He was right about a lot more than he was wrong...but he didn't pretend to be a prophet. His time table was off on a few things too. Over all....he was pretty darn right...especially about the direction the world and the church were headed!

I agree wholeheartedly. Though he fell victim to thinking things were going to happen sooner than they did (sounds like he would fit right in here ;)) overall he was extremely exact with the direction he thought the Church would take. Even down to a lot of smaller details. He was a brilliant mind even apart from his knowledge of the Third Secret and Vatican and Geopolitical politics.

Oh my gosh yes...he was ahead of his time. He was brilliant! He was an expert in so many fields and languages. He Was a talented and skilled writer.....and soooo interesting to listen to. He was the highest rated guest of the Art Bells talk show. He was on a lot because the audience loved him. I could listen to him for hours....never boring. Always had a story about something interesting on a topic few knew about. I could go on and on. Wish he was still alive. I would love to hear his views on the Vatican today...what a treasure.

It's funny you mentioned that. I was wondering just yesterday what Fr. Martin would have thought through the years if he had lived. I think he would have been somewhat shocked at Pope Benedict XVI's comparatively conservative Papacy. But I feel pretty sure that if he were alive today he would say "This is it, this is the time period I was always talking about. It has come to fruition." Of course this are only my thought on what he might say. I don't want to put words in his mouth. I am pretty sure though that most who listened to his interviews would probably agree.

I agree completely, I think that he would only be surprised that it took this long. I can understand why he felt it would be sooner. As a Vatican insider, he could see even then how bad things were and he knew and saw things we never will. I think that is why he had to get out....the corruptness was probably too much.
He said a mass in Latin daily, so although he left the Vatican, his heart was still in his priesthood.
I also loved his Irish stories and humor.

If you throw out Fr. Martin over that, SteveD, you'd have to throw out St. John Paul II, who backed the founder. I believe Benedict XVI was wise to rehabilitate the Order and its Constitutions instead of dismantling it after the founder's death, although I do not harshly judge those legionaries who left the Order to live out their priestly vocations elsewhere.

Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!
