I always avoid dogmatic statements - after all what do I know - but I’m going to go out on a limb here and categorically state that this statement made in this sermon is completely, absolutely 100 per cent NOT true!

Of 33,000 dead only 5 were saved!? Really?

Except maybe in the Vatican today these figures simply are absurd.

And even there I’m sure there are good Swiss guards, cleaning ladies, cooks etc. who are saved.

This may lead to despair discouragement fear. But above all it contradicts common sense, NDEs and other credible revelations.

At medjugorje Our Lady stated that of the people who die today the majority go to purgatory, a few go to heaven and many go to hell. I’m paraphrasing, I don’t remember the exact quote but it was something to that effect.

In my view this makes perfect sense.

Look around you. The world is in bad shape but we’re not surrounded by demons (again, if you don’t live in the Vatican). Look at your family, your neighbors, the waiters in your restaurant, in the hardware store, in your supermarket.

    Are they all damned?

So the defence is that he has matured since he wrote the book, he wouldn’t write it now in case it was misunderstood.

If he was in his mid to late 30s then he was mature enough to understand what he was doing. I don’t think any of us have misunderstood or misinterpreted it in any way.

He wouldn’t write it now because he is a cardinal and head of the DDF. Had he known he would be that famous and powerful he would never have written anything that would so badly compromise him.

Many of us have done unwise things we would rather the world didn’t know. How about saying: I am no longer the person who wrote that. I distance myself completely from almost all of it and apologise for any offence caused.

I would accept that more readily.

A Chaplet of reparation begging God to confound and destroy communism/marxism/extremism/masons. Remember hate the sin, not the sinner.

Eternal Father, I offer You the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and all the other instruments of His Holy Passion.
    That You may put division in the camp of Your enemies. For as Your beloved Son has said;
"A kingdom divided against itself shall fall."

May God arise and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee before His face.
May the thrice Holy Name of God overthrow all their plans.
May the Holy name of the Living God split them up by disagreement.
May the terrible Name of the God of eternity stamp out all their Godlessness.

Lord, I do not desire the death of the sinner, but that he be converted and live.
Father forgive them, they know not what they do.

I agree. I made a decision not to listen to or read that sermon whenever it surfaces.

This book was not secret, it was not one of those author's editions with a very limited number of printings that never made it onto the commercial circuits. This book was barely known to the public, but it is a commercial edition with all standardized information, published in Mexico by a publisher that has hundreds of other titles on the market. I'm sure there must still be several copies spread across Mexico and even in other places.

It is normal for the past of public figures to always be searched. I'm sure there will be other things that are easier to delete, but a published book is practically impossible.

Sigh. :( Eat with sinners Father Mark, but for heaven's sake please do not bless sin. Blessing a gay couple in private is still sinful. If you need to hide in the shadows to perform a blessing, it is not from God.

    Excellent point.

There is no darkness, and there is no shadow of death, where they may be hid who work iniquity.

Whoever blasphemes the name of Our Lord is the first to be in schism with the truth and the 2000-year-old Apostolic Church.

The bride of Christ has entered into her passion. The Judas' are coming out of the darkness. We can't be like Peter and leave the Holy Church. We must persevere like John and the Holy women, like our Blessed Mother and weep at the foot of the Cross. We are weeping, lamenting, crying out for justice. Three days Jesus was in the tomb, our three days are coming . I'm not sure what the crucifixion of the Holy Church will be, but Jesus will get us through this. Ask our mother to place us under her mantle and she will. The light is coming ...soon.

    Well, maybe 99.99% NOT true.:);)

Blizzard, I listen to this homily about once a year to remind myself to avoid complacency and not treat my small sins lightly. One should not treat any offense against the Sacred Heart so. I gave the personal example of giving in by choosing to eat the meat sandwich on a Friday. Trust me, I am against paranoia and fear-mongering. My goal is to bring joy to my Savior's heart. I want to strive to live out of love for Him.

I must admit when I was young, visiting preachers were often heavy-handed. Now days it tends to be the opposite end of the spectrum. It is this I want to avoid, especially when preaching on passages such as Matthew 7:

13 Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Or again, there is the wisdom of :

1Peter4:18 And “If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where will the impious and sinner appear?”

The Holy Spirit gifts us with both: the fruit of joy and the Gift of the Fear of the Lord.

I find St Alphonsus Ligouri's remarks (he is a Doctor of the Church and our greatest Moral Theologian) that we reach a point with sin were there is an end of forgiveness. We're God, so to speak, reaches the e
    nd of His
tether and calls us on it They are very sobering.

We should not assume we can spit in the Face of God endlessly without being called on it.

That is the sin of Presumtion

Grace is free, but it isn'tcheap.

Reading through this thread it seems that many think the worst thing we can do is condemn Cardinal Fernandez for publically publishing BLASPHEMOUS, PERVERTED books as a PRIEST.

What I've read on this thread is the following. We should blame those who bring his books to light. We should not judge him because he wrote them a long time ago so we should assume that a publicly perverted, blaspheming priest changes even though there's nothing to indicate a change, even though the person in question recently published a controversial document (FS) regarding gay couple blessings. We should not judge him because we are sinners too and we should just keep our brains and mouths shut and pray for our own salvation.

The bottom line is Fernandez AS A PRIEST CHOSE ( he absolutely willed) to PUBLICLY publish BLASPHEMOUS, PERVERTED, SATANIC books. There is NO WAY this guy should hold the 2nd highest office in the Church. PERIOD.

I believe God gave us hearts, souls, and brains to use properly especially when faced with difficult disgusting circumstances .

Scrolling through the comments on both Fr. Mark's videos it is very clear that this priest is loved. It is because he is loved, and considered our spiritual father that his flock is warning him. We cannot judge or condemn, but we are obliged to pray and defend the Truth. Fr. Mark is correct, schism would be a great and terrible trial for the Church, but clergy who are willing to make compromises to avoid schism also place the Church in grave spiritual danger. Lord have mercy on our poor priests, they will experience the worst of this persecution. I am beginning to clearly understand the impact that diabolical disorientation will have in these sad times. It is frightening. :(

Gee whiz all the loud complaints about Luisa Picarretta, Fr Michel Rodrigue, Fr Gobbi, and now with this horrid priest Fernandez, and his friend Bergoglio, some here want to ignore it all. What you can bash some who may be innocent, but not those who are evil? Seriously, some here have totally lost all credibility in my humble opinion.
