I wish them both well. They believe they are doing what's right. Sadly, they are only following the example of one whose duty it is to know and do better. All believing Catholics are being trolled, a nasty practice that began in 2013 and gets worse with each passing year.

We'll have to learn how best to cope with it. The FSSP seem to cope better than most.

Petrus, in his statement that, concerning homosexuality, he didn't wish to speak about himself, might have divulged his underlying motivation.

He certainly displayed a keen willingness to accuse and condemn, without the slightest charity, and an equally keen facility to evade a direct question.

You remind me of the need to be charitable, first, last and centre.

I will remember to do this tomorrow at Mass. :)

You know I think for most Catholics today our religion is something of a boxing ticking exercise, something to be a member of like a golf club or a season ticket at a golf club or a membership in a mother and toddlers club. A kind of also ran. We know this because in many respects their won views are no different than the views and positions secular society around them takes. So for instance they do not believe that in the Eucharist we have the actual body and blood of Christ, they believe artificial contraception is fine, even that abortion is not such a bad thing or even alright..and the list goes on and on. As far as Pope Francis is concerned ,as long as the doors open and close on Sunday and the Catholics schools and colleges are there what could be wrong. They don't want to look under the bonnet as long as the engine keeps on running. They don't want to ask questions because they simply don't see the need.

I was sitting with a new lady at work the other day who had joined us from another hospital. She comes from a Catholic background and is a grand mother. I was with her for half and hour in the morning before going home and she loved talking. So in a pretty short space of time I discovered she had abandoned her Faith and herself, her husband and children were living a truly horrendous immoral life.

I looked at her and wondered what she would say if I warned her that her and her family stood in the gravest danger of going to hell for all Eternity. This sounds like a terrible thing to say, but it might be the kindest most charitable thing anyone had ever done for her.

But of course if I had done so she would have screamed the place down, hated me with a passion, reported me and got me the immediate sack.

So that was a non runner for a start.:):)

But I am struck as a Catholic how very differently I think from seculars and even my fellow Catholics. It is as though I am tuning in from another planet.

Tin and Petrus made me feel like this. Like I was an Alien. Speaking, feeling , being so, so, so different.

We are all aliens these days who believe in the true Church as it has always stood. . Strangers in a strange land. ("Here we have no lasting City")
I attended a small mass at a nursing home for nuns where a retired priest says Mass. He is a good friend and a very good priest. His homily was startling. He preached on the reality of hell and how Catholics have forgotten the very real danger we are in if we get complacent or luke warm. He said "I'm in danger. You are in danger." He said he had a different homily prepared but at 2AM he awoke and tossed it out and gave this one.

I agree. The push back from “ Catholics “ is what’s allowing the hierarchy to continue to push their new agenda.
They constantly try to use language like “charity, accompaniment etc to give credence to their positions…..but do they not know how the book ends? The truth is there and has been all along….and truth never changes.

I don't think I have heard a priest preach on Hell since I was a child. I can just imagine it, screams, a stampede for the doors and a thousand letters of complaint to the Bishop.

In Scripture this is the constant cry of the Chosen People , These are Modern times, we must adapt. I think there was a reading like this the other day in Church. The next king after King Solomon, I think it was Jeraboam had several foreign wives and allowed them to set up idols their own Gods in the surrounding hills. Accompaniment. Mercy. Go along , get along. Who am I to judge?

    Kings-1 12:32

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that [is] in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

“Who am I to judge?”….no one asked him to “Judge”?….
He has no authority to judge. No one does. We ask for the scriptural truth…that is what is lacking….not judgement. That, PF, is reserved for God alone. He wrote the book and He’ll be the judge.

Let you yes be yes and your no be no….

“Because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

Well didn’t you know Padrig, there is no longer a “ need” for hell. Ask Bishop Barron…Don’t we all now have a reasonable expectation that no one goes to hell? Hummm, someone please send the confused bishop the story of Fatima if the Bible isn’t clear enough. I believe Our Lady showed Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta actually hell.
Does one need to take a knee to the reigning regime in Rome to get a bishops miter? It sure looks that way.

    Wow…the Lord changed his homily…
Please, would all of the other ordained listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to do the same. God bless that priest.
Especially important for those in nursing homes or as some would say, “ Gods waiting room”(y)

I haven't heard a fire and brimstone sermon since way back not even a few sparks. There isn't even a sermon on the necessity to be in a state of grace to recieve Holy Communion.
I think any traditional Catholic is seen as a problem by some in the church. We are aliens and since covid definitely not on the same page as the rest of society. Once you accept that and avoid conversations that have the possibility of conflict its OK. I have lost friends in the past 2 years but I'm fine with that. We are now acquaintances.
I'm happy those 2 guys have been shown the door. They were a bit disturbing. The best of luck to them.

In a way Mary, the forum is a little like the Church in minature. Now supposing for a second that someone came on the forum who said that homosexual priests are acceptable.

I would of course throw them right off at once. I would not think twice about it.

My guess would be you would all be outraged if I didn't.

There are a hundred, maybe a thousand reasons why someone who goes against the Teachings of the Church might be tossed.

Why then does our Holy Father the Pope, the Cardinals and Bishops not toss them? That's what God put them here for. To toss the wolves. Why are they not doing so?

My best guess is that they have lost the conviction of right and wrong.

They wouldn't know a wolf if it walked up and bit them.

Unfortunately, even a good pope like St. John Paul II was unable to 'toss the wolves'. Malachi Martin said that the bureaucrats in the Church would ignore or frustrate the efforts of Pope John Paul so that he was able to achieve very little. It reminds me of that comedy 'Yes Minister', except it's 'Yes Your Holiness', but it's not one bit funny.

As Cardinal Ratzinger and as Pope Benedict, the Pope Emeritus was by far the most active member of the Church ever in shafting paedophiles, but note how they are now trying to smear his reputation with dodgy allegations about events from years ago. These are making world headlines, with no mention of his decisive achievement in hugely reducing the incidence of abuse among priests. I'm confident there is no substance for any negligence, but when this is concluded, the report will be a few lines in the bottom left-hand corner of a page near the back.

My sentiments as well…why aren’t they tossed out?

I fear it will get worse. Also on the German shopping list is having Bishops elected by the laity. If that passes, our Bishops will be chosen by whomever controls the secular media. With decentralisation via Synodality most likely to get the go-ahead, electing Bishops may be introduced in Germany initially but rich, faithless Germans will ensure that it spreads to wherever their money has clout. Should it be rolled out in the universal Church, we could end up with a Pope handpicked by billionaire media tycoons.

Hard to believe that the Church would consider going that route especially now when flaws in the democratic process, especially its vulnerability to corruption and manipulation, are becoming more apparent in politics.
