    Padraig,

Plain and simple, I am not a fan of Alex Jones. He is way to brash imho and I only learned about him on MOG in the past two years since I have been a member.

You are correct he and his staff are not very knowledgeable about the Church, I prefer to listen to Robert Royal or Edward Pentin and others whose main concern is for the Church not as some sensational story.

With that said, I totally agree with Brian and I think it is good to look at these things so that we can prepare ourselves for the "battle" that lies ahead. If we know the "bullets and arrows" that are being "shot" at us (the Church) we will be much better prepared.

I just watched the video that member Garabandal posted on "The Vatican Has Fallen" thread from RTE, same thing with that video, it is from the secular news and their arguments are quite ridiculous but it is best that we listen to them so we are "battle ready". This is going to get ugly and those in the "fight" need all our support.

I wonder if we should write a message on every check we put in the collection basket, maybe that would get their attention. Maybe we could write, "Catholic Church: Where are you heading?” which is the theme of the conference.

I understand perfectly Carol. Any remarks here were aimed at Alex Jones rather than any kind of personal rebuke.

  3. Perhaps the advice to the apostles/disciples to leave while dusting off the sandals, after revealing the truth given to them, can be delayed if there is more concern about response or getting desired results....which in these times esp. seems to have the effect of even more violence against the innocent without defense. And no matter the various groups set up to respond for such various public assaults against them they are now used to justify more attacks. There is a season for everything in God's Wisdom. Peter took the sword (and seemingly for a very good reason) and God healed the truly brutal one while ordering the opposite for His own. It's just that time is getting short and more reactionary responses can in fact offer Satan what he wants....more spirit of chaos. Currently we see such created and intentional events taking place at the border of Israel and our own.....that go beyond reason and truth. Thus a strong national response is forced. Interesting too these particular targets: "little" satan and "big" satan....forever linked as THE Judeo Christian strongholds. I think that it's within a current private revelation's messages that our Lady shows her disappointment in how quickly our personal peace can be taken as she witnesses our quick personal reactions to offenses. For what it's worth.

Earth to Angels this is profound. And wise. I think your diagnosis is spot on. Consecration to the Immaculate Heart is a matter of survival! And the Rosar is the weapon. "Blessed be the Lord my Rock Who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle..." I was praying this psalm this morning and suddenly thought "battle beads!!" He has trained our hands for war and our fingers for battle. Rosaries!! More Rosaries! Our Lady of Guadalupe Our Lady of Victories pray for us!!!

Unfortunately with this current pope, a lot of this is understandable. Some of it is typical antiCatholic BS, but a lot of it, unfortunately, is just based on the words and actions of this pope.

Much of it is confirmation bias. Many of these people believed for centuries that the Catholic Church is 'the whore of Babylon'. Now, because there is some corruption being revealed in the Church, they assume their prejudices are being confirmed.

Yes DeGaulle. Sadly this is true. They have no understanding of the institutional church (human) as separate from the Mystical a Body Of Christ. They lump it all together. But in all the finger pointing no Protestant ever cites what a truly horrible human being Luther was. Or Henry VIII. I could go on but won't.
The tragedy for me personally is the children and husband who left the Church in the wake of the priest scandals. This will only calcify their resistance. I am putting all of this into the Blessed Mother's hands. this current oncoming horror requires a whole new shot of grace. I am trusting Our Lord to provide it.
In 2013 a woman I know at a retreat--a woman with a real charism for speaking a word of knowledge related to us with a shaking voice and a tremble in her whole body that she had been in adoration right before the retreat and the church grew extremely cold and she heard the Blessed Mother tell her that a cold wind was about to blow through the Church and that if we did not consecrate ourselves daily to her Immaculate Heart and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus we wouldn't survive it. There was more but I can't remember it but it was sobering and scary. PF had just been made Pope.

Carol, I know maybe you meant this tongue in cheek, but this would be an excellent thing that the laity could do worldwide to bring to the attention of the bishops that we are concerned. Kind of a "soft" way of resisting. It would make a great campaign people could participate in. Imagine if all of the blogs started promoting this. Write "answer the dubia" or some such on the bottom of millions of checks week after week. That would get the attention of the bishops.

    Praetorian, No, I was/am serious.
Originally, I included writing on "bills" but that is illegal so I corrected my post accordingly.
Maybe those who don't use checks can drop a short note each week or attach a stick-it note to their cash.
I think we should give it a chance, it could prove to be effective especially if we keep it up and the story gets out. Yes, "answer the dubia" is good also.

Too right. It's baffling, to put it politely. The clear outcome has been to cause confusion and scandal and heartbreak really. You'd have to be exceptionally thick or knowingly devious to keep speaking to Scalfari like this. This is the head of an organisation that has 1.8 billion people looking to him for leadership. Inexcusable.

However, even worse, in my view is Catholics who now are constantly telling everyone via twitter etc that the Pope has denied the existence of hell.
    a/ He says he hasn't.
b/He doesn't have the authority to deny what Jesus and the Magisterium have taught for 2000 yrs
c/This is Easter Week 1. Instead of living the joy of The Resurrection, many people are focusing on something the Pope didn't say. Own goal. One up to Satan.

I think Jesus made it very clear that only Almighty God can do that, Brian. This is where Catholics cause themselves unnecessary grief. This is above my pay grade and yours. I am so glad I do not have to judge this Pope. My job (and yours) is to discern truth. And, thankfully, we have the best advocate in the Holy Spirit, to guide us with that one: Hell is real. Let's stop wasting time judging Pope Francis and work on our own salvation.

    With regard to a & c.

The Pope has clarified nothing. He hasn't reacted to Scalfari's article at all - not one word!

He could very easily sort this confusion out. But chooses not too.

And it is disingenuous of you to blame Catholics when it is the world's media (who are not Catholic) who have reported on Scalfari's interview!

    Bella, we can judge actions
Traffic cops judge actions, the courts judge actions, our supervisors judge actions, teachers judge actions
    We have to do that

Yes, but the judgements about Pope Francis are not judging his actions, are they ? They are judging whether he is a heretic, a sinner, a true pope, an anti-pope,the anti-christ even...

Obviously we make everyday judgements concerning our lives. I made it clear that this is not the "judging" I am referring to,but the judging that Jesus warned us against.

Bella, you are right that we should not judge the Pope's (or anyone's) interior motivations, for that is known only to God. We are however permitted by the Church to judge outward actions and make determinations accordingly. In a situation like this we actually very much need to understand what is going on to the best of our ability as our very salvation depends on what is happening in the Church.

I would agree with you though that it is probably best not to get too "stuck" on all of this. Something that I am guilty of doing. In the end we really have no control and we should work on our personal relationship with God. Sometimes we need to take a step back and take a deep breath. I am trying to do that as a lot of this is stealing my peace and getting me wound up in knots at times.

I think the saying "Let go and let God." may have a lot of truth today. As important as it is to see what is going on and to let others know, we should not become too all consumed by it.

No, it's not disingenuous of me at all. It is my Catholic family whom I care about. I assume the world's media are going to print what they please, as they are guided mostly by a spirit of secularism. They can, and will, publish what they choose. I am a Catholic, therefore it grieves me more when my Catholic brothers and sisters promulgate a lie.

This is the cross we must carry
    To stay informed
    To see the whole picture
And to keep working out our salvation with “fear and trembling” as the saying goes
