Yes Julia, even if he does not have cancer the surgery must have taken quite a toll on him. He does look weary.
There is word from Rome that he will write legislation this fall outlawing the title and position of “pope emeritus” and will resign the papacy and we’ll have a conclave before the end of the year. This comes from a very credible source of my own, not internet stories.
would this be a way of putting pressure on a retired Pope not to interfere in the successor's government?
He had some of his intestines removed. Perhaps the surgeons got it all. It could have been cancer in situ, non metastatic
Yes, I'm sure that they would give him some treatment. Maybe, given his age, the treatment would be less severe. I suppose it depends on how advanced was the cancer if he had it. Is it true that bowel cancer has a very high survival rate when detected early but the opposite when detected late? We all should offer a prayer that he will make a full recovery from whatever ails him.
This may sound heartless but while I know I must pray (and doe pray regularly) for the soul of our Pope and the Pope’s intentions (with every rosary) why must I pray for his continued health? I would rather pray for God’s Will to be done.
His Will maybe for Pope Francis's health to improve through our intersessory prayers. So we pray for his spiritual, physical and emotional healing and conversion to the fullness of our Lord's Truth.
Those of us who are doing the 54 day novena for the coming of the Great Pope don’t discount the possibility of this current pope having a deep conversion and being It. We need help from heaven and I for one will take it however it comes.
