I am afraid it is. Heaven must be crying. I think certian people at Rome could learn from the charity and restraint shown to each other on this forum.

Few of us have a monopoly on the truth.

The name calling there does not help.

I have to admit, it is a bit unsettling at times waiting for D-day to take us into a world none of us have known. Yes we have been given the means to know what we must do, but until it is literally upon us we can only hope we are prepared to 'fight the good fight' as St. Paul did. No one knows when it all begins in a big way, but is interesting to see it all unfold in real time.

I think Charlie Johnston's advice in the , 'Next Right Step', was timely. One step at a time, walking with the Lord.

Or, as David Warren has said, or at least to paraphrase him, "I don't care what they do in Rome, I'm staying Catholic".

How is anyone confused on Church teaching? This question of uncertainty boggles my mind! If you follow the catechism, you know the TRUTH. If you don't, confussion sets in your mind. I guess were at the Council of Jerusalem moment....waiting for Peter to speak? we all know the answer already. Some want to listen to the bi-sexual reporters for the majior news networks that want to spin things....so many take the bait and WAR against Papa Francis....back down folks ! So Many are watching the waves come over the Bow... so move to the stern folks!

Mac, Im not in denial! BUT! I will say how timely of this singular padre to come out of the closet at the Synod, why now and not another time? political agaenda, maybe Padres conscience? Lord only knows.....I totally dismiss Padre and his claims! Im not in doubt others might be gay/lesbo but I don't think its predominant.

I think anyone who thinks we are not just about enter a grey mist of confusion and no matter what happens he or she is the possessor of perfect 20/20 Spiritual Vision and Discernment no matter what, is in for a big, big surprise.

I think what is coming will confuse even the saints.

Not for the first time, may I add.
I think the more we enter this in a spirit of humility the better we will be able to face it.

None of us have all the answers. None of us.

At least the Catholic Church does hold all the answers. Why its looking for new ones is the worry.

I believe the Church is always looking for new answers: always attentive to the Spirit: always awake. Just like Jesus said.

    Divine Judgement comes at death.

There is only two options for Our Lord Jesus as Divine And Perfect Judge.

He can show Mercy and allow us to enter Heaven (most likely purgatory). Or he can show condemnation a send us to hell.

Communion and non-comunion for sinners is the act of mercy or condemnation on earth. The question is how much mercy to show...people are corrected saying "everyone will go to heaven" is not Catholic teaching. It is theologically wrong. But the question is how much mercy can the church give without entering into that false teaching. Its not as easy as one thinks.

Should divorced couples have the opportunity to participate in the Holy Eucharist...i don't know. I wouldn't want to be the judge on earth...because when i die, i will be judged.

So, the debate, has been part of Catholic Tradition for a long time. How much Mercy can be given before it becomes theologically wrong.

This debate is much deeper then just black and white.

I think this article really hits home. I've been reading post after post on this thread and in many ways it's tried to zap my strength. But I'm not going to let it happen. I wonder in some ways if this synod is a "test" on how we can truly love those we don't agree with? Yes there is confusion, but in the end it comes down to love. We may not see this the same way, but yes we are called - no commanded - to love one and other. It's not such a easy calling but I think more than ever it's part of what we will be called to do in the Storm that is upon us.

In think he nails it when he writes:

"Christ’s words, addressed to the Israel of his day, now echo in the Church. Our “enemies” are no longer Romans but German bishops, the pope, New York Times columnists, conservative and liberal theologians, bloggers on the left and the right and anyone we see as a threat to the Church’s flourishing in the modern world. The problem with current discourse in the Church is not the presence of disagreement. "

"The real concern around the synodal debate is that our disagreements have become occasions by which our interlocutor becomes the enemy. Rather than presume the good will of the one with whom we disagree, we create an imaginary enemy whom we delight in shutting down through verbal attacks or ascribing to our “enemy” motives we have imagined."

"To love thy enemy is not to accept a benign and beige tolerance where serious disagreement is passed over. But it is to remember that the one with whom I disagree will one day participate with me, God willing, in the discourse of praise within the city of God."
