Very bracing words of wisdom from a Frank Sheed. Like a sustaining tonic. Thanks Carol.

Julia have you noticed how we all seem to go in sequence in being overcome with sorrow and horror and discouragement? First one and then another and grace prevails and our fellow prayer warriors lift us up and we renew our strength and then the next brother or sister falls under the weight of these horrors and again other Simon of Cyrenes pray and lift and we renew strength and then another sags under the weight. It is as if we are each being tried in this crucible. Each in our turn. I think crying out is a good thing. We aren’t meant to bear it alone. Another reason MOG is such a blessing. There is such wisdom here among all of you. Such humility and knowledge and fear of the Lord. Piety and good counsel. The gifts of the Holy Spirit like tongues of fire. I am SO grateful for this site!

This site is becoming more and more a blessing every day. As many of us live in very liberal areas there are few if any friends, coworkers, even family members that carry the faith with us. Even most Catholics today are totally blind to what is going on. It definitely helps to have a group like this to lean on for strength. In a very real way I really feel like MOG is my "other family".

    Praetorian,

I don't know, I think that he can't say anything about it until as he has stated, "...The whole question is still to be determined as to how to go forward,..".

I think the following statement from Cardinal Burke is enlightening,

"So there is a feeling that in today’s world that is based on secularism with a completely anthropocentric approach, by which we think we can create our own meaning of life and meaning of the family and so on, the Church itself seems to be confused. In that sense one may have the feeling that the Church gives the appearance of being unwilling to obey the mandates of Our Lord. Then perhaps we have arrived at the End Times."
but I suppose he'll get thrown into the basket of Church deplorables with the rest of us now, lol.

He is obviously fully aware of the gravity of the situation.

That is a very interesting interview. I just want to highlight some parts of the interview for those who are short of time to read the whole article.

(PG is Paolo Gambi, the interviewer. CRB is Cardinal Raymond Burke.)

CRB: So there is a feeling that in today’s world that is based on secularism with a completely anthropocentric approach, by which we think we can create our own meaning of life and meaning of the family and so on, the Church itself seems to be confused. In that sense one may have the feeling that the Church gives the appearance of being unwilling to obey the mandates of Our Lord. Then perhaps we have arrived at the End Times.

[In response to a question about the secretary-general of the Italian bishops’ conference, Bishop Nuncio Galantino's, recent declaration that the Reformation was “an event of the Holy Spirit”, and another question about the commission that is working on the hypothesis of a common sacramental interpretation of the Eucharist]:
CRB said "Well, I don’t see how you can say that the division of the Church was an act of the Holy Spirit. It simply does not make sense. And I don’t know what the nature of this commission is, but it is not possible to have a common Eucharistic celebration with Lutherans". .............................
This is a profoundly false ecumenism which would do grave harm to the Faith and to souls.

PG: But how can we use the word “Catholic” to describe both a cardinal who celebrates the ancient Mass and defends the values of the family and, for example, a bishop like François Fonlupt of Rodez et Vabres, who has recently ordained a priest following a rite with Hindu elements? What can keep all of us together?

It's funny that both of you took that as a positive, I took that exact quote as quite disheartening. My thought was "If you don't know what you're going to do by now..."

Of course he could be playing his cards close to the vest and may not want to divulge anything.

I still have confidence in Cardinal Burke. Let us all continue to pray for him that he makes the moves God wants him to.

I feel that they may have already issued the formal correction in private, but have not made their next move yet. Possibly to give the benefit of time for PF to respond to the correction. Cardinal Burke's act of paying his respects to St Thomas Moore points to this.
And that formal correction may be the reason for the orthodox Catholic teachings emanating from PF recently in several of his homilies or speeches.
Also this interview must have been conducted before November 14, mentioned by Cardinal Burke as the date of the 'upcoming' anniversary of the publication of the dubia.

    Praetorian,

I really think this is a very tough one for him, very, very tough. Most of us have stated that we know people who are very intelligent and involved in the Church they don't realize what is going on.

I read his statements both as positive and as negative. He may have presented the Pope with the Formal Correction but the next move is the most difficult but from his other statements he understands the severity of the situation and that he must move forward although it is extremely painful to do so. In addition, he is probably feeling that he will not have very much support especially once the MSM gets hold of the news.

We absolutely need to pray for Cardinal Burke and for the Pope and the world. Heaven help us please.

Don't forget to unite your Rosary on 1st Month with all the intentions Cardinal Burke is asking.

I don't recall the intentions exactly word for word; but can tell you they are all relating to family and Holy Mother Church and the grave situations we all see around us.

Cardinal Burke offers Holy Mass for all those who join in this Rosary on 1st Month. Lets join with his eminence today, so we are continuing to keep watch and pray. Praised be Jesus and Mary.

Cardinal Burke reminds me of St. Michael when he stood up and said "Who is like God." It is just a pity two thirds of the Cardinals have not got the courage two thirds of the Choirs of Angels had, when they came to the help of St. Michael to kick the fallen angels out of Heaven.

I Hope & Pray that Cdl. Burke and his supporters are "sleepin' good" with the knowledge that they are, as best they see it, fighting the good fight and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, knowing/believing that The Lord is in control of The Situation and His Will ... WILL BE DONE .... 'cause Satan & Pals are Losers!!
Soooo ... God is runnin' de Show .... Sleep Tight & Don't Let the BedBugs Bite!!! :)

It must be a billion times harder for Cardinal Burke than it is for us. I will offer up mass today for the poor, poor man. I think he is a saint.
I hope to go to Chartres on pilgrimage to see him this year, with my brother and his family.

    I think
I think he is going through a dry martyrdom. And he knows more than the rest of us do how high the stakes are. This has to be anguish for him.
