This has nothing to do with spiritual wisdom. If you knew anything about saints thay are blinded to many things...even to the existence of God. You put Padre Pio as this spiritual being walking on water. He was very human...even at times mean. Yes, he could be decieved. Is he like the rest of us...yes in many ways. With the exception of following God to the very extreme...that is what it takes to be a Rockstar saint. You are enamored with all the mystical...that might be your burden. We should be enamored with the spiritual...the rest is just the by-product. I did not say anything against my beloved brother padre pio. I think he would understand what i am saying. We can all make mistakes...even padre pio

Oh, BTW, when God arranges for you to meet Saint (Pope) John Paul II, Conchita, and Mother Angelica in the same month, that's not called a "mystical burden", that's called a " blessing".

 

Pio just spoke to me...he said...I was born with the stain of original sin just as my brothers and sisters. It is only by the grace of God that I was gifted...otherwise I would have been a poor goat herder with no name for myself. Only God gets the glory and you should consider me nothing more than mere dust...as you.

 

Yes Saint Glenn...all my posts have been consistent. We are all saints...if we are not, then we are on the other team.

 

I never said I was a saint, and I hardly think any of us have attained the right to be called that , to do so shows a lack of humility .

Those that follow Christ are saints...all of us, on the Mother of God forum, are all saints. We follow Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The church, in its wisdom, sometimes declares a saint.

Why is it so few and seldom?

Because, by declaring a saint... they are stating the person is in heaven. Basicly they are declaring judgement on earth. That is a big responsibility by the church. Its only real value is that the saint has lived a virtuous life and they become good role models for those of us that are still here. They become role models but they also become intercessors in heaven.

But all saints... because of their humanity (even at their highest point of spirituality) have made mistakes, been angry but most importantly not understood the whole picture. We sometimes get enamored by the result (grace) of spirituality. But most saints, i have read, never asked or wanted those graces. Those by-products of prayer manifested itself because (Grace of God) of a strong and devote prayer life.

I have been lucky enough to meet a few saints. the common thread is that they know they are human. That is called humility.

While we all respect Saint Padre Pio as a man and a saint, the fact of the matter is that when it comes to the discernment of the supernatural validity of Garabandal or any other private revelation, it is the local bishop, not our favorite Saint, who has the charism and the authority to discern the veracity of the alleged apparition.

 

Isn't the title of Saint for those who have already won the battle, not those who are still in it? Remember even Judas cast out demons and performed miracles in Jesus' name.

 

You are correct...we are all called to be saints. That is our actual goal. If we live in a state of Grace then we have accomplished our goal. If we die in the state of Grace...i think that is our ticket to heaven.

So...are you in the state of Grace?

Therefore, we are all participating in the communion of saints.

But...i think God appreciates the title Brother and Sister.

We are called to be saints.

The debate was never to call someone Saint on earth...the debate was to show saints are very human. Not a magical being...just a holy person with gifts.

You keep beating a dead horse. Obviously IF the Bishop was correct ( and could back up his opinion ,which he couldn't ) The Vatican would have shut Garabandal down in the 1960's. SO stop giving the Bishop the authority of the FINAL decision, he does not render that , because obviously THE VATICAN & EVERY POPE SINCE THEN DISAGREES WITH HIM & YOU.

 

I think "all-caps"ing someone is the equivalent of yelling at them on the computer and shows a lack of humility. Just a thought.

Pope Benedict remarked, even the Saints quarreled, so we all have Hope! He remarked, Saints are declared by the life of Heroic virtue they led. I will pray for Aviso, and hope that he will cling to Our Lord and Lady. These are troubling and confusing times, and the devil seeks our souls, we are all vulnerable.

 

Its not a lack of humility, it's frustration, when someone tries to honestly educate someone else on a topic that are not very familiar with , and you get the the same responses over and over again. My problem is I care too much ,and actually think I can awaken a new thought in their minds, obviously this is not always the case. ( not to mention , as an Admin here, I asked 3 times to get this thread back "on topic" ) and people just continue doing what ever they want. You have a word for that ?

As Glenn says its not a matter of his humility, it's a matter of his honesty, being in touch with reality, unlike my brother Aviso who seems to have gone off course and taken a few with him. At least Aviso has let me express my support for Pope Francis his site and published the Holy Father's closing statement in one of my comments. As for humility as most others here will know, the root word for humility comes for the Greek word for ground. Glenn is the most grounded contributor to this site that I know, fully accountable with his full identity disclosed, straight talking and straight shooting. He carries the message as a true Catholic in full support of the Pope. None of the above, sadly, can be said of Aviso. No, there is a fallen saint. Hopefully our prayers will help lift him up and restore him to his feet and his faith. I am quite sure if anyone posted a comment here and they got a like, never mind an affirmative post endorsing their view, from a couple of popes and three saints they would feel they were on the right track! Even in a court of law character witnesses are taken into consideration. Just so Glenn witnesses to the characters who confirm the veracity of the abundant evidence that is available about Garabandal. he has the knowledge and experience that gives weight to his information and opinion.
