Yes Brian was right to delete this, it was a direct personal attack of the very worst sort.

Well thanks. All you can do is your best. I often think of St Teresa of Avila's wise words.

    Let nothing disturb you,
    Let nothing frighten you,
    All things are passing away:
    God never changes.
    Patience obtains all things
    Whoever has God lacks nothing;
    God alone suffices.

    -- St. Teresa of Avila

She not only prayed it she livid it. Wonderful.

I might have to close down discussion of Church affairs again until after Easter. Things are getting very, very heated around here.

We'll see. But if we simply end up insulting each other there does not seem a lot of point to it all.

Poor St. John the Baptist. If he had only had the smarts of Pope Francis he could have saved his head. :cautious:

Yes, this is the proper course to take now. Thank you Mother Mary for guiding us once again.

Time to let go and let God :)

“Fear is the chief activator of our faults.” ~Fr. Emmerich Vogt I have posted this before but it might help us to pull back for a moment and regain our sense of peace and control. Fr Emmerich has devised a spiritual 12 step program that everyone can benefit from. We all seem to be on the verge of losing what we hold dearest and it is frightening us.

    WE ARE ALL AFRAID.

Maybe a victory for the Holy Spirit. I will let the members of the forum decide. The forum is simply a vehicle, if it cannot stay aflloat with the weight it is time to give it a rest. To me it is common sense.

We can return to this again.

Love this. Father Emmerich gave a Lenten retreat at our parish a couple of years ago and it was very helpful to me. Very interesting and bright man, he's a Dominican from California, right?

Yes, he is. We were very blessed to have him reside at our Dominican parish in Portland, Holy Rosary Church. He just finished giving the priests at EWTN their annual retreat. He also gives retreats in India for the Missionaries of Charity.

I remember it was a very powerful series of talks he gave over the 3 nights. One of the nights, might have been the 1st there was a big snowstorm predicted and here in the south they warn everyone to stay off the roads. But I went out anyway and not many of us were there, but I was so glad I heard him speak. There was something about him, very spiritual, I felt like he was talking to me. If I remember right his 12 steps were based on the 12 step AA program. So glad you posted that, I'll watch the whole talk again when I have time :)

Keep me, O God, from pettiness; let me be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let me be done with fault-finding and self-seeking. May I put away all pretense and meet everyone face to face without self-pity and without prejudice. May I never be hasty in judgment and always generous. Let me take time for all things. Make me grow calm, serene and gentle. Teach me to put into action my better impulses, straightforward and unafraid. Grant that I may realize it is the little things of life that create differences and that in the big things of life we are one. And, O Lord God, let me not forget to be kind!
