Love you Padraig. He was an amazing man. We were blessed to have him and Pope JP II. Please say a little prayer for my dad. He passed away this morning. And we are grateful he felt hardly any pain. It was a beautiful death on Ascension day.

I would love to have had a Pope who caused them to scream out loud when they saw him coming.:):)

    Holy, shrewd, wise.

But someone who filled them with terror.:D:D

    He will come yet.

    Bring it on.

A Pope with a good solid set of Cojones.

    A Fighter.

Please God, yes. Fill them with total, total terror. :D:D

    Bring it on.

I only just came across it myself after years of searching...I doubt many who live here are fully aware of it.

I recently read a book called "Murder in the 33rd Degree: The Gagnon Investigation into Vatican Freemasonry" by Father Charles Murr. It caught my interest because Cardinal Gagnon was Canadian. He was asked by Pope Paul VI to investigate freemasonry in the Vatican. He completed the report, and like the one (on another subject) that was handed to Pope Emeritus Benedict before he resigned, it just disappeared.

One of the suspected Cardinals was a Cardinal Baggio. This fella was the Apostolic Delegate to Canada from 1959 to 1964. The Antigonish Movement was in full swing by this time. And then in 1968 came Humanae Vitae, followed by the Winnipeg Stmt which was fully supported by the Antigonish Movement crew. Cardinal Gagnon opined that the Bishops who supported the Winnipeg Stmt were in schism.

Later, 1973, Cardinal Baggio was appointed Prefect for the Congregation of Bishops. Scary. Even more scary is the more recent welcome given by our Bishops to this man -

It's like living fully in the twilight zone these days. All the years wondering why they have ignored Our Lady's pleas. I can't help but think that things are way worse than we can imagine and really, the Good Lord Himself, along with Our Lady, will sort it all out in His own time.

Do you think Father Jimmy and Mons. Coady meant well ? When my husband’s niece went to Nepal as part of Education of women- assuming it was for sexual health- or whatever as part of The Antigonish Movement when she was at X in the 90’s I figured they Father Jimmy and Coady would be rolling over in their graves. I don’t support St. FX monetarily because they are not Catholic enough for me .

Honestly, I don't know if they did or not. I make no judgements there. There was no internet then with instant info, and hindsight is 20/20 as they say. That doesn't mean we can't objectively look the results of what they started, the fruits of their work. Mons Coady's "Master's of Their Own Destiny" reads like a communist manifesto, imho.

I myself attended St FX in the early '80's, hoping to finally get to a Catholic school. I had pretty much lost whatever faith I had up until then, but after the X-experience, what little I had left was obliterated. I don't wear my ring, and I don't support them financially either.
