I think world opinion against him was so huge--toronto sun and other mainstream papers and other prominent Canadians called him out. He is trying to save face but he exposed himself.
I heard someone connected with the US Convoy say today they were going nowhere near DC. Around it I guess.
Not only was he becoming a global laughing stock the Canadian Senate had to approve it continuing, in fact it should have never started without the house of commons and senate approval first. The senate was going to stop it and that would have triggered non-confidence and another election. Good thing Trudeau folded, only because no one is ready for another election and conservatives don't have all their ducks in a row yet. Worth the 16 min if you want to hear some real common sense.....
And I'm so relieved. This situation was starting to affect me physically. Especially for the sake of a friend, Cindy, who resides in Canada since 2009 with her Canadian-born husband. She's had an unhappy life overall, but was happy in Canada until JT became PM. I remember Cindy, on JT's election, calling him "an idiot, sitting up there in Montreal (?) in all his idiot glory!" Now I wasn't politically astute then and Cindy is frequently given to political complaints, so I was like Oh, here we go again But YES. She was right! And I wonder if even this recent has astonished her.
They said they would circle DC on the Beltway, which is a circular road going completely around DC. It’s an important commuter artery. I heard this but have no real confirmation of it. Also, it’s in the planning stage, but it’s possible that fencing will be put up around the US Capitol again,
Trudeau seems an idiot, but he's somebody's useful idiot. He did manage to get to become the outwardly-seeming most powerful man in Canada.
In the past two days I'm repeatedly encountering CANADA as a source for Marian devotional materials (online), or books pertaining to the Immaculate Heart in CANADA.
Trudeau reversed his policy because there was a run on the banks in Canada, making the economy crash.
And a lawsuit apparently. I saw this video posted, but have not watched it yet so here is the link for anyone interested. A group took legal action and filed a notice of application against him and they claim he withdrew the policy within hours of this.
It's probably a combination of things. The threatened bank collapse, the legalities and the tide in public opinion turning against him. So many things started to go wrong for him that it emphasises the imprudence of the action. The reversal of the Emergency Powers may not be enough to prevent a reversal in the future electoral prospects of his party. It could easily end up being a nasty self-inflicted wound for him.
