stake. They should have feared God instead. We all should. We have to trust Him to see us through these times. Cardinals such as Cupich are suspect by their own actions and the very words they speak. These corrupt men rely on obedience to man instead of God to see their plans through. Imagine if Jesus would have simply stayed home and prayed for the Pharisee and Sadducee because he was scared of them and what they would do to him and his Mother. This has been the problem all along, from the very beginning when mankind gathered together and built the tower of Babel and placed its trust in man instead of God. May God grant us all the Grace and fortitude to see through such trials should they befall us.
We were always taught to burn blessed objects or bury them as a proper way of disposal. I remember going outside with a friend to help her bury an old statue back in the day.
This is why I admire him. He fears God more than man, more than the Pope. He knows God knows his heart and rather than risk God's wrath he is carrying this cross. I can not imagine what he is going through. If the oath he took was wound like a serpent to his condemnation for speaking the Truth then what kind of oath is this and what is it serving.
I'm not so sure of your minority status. Psychiatry and psychology are to a great degree, though not universally, godless philosophies. We all know the efficacy of those 'experts' who 'treated' the abusers over the years. I think it very debatable whether one is compelled to obey orders and actions impelling one to submit to a form of torture that aims to chemically suppress one's personality and ones' capacity to judge right from wrong and has the effect of rendering one vulnerable to the powers of suggestion. It is an assault on God-given free will.
