This is from this article which Brian posted: "And I asked about the controversy raised its observations in the special synod on the family in 2014-in which he commented on the folly of underestimating the relationships of same sex who have remained faithful to one Marx others again reaffirm the same feelings. "We have to respect the decisions of people We also have to respect, as I said in the first synod , some were dismayed but I think it's normally can not say that a relationship between two men, if they are faithful , this is nothing, it has no value. ""
I think that Cardinal Marx needs to go, not a worthy advisor to the pope. He is possibly the center of the problem.

    CARDINAL OPPOSING CARDINAL.

I believe in separation of church and state, that doesn't mean that I support some of the decisions of my state but I don't need my church to adopt my state's ideas.

Not an appropriate statement for a cardinal, and not not appropriate for a bishop's synod or at the very least not appropriate to be discussing it with the news...as in this was discussed at the synod, etc. I just don't see the point, is he trying to win some points with the homosexual community or trying to institute changes, which obviously did not happen.

"For divine obedience never prevents us from obedience to the Holy Father: nay, the more perfect the one, the more perfect is the other. And we ought always to be subject to his commands and obedient unto death. However indiscreet obedience to him might seem, and however it should deprive us of mental peace and consolation, we ought to obey; and I consider that to do the opposite is a great imperfection, and deceit of the devil."

Yes, we must be obedient to proper authority in matters of Faith and Morals, except when obedience would violate a properly formed conscience.

Obedience does not prevent one from combating error and defending the Faith; the two are NOT mutually exclusive.

If someone hides behind "obedience" to avoid their duty to correct error, especially error that could lead souls into serious error, they are guilty of serious sin.

  5. Apologies if this has already been covered but I'm stuck for time...
I often wonder about the "reporters" who accompany Pope Francis on his trips. Who chooses them? Is there no Catholic among them who would corner PF for a clearer explanation when he makes confusing remarks?

They are assigned by their respective news agencies and most likely have press accreditation and security clearance. They decide among themselves on a short list of questions which are submitted to the Pope's staff (Fr. Lombardi?) and the Pope gives his answers. The questions are submitted in advance, although the Pope gets very short notice of them.

I didn't realize that Pope Francis jokingly referred to Cardinal Marx as that Marxist Cardinal (until I just read it on Jimmy Akin's website), hmmmmmm, enough said.

Thank you, Brian, for not only understanding our faith but for willingly explaining it to those who may not. You are a light in the darkness, truly.

Thanks little me. Fortunately we have great saints interceding for us and showing us the way.

(All my kids have had a hug and a kiss from Mother Angelica. She was a great bullheaded saint, a good example for our times. I believe she is interceding for Raymond Arroyo now, who has been admirable and courageous in his remarks about the Synod and recent "off the cuff" comments.)
