Watch out for a change to catechism 2357 in the same way they changed it on capital punishment. The latter was a dry run for the former.

But "same sex attracted" can also refer to those who suffer this condition but don't act on it. I think we need a term to differenciate those individuals, who often practice heroic virtue, from those who embrace same sex attraction as a lifestyle. I'm not opposed to the term "sodomite", however un-PC it may be.

    Good point.

    CCC 2359 provides the solution
Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

It is very difficult. On the one hand we want to be as charitable and give as much leeway as we can to out priests and Bishops whom we naturally love a Spiritual Fathers.

But on the other hand reality is reality an we cannot hide from the truth. Happily their is no word about any changes in my own Parish..as yet. But if they do Deconsecrate out Church by committing the abomination and blasphemy of blessing a Sodomite couple I will leave and go up the road to the Traditional Church.

But I will be so sad to do so. I have been a member of my Parish 63 years now.

But needs must. Unlike Lot's wife I will not be looking back over my shoulder.

The thing too is I do really believe we have an immortal soul, I do really believe that there will be a Last Judgement and that there really is Hell.

That being so why would I risk being sent to hell for associating with this awful demonic stuff when my conscience cries out to me to have nothing to do with such wickedness?

Why would I take the chance of being dragged into the Eternal Flames? So, no, when the Sodomite couples comes in for a blessing through one door I'll be going out the other.

And a Heaven! This is the key. Once one totally is able to wrap ones head around this straight forward truth, that Hell in fact exists and one could go there, things suddenly become very very clear...

Yes but very, very sadly I suspect many of our poor priests no believe this, for if they did they would most certainly preach about it and they never do. I suspect the very first step to winding up in hell is not believing it exists.

Imagine the total horror of waking up in a hell you never thought was there. I do fear hell. I most certainly do. St Paul was right when he talked about working out our salvation in fear and trembling.

Mercy, yes certainly. But Justice also.

My absolute greatest fear is...standing before our Lord and hearing the words, "depart from me, I never knew you." Is there anything imaginable more terrifying than that?

Your attitude is the way Christ would have us be. I am close to a Catholic man who practices purity though he carries the Cross of same-sex attraction. I believe I have mentioned once before that this gentleman witnessed to a group of gays at a party. Believe it not, he said they were shocked at his convictions and didn't seem to know how to respond: one of their own urging self-control!

He witnessed to our Gospel of truth and purity. Don't get discouraged Andy, hold your ground and continue to pray for your priest. May his caving-in to the culture prove to be temporary. Holiness and self-denial go hand-in-hand!

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for this priest-son of yours that he may yet uphold God's standard of sexual purity.

Be shrewd as a serpent, yet innocent as a dove.
    Matthew 10:16.
“act intelligently and wisely in the decisions that we make, always conversing with our Guide, the Holy Spirit. It requires us to be prudent in all that we do, being mindful of each other and how we are to affect each other in the physical as well as the spiritual.”

This man spoke the truth, but even more importantly he actually believed what he said to them; the people picked up on that very fact - he truly believed himself what he was saying was the truth.
That's where the rubber meets the road. That's where hearts and minds start to think maybe there is something to this "religious stuff" after all.......God love him ~

Well, he thinks that Francis isn't valid so he also thinks that Francis has no authority to excommunicate him.

Agree that he nor anyone should take this flippantly. At same time, its a huge disappointment that his bishop who is supposed to be his spiritual father would take such an action in what appears to be flippant and almost reactive way. Now, who knows if there are other aspects in this priest past behavior that resulted in warnings to him, but if not, then this action seems so sudden and over reactive. I mean when my children did something I did not like or more importantly thought was harmful to them, my first course of action was not to throw them out of the house! Rather, it was to talk to them, to explain and reason with them. And even when they continued acting in a way that I did not like, I was patient. As their father I loved them above all and like I said my initial response was to reason. This response seems so punitive that it just makes wonder if it was not the first incident. Prayers

"According to a local paper in Livorno, the bishop met with Guidetti before Christmas to discuss his dissent and proceeded with the official excommunication decree after the priest’s public act of schism on Dec. 31."

Our parish priests said virtually the same thing. I felt sick inside but in a way I knew it was coming. Something just didn't sit right with him.
I ended up talking to a trusted priest and friend and was informed that our priest will soon be retiring. It can't come soon enough.

Well that is the highest stake gamble anyone could engage in...

If he is wrong, and he is just a really bad Pope...he would still hold the keys.

That's why I think it is totally irresponsible for anyone who is not at least a Bishop to tell others he is not a real Pope...If such a person is wrong (and doubtful anyone save for the Bishops as a group are qualified to make such a determination) then he would be leading others to separate themselves from the chair of Peter.

I guess he thinks himself more qualified than Bishop Athanasius Schneider, Cardinal Burke, Cardinal Sarah, Bishop Strickland and all the other current Bushops in the world.

I'm holding my breath to see what develops in my parish.
I'm praying for a miracle. It will certainly be interesting to see how many parishioners are left standing if the pastor is on board with blessing gay couples.
